A pre-screening event for the first and second episodes will be held at Shinjuku Baltic 9 on September 16. Kenjirou Tsuda, who voices the main character Manji, director Hiroshi Hamasaki, and sound director Youji Shimizu will attend to host a talk show.
Hamasaki (Shigurui, Texhnolyze) will helm the series at LIDENFILMS, which will be a complete adaptation of the manga. Shingo Ogiso (Arslan Senki (TV)) is providing the character designs and Makoto Fukami (Berserk, Psycho-Pass script) is handling the series composition.
I'm pleasently surprised with the voice actors elections for Anotsu and Makie, probably the ones I liked the most so far. I never considered Nozomu Sasaki to voice Anotsu, but I think he will do a great job. This one cast choice was important, since he's the main antagonist of the series (and you can say he's a main character too) and
we are going to see him and his journey as much as the one of the protagonists, so I'm glad they picked someone with experience.
Though I'm gonna miss Mamiko Noto, Kuwashima is good enough, so I have no complaint. It is good to know that she's going to have another important role, since, nowdays, she's usually casted for very secondary characters looking at you, Kimetsu no Yaiba.
I really didn't expected Tatsuhisa Suzuki to voice Magatsu. I honestly don't know what to think about it. Like, Suzuki is great and all, but I don't see him voicing Magatsu working in my mind. Gotta wait to see the anime to properly judge.
I'm fine with the voice actors for Shizuma and Kuroi. They have mostly voiced secondary characters, but then again, I'm happy that
they haven't wasted big name voice actors for characters who are going to appear in two or three episodes at most, so...
That being said, they still have big shoes to fill, cause the other previous voice actors (Masashi Ebara and Katsuyuki Konishi) did a great job in the old anime, especially Ebara.
I'm disappointed with Abayama's election, however. I expected someone with a more imposing and memorable voice since he's the 2nd in command of the Itto-ryu and
is going to last way longer than both Kuroi and Shizuma,
but this voice actor is another one who always do secondaries, and his career is not very impressive. Oh, well, just like with Magatsu, I will wait to see the series before judging.
I wonder too why they have revealed Abayama already, but haven't shown Araya Kawakami, since
his fight against Manji is the climax of the first arc, so he should had been revealed along with the rest of the Itto-ryu members who attacked the dojo of Rin's father,
while Abayama doesn't appears until the second arc. I guess they are going to introduce him first in the anime.
