| In line with the sophistication of parametric CAD technology, NURBS modelling etc., the design of buildings and cars have been oriented into a more organic biomimetic form, technically to take benefits such as to make a more aerodynamic shape or to reduce wind live load subjected to the shape, or to allow deployability or retractability such as in folding architecture. The design of components are also made organic, say, like the shape of armpit. The geometry of armpit can be easily modeled in NURBS, heat transfer might as well analyzed with PDE by hand or FEA, and for mechanical behavior, we can use numerical method also such as FEM, or if done analytically, we can use energy method such as castigliano theorem etc. Of course then moment of inertia would be one of the parameter of interest in the geometrical analysis of armpit. We can take a section of that, and perform stresses analysis. The von mises stress criterion can be used to analyze its point of failure. RIYAP, i.e., Research and Investigation of Yarub's Armpit is a team made of engineers, scientists, surgeons, mathematicians, philosophers, and architects to investigate the anomaly in the synclastic shape of Yarub's retractable smelly hairy armpit. The challenge is to perform the parametric heat transfer, mechanical, and geometrical analysis in various folding state while maintaining its hairy, smelly, and sweaty conditions to gain, biomimetically speaking, the perfect imitation of the behavior for future design reference. The tested subject was initially made unconscious, before the analysis can performed in detail manner. Philosophically speaking, we celebrate the deconstruction and parametricism zeitgeist using this as our study case. Contact me if anyone is interested to join this innovative research. |
