I just started watching barakamon as its a sequel to handa kun.

Handa-kun was very entertaining and hte mc did have a good level of dev.

The way his character progressed in that show, he would be expected to grow accordingly.

However, that same char in barakamon [which is an in universe sequel] handa has a completely different personality.

So what did happen to Handa Seishuu in that timeskip to change him so much? is there any info on this?

Mod Edit: Modified title for clarity and/or easier searching.

Why would anyone start with Handa-kun when Barakamon was out sooner ? Jesus those chronological orders are pure evil.

Handa-kun "good level of development"

His whole schtick is self loathing due to misunderstanding.

Development my ass.

Handa-kun was a mistake, you better forget about it and just enjoy Barakamon.

His personality changed because he grew up. In Handa-kun he is an adolescent child trying to dealing with his extreme anxiety on top of regular issues that teenagers have during their high school years. In Barakamon he's a grown man. He still has issues with anxiety, but his life and environment are entirely different. He left high-school behind years ago, and he's grown and changed as a person.
