Plot wise, I think the episode 11's second half and episode 12 set the foundation for a core part of Darkness's plot, though this aspect is also gone over again in the first Darkness OVA. There are also a few other minor references to S2 but none that are that important, so story wise 11 and 12 are probably the only episodes you have to watch for Darkness to make sense. More important than the plot though is the character/relationship development that happens throughout S2 as a lot of that ends up being important in Darkness, mainly Yami and her becoming BFFs with Mikan. You'll still be able to understand everything in Darkness without watching the rest of S2, but it helps you get invested in the characters as if you haven't seen S2 and aren't as invested a lot of the events in Darkness won't have as much impact which I think would result in Darkness being less enjoyable.

No, don't. Don't be a fucking loser. Motto is a great season, anyway, and solves a lot of the problems people had with the first season's adaptation when it comes to the original series if you had an issue with that adaptation.

If you don't give a fuck about the characters or anything about TLR and only give a fuck about softcore porn, then sure. Knock yourself out. Darkness has great ecchi and it is a step up from previous seasons in that regard. That's pretty much the only reason people even skip over straight into Darkness anyway. The amplified ecchi.

If you actually care about the series itself, then don't. Watch the set up, watch what comes before it, get to know the cast properly and be there for the whole ride. A lot of stuff lacks gravity and you lose out on a huge portion of the experience if you skip over the original series and its adaptations still.

A lot of the finer parts of Darkness in terms of characterization, narrative, and the general context things are operating in are a result of cumulative progression and not Darkness operating in a vacuum when it comes to this series. They come from actually, y'know, knowing about the characters. Episode 6 would have all of the buildup of a passing mention if you didn't see Run fail time and time again, for instance, and that's one of the best episodes of the series. And, for me at least, seeing fanservice from a cast I'm actually interested in is a lot more gratifying than one that I'm not.

The ecchi's a step up, though, for certain, but if that's the only thing you give a fuck about, then just being told to go watch hentai instead actually makes perfect sense in that context. So if that's your reason, my suggestion would be to fuck off from TLR altogether and go watch hentai.

The correct question would be "Can i skip S1 and get to S2 already?"
