Even though the twist was super predictable and the description gave it away, I honestly did not expect the twist to be that well done. I was legitimately taken aback. Looking forward to this show this season.

I hated the pink hair girl at first but then decided to turn crazy. I got Yuno Mirai Nikki vibes with her actions.
It was a okay first episode, but we'll see where things go from there.

Maybe I'm reading into it too much, but I think this first episode may have been a bait and switch.

The summary talks about a "talentless" student fighting the enemies of humanity with intelligence -- isn't that Nana? Her grifting levels of deduction and insight let her fight the person we all thought was the MC. Plus, the supposed MC seems to be the only one who knows anything about the enemies... Cause he is one?

Idk, I could be completely misjudging this twist, but I kinda hope I'm right.

Already knew about Nana since I was spoiled before getting into this. Wonder if Nanao is going to appear again?? He's not on the ending scene of the theme song.. even though he's on the promotional poster (but this could be a bait?). Wonder how Nana will go on with her plans if Nanao comes back to class though.

She is not a yandere, and certainly not the same kind of pink hair yandere like Yuno or Satou. But you have to be patient as this manga pace are slower than the others.

That ending got me, I should have checked the genre tags. I thought this was some super power anime and I was surprised af by that ending. Aside that the episode itself was average.

So basically the enemies of humanity are the talented people/super power users and the normal humans are afraid of them so they are collecting them in one place to kill them huh, kinda interesting.

Also did he really die damn it? I hope he survived.

Hahaha, I was thinking the whole episode that I'm gonna drop this Hero Academia shit but the plot twist really got me. And judging from the OP (ED for this episode), this Nanao guy isn't even the real protag. It's been quite a while I got bamboozled by anime's "plot twists" so I'll give this one a chance with high expectation now.

And from the first episode. Wow , just Wow.

It's like a mix of My Hero Academia and Agatha Christie's And Then There Were None.

I Love it.

Alright, for anybody who doesn't get it. Nana has pink hair. But that's it. She's Not a yandere and her reasons for what she is doing are going to be further explained in the next episode.

Also the red eyes seemed a little overkill. She made a rather emotionless impression in the manga, which makes more sense.

Anyway, sayonara Nakajima Nanao

(you bravely died a hero and didn't have to live long enough to become the villain :D)

OK. OK. Talentless Nana seems to be a nice anime. It has a good premise and I'm really interested on where they take this. Nana is really a charming girl, she can already make me flutter and Nanao seems to be modest boy just a wuss tho. I ship these two- *Nana pushed Nanao in the cliff* *the ED plays*....

I...didn't...(sigh). Well I made a (mistake/good decision) to watch this anime blind not knowing the genre of the story, nor watching the trailers. COZ HOLY HELL. Once she pushed him, I pulled myself really far away from the screen in ultimate shock.

I rarely get into anime plot twists ok. But oh jeezer, this is the PLOT TWIST that fucked me up real bad. For me personally, they really did a good job of making me comfortable with the atmosphere yet the deep realization hits me...this is the ride that I will never escape. This is the anime that punched me in the face and I'm hoping that it doesn't rely on shock porn and work its psychological tricks and dark secrets to the test.

This is the Anime that lied to me. (And I mean it as a respectable compliment)

I wasn't really caught off guard from the 'reveal' because of my friend who kinda spoiled me and said that there will be a huge twist in first ep sigh.

But yeah pretty ok start. Don't really have high hopes for this. Let's see how this goes.

The adaptation was quite correct

For those who have doubts how the story is going, watch the next episode for a better explanation, for those who keep saying that it's cliche anime they are wrong, Munou na Nana is the "Madoka Magica" of the Magic High School genre.

I really got trolled by this anime I thought it was a my hero academia counterpart...xD MC got killed in ep 1 I guess the real MC is Nana and her enemy is this dark guy who didn't reveal his talent and he's gonna investigate why the "fake" MC is dead etc and suspecting Nana (just guessing xD)

Woah that twist at the end caught me off guard even though all the signs were in my face all along. The joke is on me.

So what should we expect here? Among Us x Re:Zero? Since the next ep seems to hint there will be some time travel for our MC.

That's the name of the 2nd episode I guess. It's about Kyouya I guess.

The second episode is named “time traveler”.
Also, I think if it had better pacing and production, it would have been really really good. Rn though, it’s kinda bad

My first two guess of enemies are that pink hair girl and teacher, now I only suspect the teacher since pink hair girl already reveal herself. In fact I also think the scenario of every students are enemies and government bring them together so that they can kill each other.

The biggest problem is the anime name though, why Talentless Nana when he's reveal to have talent in the first episode, and possibly even more talent...

Eeeerm...
I don't know what to say, not exactly.

It seems pretty cool. Like we say over here, "8 or 80". This show can be absolute awesomeness or totally crap.

Pink-haired anime girls must be yandere, right? And the MC is a kind of Kamijou Touma.
Besides, I don't want this to become a Mirai Nikki-ish plot.

But, at the beginning, I thought this would be boring and generic as hell, but fortunatelly I was mistaken (and a bit surprised). I feel character development coming out, and I really enjoy this.

I'll follow the "3 episode rule", but I don't think I'll drop.

I guess that "dark" plot twist of the girl revealing herself as evil was the "special" thing about this generic anime, it's really not a big deal there are female companions of the protagonist who also have that dark side, but instead of running away from them they end up being her friends anyway, I doubt very much that the boy has died I have seen protagonists survive worse situations and a fall from a cliff is not a big deal, from the rest I got standard screamy Jump-esque comedy, and then two straight minutes of evil villain infodump. Yawn

Really enjoyed the episode and Nana. I think the twist at the end was really nice because it took it in a different direction from what most people were thinking the anime would be going. It was obvious he would end up having some "op" type talent to save Nana, but the last scene really made me stick in for it.

She's crazy. She's totally crazy.
Actually, I saw the twist coming the moment Nana appeared (she gave me strong yandere vibes), but I didn't expect it to happen like that.
I definitely didn't expect her to be lying about her powers. I just thought she'd be using them against the mc (speaking of him I wonder how he's gonna make it).
Funny thing is that despite being annoyed by her at first, I started becoming a bit attached to her, and then that happened.
But she looks like a quite interesting character for now. She seems to be similar to Satou from Happy Sugar Life, the tactical and calm yandere, instead of the usual hysterical one. I like that. I hope her yandere behaviouyr will receive a good explanation and not just be there for the sake of edge.
I can't say I have big hopes for now, but I'm intrigued, especially given the presence of the psychological tag.

@bastek66 You do realize I don't know anything about this story aside from this very first episode right ? It is hard to truly understand Nana's character just based on that. I don't care if she is yandere or not, that was just a way to say that she seems to be a psycho. (So please that'd be nice not to spoil the story. Nana is the real mc, okay, that's good actually because I prefer her over the "mc" who I couldn't care less about.)

@28012001 What is it with manga readers on this thread getting triggered over people misunderstanding Nana's character (after the very first episode) and so deciding to give away spoilers, just let us discover it by ourselves guys, there's no way I can understand from a single episode that Nana isn't psycho, especially since everything in the last scene's direction gives pretty big yandere vibes with the way Nana's character is portrayed (what exactly in her behaviour in this ep makes her come out as a femme fatale type of character rather than a yandere/psychotic one ?) In the end she isn't yandere nor psycho and is just doing her job, okay, that's good. But that would've been nice for us to discover it by ourselves.

@28012001 (I'll just answer to that but then I'll stop because I don't wanna argue) What am I supposed to read ? The manga ? The synopsis ? Either way I wanna discover the twist by myself, what is wrong with that ? Just let people enjoy the show and make up their own theories... Plus, I don't get why you guys seem to be so upset about people calling Nana a psycho or a yandere, she gives those vibes in that ep so it's normal. What is she to you, your goddess ? We have the right not to understand her right-away. That doesn't mean we have an issue with her not being your typical psychopath (I don't, I'm interested in her character anyway).

Ayo what the fuck? I wasn’t expecting this to be that gas pack. This is absolutely fire man. Starts out luring you in with the generic comedy vibes, then goes higurashi/tower of God on you. I knew something was up with Nana, but I wasn’t expecting that... Also given that there’s been no fights against the enemy yet, I wonder if the kids at the school are the actual enemies of humanity. Either way, I’m hooked, OP is a banger, this is gonna be great.

This will definitely be a sleeper hit of the season.

I remember such a show where people were stuck in an island and murders going on... But when I initially watched this show, my initial thoughts were "Is this the 3rd show showing selected young teenagers fighting against an infinite amount of monsters?" - but then, at the end, everything went from 0 to 100. This was one of many horror-esque animés I was looking forward to this season!

unlike the rachel one this was really unexpected and im sure took many watchers by surprise
imo very well executed

I knew she was gonna betray very early on, though. And even then without my intuition into account, it wasn’t very impressive to me. The stiff visuals don’t actually help. Then again, having seen this setup so many times before, I’ve grown apathetic to it on a physical level.

how did you predict it? what gave it away?
the hints were really subtle as to "an enemy of humanity could be already in the island" but other than that they hide it really well.
the visuals werent that bad either

“Are you sure you just don’t want to hate on it?”

Ummm, no. But I’m not confiding myself to low standards especially with shows like this. The signs were there in plain sight to where it reminded me of Assassination Classroom and how a number of characters had a sort of other side to it. Another and Happy Sugar Life had that similar early alarm and atmosphere.

The visuals weren’t horrendous but it’s barely avg in terms of quality.
