What was with Hiyori

What purpose did she have in the show besides being motivation for Hibiya to join Mekakushi-Dan so that he can save her. She is the focus of the ED so I feel that she has some sort of unexplained importance, but the show kind of forgets about her except for when Hibiya is throwing a temper tantrum. I also have many other questions of this show but that is mainly because I've never seen any of the source material or other media and probably won't have time to unless I devote all my "weeb time" to this story

she and hibiya repeatedly die, robot guy (konoha) tries to save them but ends up saving only one of them.
in anime he saves the guy but girl ends up going to Haze world, which results in the guy receiving his Eyes (that in future will help to find Serpent)

Jin's song dedicated to these events are:
Miku - Kagerou Daze / Heat-Haze Daze (girl/guy loop)
Hatsune Miku & IA - Konoha's State of the World (コノハの世界事情) (Konoha trying to save them)

i dont think shes the focus of ED song, all characters slowly appear there (bcuz they are all connected)

edit: probably worth mentioning that Kenjirou, Momo’s current teacher and the one who killed Haruka and Takane was married to Hiyori’s (much) older sister. Her name was Tateyama Ayaka, and when they visited her grave, Kano was there and seemed to have also known her.
