Finally starting this show after keeping it on hold (2 years) since I started watching anime. I've only heard good things besides its slow pacing.

Good episode so far. It highlights how scummy people are and how they value status and money over life.

Not to excited about the visuals but looking forward to see where this goes. The MC’s fiancé is a bitch but seems like Tenma is as well glad he came to his senses.

What a dilemma and a position to be in as a doctor the higher ups are prioritized more than the conman people because of politics

Really good first ep. The visuals looked absolutely gorgeous and the first impression of Tenma was good.
Doctor Tenma seems to have strong morals since he chose to not obey the directors orders. If Im not mistaken that boy was Johan and I assume that he will be grateful to Tenma, after hearing that he decided to operate him instead of the mayor. I got a hunch that the mayor is gonna die in that surgery and the director is blaming Tenma for that.
I have only heard good things about this series so I got high hopes for this.

It's really impressive how well they adapted this from the manga. The animation is clean and carries the charm the original had with it. There were a few plot conveniences that bothered me this ep but it's fine since this is the first one anyway. Also the moral ambiguity of the doctors feels a little contrived

finally starting this...it got off to a pretty slow start tbh, but it did pick up in the end. excited for what episode 2 brings.

the director and his daughter are pigs, human scum. even though its fictional it infuriates me that they operate their hospital this way. tenma speaking out against it was awesome.

(that cgi in the opening tho lmfao)

The complexity makes it very impressive. I won't give too many details.

The critically acclaimed series, a series many have called to be a masterpiece, a once-in-a-decade show so to speak, it's time for me to watch this.
I've known of this show's existence for almost a decade and yet I have not even given it a go. It was not until one of my friends has already watched it that I actually begin to start watching this.

The OP and ED are very strange, it's definitely cannot be described as 1 singular genre, the clashing instruments that play and the abrupt change at the beginning of the OP and the middle of the ED is very jarring, but the atmosphere of the show itself somewhat makes these aspects of the OP and ED accentuate the episodes that come and go. Still, not exactly my cup of tea, especially the ED, but in time I'll probably grow to like it.

The first ep already threw us into the drama, Dr. Tenma Kenzou, a doctor from Japan in Germany worked as a neurosurgeon 3 years before the collapse of the Berlin Wall. We see Tenma's character by how compassionate he is for his patient. At one point he gave up on following orders in order to save lives, not in a way to appease his superior but simply to save lives. There is no doubt that this, no matter how noble in reality, would be frowned upon.

Tenma's 'fiance' is such a bitch lmaooo she's a nobody, you're literally a Daddy's girl.

4 years ago I started this series with my friend group and we got to episode 63 before life happened and we never got to finish it, so a couple of us are finally revisiting it again from the top.

It's so surreal yet so good to be back. This is a damn good series.

Monster Episode 1

"People's lives aren't created equal."

The dilemma of a doctor knowing that he cannot save everyone. Dr. Tenma is an astounding doctor who is known to do successful complex operations. Sadly, everything is political, even in the medical world. His kindness is being used by his director, who claims his accomplishments, and orders him to prioritize people who have higher standing in their society. This thought weighs heavily on him, eventually pushing him to pursue his ideals. For the first time, he did not obey what the director said and continued to operate the boy.

I've been wanting to watch this for a very long time now, but i always forget about it. Later this evening, Rilke, a friend of mine, recommended it. So, I watched the first episode of it.
I didn't know that it had 70+ episodes. It will probably take me a long time to finish it. The show premiered in 2004, and I came across some bits of the story throughout the internet. I got spoiled to some critical part of it, which I hope will not affect my overall satisfaction with watching the show.

I already finished Pluto, one of Urasawa's works, and I enjoyed it. I am looking forward to Monster, because I heard a lot of praise on how well it was written, especially for the antagonist of the story.

While watching the scene, where the mother and her crying child confronted Dr. Tenma, I remembered a show that had a similar premise, but I cannot remember the title of it.

Oh boy, the show is off to a horrible start. The doctor is just another moralfag who values justice more than his personal carreer. It's all so tiresome to see this unrealistic archetype being repeated in almost every show.
