| I know it's a bit late but if you're still looking for an answer, it's the first 3 volumes. And the anime starts where the novel starts so no, nothing happened before what's shown in the anime. |

I checked the description under each volume on booklive and looks like the anime covers 7 volumes since the 7th volume states that it's the final part of Kazane arc and looks like volume 8 is a bunch of side stories. So if I have watched the anime should I start from volume 4 or volume 9? I know it's a bit late but if you're still looking for an answer, it's the first 3 volumes.
