Anyone get 90s vibes from this anime?

As I watch this anime, the music, the art direction, the setting, it made me feel a distinctive 90s to an early 2000s vibe, even though this is a 2012 anime. I absolutely love this nostalgic undertone that brings me to reminisce myself in my younger years. Perhaps a teenagehood I never lived but could find connection with.

Anyone else feels the same? What other modern anime do you also find to have this nostalgic vibe? One example I find is Hyouka.

Yeah, this series definitely had a retro/ throwback feel to it. If someone told me this series was set in 1994 or earlier I wouldn't be surprised. I think this is due to the conservative character designs, no one on the show has blonde hair. Also, the characters do retro stuff like use payphones on the show.

Well, I'm glad that I'm not the only one. This series definitely has a retro feel to it, the soundtrack especially helped, 長谷川 incorporated many elements of big band or orchestra sounds. I especially enjoyed the ending song 放課後の約束, the use of trumpet really shaped that reminiscent feel, and the first line of the song, "Let's go home together" reminded me leaving school with a friend, it's great. I really wish for more anime like this to be produced.

90s? Not really. Rather early 2000's. But with quality in anime it's not very consistent to the time. Just this year an anime came out that looked like a early 2000's Ghibli production...
