| THIS IS A MANGA ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS ANYTHING BEYOND THIS CHAPTER. ---------------------------------------- Prologue: It’s for chapters (or prologues) like this that make me glad to read these novels. Dominic and Anemone form my favorite couple in anime. Their story and characterization are something special, and also something I haven’t seen repeated. Unfortunately, the anime is very light on their backstory and characterization before the anime. These pages answers many of the questions that I had, and it was a pretty good story. There’s definently more, but this was good. One of the great strengths of the written word is that it is much better at conveying more information than animation. This allows a novel to provide backstory and setting much better than an anime could. This prologue ans Chapter 1: It took me a while to realize this, but this is an extremely odd first chapter. It doesn’t feel like the start of an independent volume, but instead of as a near direct continuation of the previous volume. These chapters may well have been serialized. There real major change in this chapter is Eureka herself. While it still isn’t clear where exactly she started from, the reactions from the crew show that she has moved far from that unknown start position. Her character needs that change, but she will continue to be a somewhat lackluster character until it is completed. |
