A Brave New World

Chapter 1 - Allein

Most of my friends hate the winter. I, on the other hand, love that season. I like the snow. I like coming back to the comfort and warmth of home after a long walk in the brisk air. I like being able to wear my black hat and long black trench coat. And when it’s really cold I use my red shawl as a face mask leaving only my eyes exposed. I think that looks totally badass on me. I don’t know what others think about it, nor do I care.

Today, however, the weather was a bit too much winter, even for me. The blizzard of the century they called it on the news. This wouldn’t be so bad if I could have stayed at home, but I had received an emergency call from the lab that the freezer that held the ice cores I had drilled on Greenland had broken down. Many months’ worth of research, not to mention the money it had cost to get those cores, would go down the drain if those ice cores melted. This left me with no choice but to leave the comfort of my home and walk to the lab. The irony of having to brave the worst blizzard I had seen in my life to prevent my ice cores from melting wasn’t lost on me.

Thankfully the problem was easily fixed, and after a couple of hours I was ready to go back home again. At least half a meter of snow had fallen since I had entered the lab, and there was no end in sight yet. I didn’t like the idea of going back outside -- it would be dark soon -- and I liked the idea of braving the blizzard in the dark or spending the night at the lab even less. So I decided to man up and get it over with. I pulled up my shawl and lowered my hat as much as I could. I clenched my coat tight with one hand and used the other to hold down my hat. I pushed the door open while closing my eyes to shield them from the cold winds and stepped outside. To my surprise I didn’t feel snow blowing in my face or the wind tugging my coat. I opened my eyes to see what was going on, only to be left dumbstruck.

My view couldn’t have been more different from what I had expected to see. Instead of the university campus covered in a thick layer of snow, I saw what appeared to be a vast open landscape bathing in the golden rays of a sunset. Instead of hearing the winds howl through the streets, I could clearly hear the rhythmic sounds of waves crashing onto the rocks somewhere behind me. I turned around only to find the door I had just stepped through gone. Hell, the entire lab was nowhere to be found!

My first reaction to this sudden change in scenery was to refuse the information my brain was receiving. What I was seeing and hearing couldn’t be the truth -- the cold must have gotten into my brain, I must be hallucinating!

My second attempt at making sense of this situation was to try to convince myself that I was dreaming. The blizzard, the cold, this place, it was all just a bad dream. Only in dreams could one be teleported to a totally different environment in the blink of an eye. A few short painful tests later and that theory crumbled.

My last desperate attempt at making sense of the situation was playing the ‘I must be dead’ card. I checked my pulse and concluded that I was still very much alive. Having run out of possible explanations, I was left with the startling conclusion that no amount of logic could explain what had just happened to me.

I checked the pockets of my coat and found my phone. I hoped I would be able to find a signal so I could call for help, but as soon as I took the phone out of my pocket it disintegrated. My jaw dropped. Not only did I inexplicably find myself teleported to an unknown location, I also saw a solid object turn into dust without any detectable force acting upon it! That sure was a lot to process.

Thankfully I do not easily panic, so I quickly recovered from the shock of seeing my phone crumble. I checked my pockets to see if my other possessions were still there. I discovered, much to my dismay, that both my wallet and music player had disintegrated, too. My other possessions still seemed intact, though. I was left with a pencil, a notebook, my grandfather’s golden wind up pocket watch, a full pack of paper handkerchiefs and a measuring tape. That I was carrying a measuring tape around surprised me. Then I remembered finding the tape while going through the inheritance of my recently deceased grandmother. Apparently I had put it in my pocket and had forgotten about it. Somehow these objects, my clothing and myself seemed to be immune to the force that had disintegrated my other stuff. It bugged me that I couldn’t determine what the apparent selection criteria were for some objects to disintegrate and others to remain unaffected; for now that is...

Upon closer inspection I found that the pocket watch still ran, although the time it displayed was entirely different from the time I had supposedly left the lab. This seemed strange, whatever brought me here also changed the time on my watch, or did I black out without even noticing it? After pondering it for a moment I put the objects back in my pockets; then decided to sit down and take a moment to let this all in.

I was overcome with the urge to just close my eyes and wait for all this to pass by. Of course I knew that the chance of that happening was nonexistent, so I pushed those thoughts away. After overthinking my situation I concluded that there was no reason to expect any help. Somehow I had found myself in a survival situation and it would be best to start acting accordingly. It was just me versus the wilderness now. This thought both frightened and excited me at the same time. I strengthened my resolve to make it through this, for I’ll be damned if I let this situation get between me and my PhD.

I remembered from watching many hours of survival programs that one’s first course of action should always be to get your bearings and make a plan. So I got up again and began to observe my surroundings.

I was standing near the edge of a near vertical cliff. All I could see down the cliff was water, the salty smell led me to believe it was either a sea or the ocean. Where I was standing the sea came up to the cliffs themselves, however, I could see some beaches at the foot of the cliffs in the distance. The land near the edge of the cliffs had a gentle slope and was covered with lush grass, low growing bushes and countless flowerbeds. Further inland the land flattened and the grass gave way to what looked like a bog. I could see many streams that cut through the bogs and the grasslands and eventually disappeared between the cliffs. I assumed they emptied out at sea. There didn’t appear to be any trees, which greatly enhanced the vast and open feeling of this view. The landscape reminded me of some pictures I had seen of the Faroe Islands, or perhaps the northern Scottish coast.

I must admit the view was magnificent, but there did not appear to be much that could shelter me from the elements. More disturbingly, I could not distinguish anything that indicated that people had ever set foot in this place. I got the feeling that I would be spending the next couple of days alone.

I turned my attention to the sky. The Sun appeared to be climbing instead of setting, so it must be morning rather than afternoon. This was good, because it gave me more time to try to find a more convenient location to spend the night. Also if the sun was climbing that must mean that’s roughly east, which implied that the bogs were to the south and the sea was to the north.

Having gained a general understanding of my surroundings I turned my attention towards the key elements of survival: food, fire, shelter and water. Since the area was covered in little streams that seemed clear enough to drink from directly, water wasn’t going to be an issue. With no tools at hand and no obvious fuels, getting a fire going was not going to happen. My best bet at starting a fire would be finding a way down the cliffs to look for dry driftwood. Unless I got lucky and found a cave somewhere I wouldn’t be having much shelter, either. Thankfully I was dressed for really bad weather before I got here, so I wasn’t going to get cold any time soon. For food it seemed I’d have to make due with berries and perhaps bird eggs.

There were some low growing berry plants nearby. I didn’t recognize the berries, but they looked a bit like blueberries. I wasn't sure if they were edible or poisonous, but I remembered a couple of simple tests. I plucked one, popped it and then rubbed its contents on my skin. If the skin got irritated the berries would be a no-no. Nothing happened, so I moved on to the next test. I put some of the berry’s insides on the tip of my tongue and waited a moment for my tongue to get irritated. Again nothing happened; I was now confident enough to try a taste.

I had never had tasted a fruit so naturally sweet as these berries. They were like little delicious sugar bombs. Using my hat as an improvised basket I plucked as many as I could carry. Once I had filled my hat to the brim I was satisfied with the harvest and ready to get moving.

Since wetlands are usually bad news I decided to avoid them if possible. Consequently I had to stay in the green strip of land between the bogs and the sea. This left me with only two options: follow the coast roughly towards the east or follow the coast to roughly to the west. There wasn’t any obvious reason to prefer one direction over the other; I decided to go west based solely on my preference for walking with the sun to my back.

After walking for a bit it was getting warmer. I removed some excess clothing; I made a makeshift bag out of my sweater, and continued my journey.

Not much happened during the next few hours except perhaps for being served more magnificent views. The Sun was now high in the sky and I checked my pocket watch. The time it displayed was a little past 1 pm. I was now certain that whatever brought me here also set my watch to the local time. Realizing that one fuck up with winding up the watch was all I needed to lose track of time, I resolved myself to wind up the watch every time I would look at it.

After tending to my watch, I decided it was time for a break. I cautiously approached the edge of the cliffs, where I sat down and ate some berries. While looking around I noticed a crack in the cliffs a bit further ahead; which might provide a way down. At the feet of the cliffs near the crack there appeared to be a small beach. This was promising enough for me to make the crack my short term goal.

It took two more hours of walking to get to the crack; thankfully it looked descendible. I decided to take a calculated risk and started the descent. The way down was actually pretty smooth and I reached the bottom without much trouble. As I had observed from above there was a small beach made of pebbles. I looked around and noticed several pieces of driftwood scattered along the beach. They seemed dry, so I collected them. I also found a thin rope made of a material I didn’t recognize. The rope appeared silky and was surprisingly strong for its weight. It didn’t look like anything that I knew was used on ships. I’m no expert on sailing materials though, so I assumed it was a new type of rope. The rope was perfect to tie up the driftwood and allowed me to hoist it on my back.

The way back up was a lot harder than the descent, but eventually I made it. By now it was late afternoon and I was hungry and tired. I looked for a place to spend the night, but the search didn’t prove fruitful. I resigned and settled for a soft patch of grass. Guess I’ll spend my first night here under the stars. The sky was clear, though, so with a bit of luck it would stay dry.

I tried to make a fire with the driftwood I had collected and failed miserably. Too tired to continue trying, I decided to watch the sunset instead. Upon seeing how beautiful the sunset actually was; I regretted never having taken the time to enjoy one back home. I resolved to watch sunrises or sunsets more often when I get back home.

After it had gotten dark I lay on my back to stargaze. A couple of minutes later I came to the sudden realization that I didn’t recognize any constellations. Since I’m quite familiar with the northern night skies this implied that I wasn’t in the northern hemisphere. But if I was in the southern hemisphere, then why was the Sun at midday in the south and not the north? Unless the earth suddenly switched its rotating direction -- which could also explain these two observations -- could it be that I was not on earth anymore?! Neither explanation made any sense, but then again, what actually did in this world? This realization hit me like a jackhammer and kept me awake for a long time. Eventually, though, my fatigue overcame my worries and carried me away into a restless sleep.

Great first chapter. good work

There is a weak point though ... and it isn't in the story, story is perfect:
Even though I think those "what you should expect" lines should go, first issue with those are spoilers, second issue is can trigger discussion they could talk that no one likes.

MetallumOperatur:
I made some changes to the "what you can expect" part. What remains is some technical talk about the writing process: me adding maps, using metric, shit like that.
The part about my view on the mamono vs humans was added to state clearly how I view mamono and how I treat views that differ so much that it becomes unbelievable to exist in the same world. But, it works both ways, so I added a line for that. Hopefully this helps to avoid confusion somewhere down the road. I added the part about intelligence, for imo no mamono can be smarter than the writer of the story. Practically speaking: this doesn't effect any of the active stories. If stating this doesn't sit well with people, I'll remove it.

Finally about the elves: IMO teasing stuck up elves is mandatory for everyone who enters Elizabeth's territory! :-P

Fun fact: except for the pocket watch, all the other stuff the MC has on him, is what I found in my coat when I examined it's pockets for this story :-P

mdude009:
So you've decided to finally take the plunge and throw yourself to the wolves have you? I look forward to this.
Good first chapter, a little slow but then again most are since it takes some time to build up momentum.

Non-sense, you have google so monsters can know stuff that you personally don't, that's how I wrote Adelaide.

Malise:
Interesting story, well written story. You are the talented writer, without a doubt.

I am not so certain about your choice to point out something that seems to be one of the greatest conflicts inside the community, regardless of my opinion on the matter it may be better to leave some things unspoken.

Knowing a lot of stuff is not necessarily intelligence. I was thinking more along the lines of the chances humans have to outsmart a mamono being reasonable, which is what most stories seem to use already. Actually many stories have the human functioning as 'the brain' of the group :-P

Easy on the praise here; the reason it's readable is due to tyger's feedback :-P

Looks good so far. =)

Chapter 2 - Imaginaerum

The next morning I woke up hungry and feeling like shit, but I had no other option than to continue my search for civilization. I gathered my things and tried my best to push the thoughts of the night away. Not being able to change anything about my circumstances sucked, but I had to make the best of it.

After many uneventful hours of walking and berry plucking I came across a rather remarkable formation in the cliffs -- a narrow strip of land extended straight into the sea like a huge natural breakwater. The top of this formation was perfectly flat, covered in grass, and on the same level as the cliffs it spawned from. It looked like a green highway leading off into the horizon. My curiosity was sparked and, against better judgement, I headed down the formation. The strip of land I was now walking on couldn’t be much wider than 50 meters, and on both sides the cliffs were a literal straight drop to the sea. I estimated the height of the cliffs to be over a hundred meters.

Apparently the formation extended further than I had first suspected; it took me nearly an hour to reach the head of the cliff formation. The head ended in, again, a straight drop to the sea. At first glance it was a disappointment; other than the view, there seemed to be nothing of note. But first glances can be misleading, and upon closer inspection I found a stair hewn out of the rock slowly winding down the cliff’s edge. The stair was narrow and had no fence. An iron chain anchored into the rock followed the stairs down provided something to hold on to. This stairway was the first clear sign that there was at least some sort of civilization here. Even though the descent looked scary, I wasn’t willing to let this chance slip. So I undid myself of all unnecessary weight and started to descend the stairs, while tightly holding on to the chain.

When I was roughly halfway down the cliffs the stairs suddenly ended on a small plateau. The plateau couldn’t be more than two meters across. A tunnel going straight into the cliffs connected to the plateau as well. This tunnel led to a narrow winding staircase, much like the ones on could find in old mines or castles. I peered down and could see light coming from below, so I continued my way down. Having walls on both sides of the stairs sure made me feel a lot safer.

The stair was short; it only went down a couple meters, and then led into a large circular room. Large slits in the rock served as windows. They were placed regular intervals all around the room, providing plenty of lighting. Across from the entrance there was an alcove with what appeared to be shelves hewn into the rock. To the sides of the room there were several smaller alcoves between the windows, each containing a stone tomb chest. In the middle of the room stood a stone slab. The slab was around two meters long, a bit more than half a meter wide, and was raised roughly one meter above the ground. The slab reminded me a bit of a box spring bed. Some sort of tablecloth or blanket was spread out over the slab. I guessed it functioned as a place to lay the deceased down on before his or her entombment. Even though I had no idea what to expect when I descended the stairs, but finding a burial chamber at the end still surprise me.

As I walked through the room I noticed that all except for one of the tomb chests were plain, had rough edges, and had no writing or what so ever on them. I suspected those were reserved for burials yet to come. The decorated one was covered in delicate stone carvings depicting leaves, plants, animals, and various mythological women with animal body parts. Only a couple of words were written on the lid of the tomb chest in a language that I didn’t recognize, yet felt strangely familiar; somehow I could to read what was written there. Nevertheless, I didn’t learn much other than the deceased being female. The thought of trying to lift the lid and see if she was buried with anything useful crossed my mind, but I wasn’t desperate enough to justify grave robbing to myself.

In the larger alcove I found many things that could be used in some sort of burial ceremony, and might prove invaluable to my survival: a small ceremonial knife; some ceramic and metal pots containing various powders; multiple small amphorae; a flint; and more blankets. I broke the seals on the amphorae to check inside; they contained various strange liquids. I wasn’t sure where most of these liquids were used for, but at least a couple I recognized as scented oils. I was especially happy with the flint and the oil, for I had now good hopes that with the driftwood I had brought with me I might get a fire going.

After finishing inspecting the room I checked my watch to see that I had a couple hours of daylight left. I concluded that this room provided the best shelter I could hope for, and decided to spend the night there. I brought my belongings, that I had left at the top of the stairs, down to the burial chamber. Then I took the lightest blanket and went up the stairs again. On top of the cliff I spread the blanket and plucked as much grass as I could find. I folded all the grass in the blanket and returned to the burial chamber.

I used the blankets and the grass to make a nice soft bed for myself on top of the stone slab. Then I picked a good spot for a fire, and used the flint and oil to light the driftwood. This night I was going to sleep comfortably. For dinner were yet more berries, but at least this time I could warm them and pretend it was a decent meal.

It was only after I had finished all the tasks to prepare for the night, and had some time left that I realized something felt off. I couldn’t immediately put my finger on it, but after a couple of minutes I had finally figured it out: The large windows went all around the room at regular intervals. Now this wouldn’t be so strange if this room happened to be in a tower, but that was certainly not the case. I checked the windows over at where I guessed only the rock of the cliffs should have been.

“Holy crap! Did I walk over THAT?”

I had no idea how I could have ever missed it, but I was gazing at what had to be the largest natural arch I had ever seen. The distance the arch spanned must have been at least several hundred meters. I never could have imagined that such a natural rock formation was even physically possible, yet I was looking at it with my own eyes.

The rock windows were large enough for me to climb in them and sit down. While gazing upon the natural arch I did another discovery, maybe not as spectacular as the arch but equally amazing: Outside there was a gentle breeze, but inside the air inside was perfectly still, even though none of the windows was sealed off. And again this world had managed to surprise me.

The things I had witnessed the last days were amazing, but each new wondrous discovery also put another nail in the coffin of the hope I had left that I might still be somewhere on earth. Due to having witnessed several violations of the laws of physics, the possibility that I might not even be in the same universe anymore presented itself. But I wasn’t ready yet to accept such wild theories yet; the fact that I might not be on earth anymore was more than enough to handle at the moment.

I spent the evening gazing out of the windows contemplating everything I had seen and experienced so far. I had to admit that, given the circumstances, today was a good day. I had found shelter, had found many supplies, and had managed to get a fire going.

To organize my thoughts I used the remaining hours of daylight to write down some notes and observations in my notebook. Maybe that keeping some sort of logbook would help me answer some of the many questions I had. I started with writing down a list of items that were destroyed by my “teleportation”. I looked at the list and noted that both my mobile phone and my music player contained electronics, but the wallet seemed to be the odd one out. Then I suddenly realized that my bankcards and public transport card did contain electronic chips. It didn’t explain why my whole wallet had disintegrated, but it was the only common denominator they shared with none of the items that hadn’t disintegrated. When the darkness finally set in I used the last of the light to look on my pocket watch, and write down the exact time the darkness set in. I wound up my pocket watch again and went to bed.

As I laid down on my comfortable bed, I jokingly said to myself:

“Well great thing about dead neighbors is that they never bother you.”

After which I said good night to the decorated tomb and went to sleep. For the first time since I arrived here, I had the feeling things were going a little bit my way. Little did I know that I was dead wrong about both those assumptions.

Technical update:
 • If something is between "double quotations", colored, and italicized it refers to thoughts; if it is just between "double quotations" and colored it is being said out loud
 • The list of characters will be continuously updated. It it also the go to place if you want to know which color belongs to whom again

Challenge: The first one that figures out where my titles refer to and why, may borrow one of my companions for a day (they gotta be picked up first though) ;-P

Chapter 3 - Sweet Amber

Although I’m not unfamiliar with the concept of morning wood; this morning I woke up feeling like I was going to burst. The situation quickly escalated as more and more information entered my still groggy brain. First I heard wet slurping noises. Followed by the sensation that something was definitely happening "down there". And finally, as I opened my eyes I saw some goth chick bent over sucking my member. She had straight long black hair, her skin was unnaturally pale and she had some weird spots that appeared to be…. “Holy fucking shit! She’s a frigging zombie!?” my mind suddenly screamed.

I had often imagined surviving in a post-apocalyptic zombie infested world. Always imagining myself as the hero that beat the odds, the one that survived where so many others couldn’t. Reality, however, was much different. I wasn’t the almighty zombie slayer that could kill a zombie in the blink of an eye, nor the cunning survivalist that managed to evade countless zombies time and time again. No, the cold hard truth was that I was too flabbergasted to even react at all.

A few seconds later the zombie girl's assault on my member reached its climax. Still dumbstruck I had no idea what the hell was going on, and felt more like I was watching a strange porn video rather than being involved myself. The zombie girl, on the other hand, did not waste any time and eagerly sucked up my load. She then let go of my member, raised her head, and looked me in the eye. “Talk about creepy...”

Her position allowed me to look straight down her loose dress and gave me a perfect view of her "assets"; she wasn't wearing a bra. Under different circumstances I would have loved to study the topography of her flesh in detail, but now I had bigger problems on my mind. I shifted my attention to her face, and was just in time to see her smile at me and then swallow. “Yup, definitely creepy...” Unable to resist I took another glance at her chest. Now, I might just have imagined it, but I could swear her breasts had grown a bit.

The zombie girl let out a soft moan and raised herself up. Apparently she didn’t know what to do next, because she stared sheepishly, almost expectantly, at me. The confusion finally loosened its grip on my mind, and I quickly pulled my pants up. “Did I just get raped?”

She didn’t appear threatening; she looked more like she was waiting for orders than that she was about to crack my skull open. Then again, she was a zombie and she had just assaulted me. I wasn't willing to take any chances -- this zombie had to be neutralized!

Before figuring out how to take her out, I wanted to create some distance between us first. I jumped out of bed to the opposite side of her. My sudden movements visibly confused the zombie girl. This was an opportunity too good to waste, so without further thinking I launched an attack. I jumped over the slab and slammed my shoulder into her chest. Being both a lot taller and much heavier than her worked in my favor; she fell to the ground, and I landed on top of her. Whether it was her turn to freeze, or she didn't even bother to resist at all, I didn't know. But, even without any fighting experience I had her pinned face down to the ground within seconds. I paused for a moment to figure out how to proceed from there, and then noticed the rope, I had found on the beach, lying within reach. I grabbed the rope, yanked her arms backwards, and tightly tied them together. Then I used the remaining rope to tie her legs together as well. This entire “fight” she had only let out a couple of moans, and hadn't defended herself at all. Which I thought was rather strange.

“Well that went surprisingly easy” I thought to myself as I turned her over, so I could look her in the face. I expected her to look angry, frustrated, scared, or whatever a normal person would look like who had just been overpowered. The look on her face, however, was one of excitement. She started to pant and I could see her arousal manifest itself through the fabric of her dress. Maybe it was just my imagination again, but I could swear her eyes were telling me that she had been a bad girl and needed “punishment”.

“Seriously?! What the hell is wrong with you? First you assault me and now want me to go 50 shades of grey on your ass?” I yelled, and immediately realized how stupid those questions were. She’s a zombie why the hell should she even be able to understand English? Nevertheless, she replied my questions with seductively biting her lips and letting out a moan that suspiciously sounded like a horny yes. I couldn’t help but notice that it was rather sexy.

Since I had no time to come up with a plan other than “neutralize zombie threat”, I had not thought about what to do with her now that I had her properly restrained. I decided to just leave her lying there, while I took a break to figure out how to proceed. The moment I got off her, the girl started to make soft sobbing sounds. I wasn’t in the mood to let myself be guilt tripped into doing something stupid, so I ignored her sobbing, and headed for the stairs.

My intention had been to ascended to the platform and create some distance. But, before I reached the stairs I noticed that the fire was tended after and there was a pot placed over the fire. I checked it and found a couple of tuber like plants boiling inside. This was strange; I couldn’t remember a vegetarian zombie in any of the movies I had seen. Could it be she made this for me? Or did she prefer vegetables in her human soup?

Meanwhile the girl had stopped sobbing and different sounds started to come from her direction. I turned around to see her struggling with her bonds. Once she noticed that I was looking at her she stopped moving and seemed happy with the attention. She began moaning as if she was trying to say something. Whatever it was I couldn’t understand it.

I sat down on my makeshift bed and started to weigh my options. It didn’t take me long to decide what had to be done, for there weren’t many options available to me. I got up, walked over to the tied up zombie girl and kneeled next to her. “It seems you’re not entirely mindless after all; I guess we have to figure out some way to communicate. Now don’t go do anything stupid, alright?” Then I leaned in and undid her bonds.

That's the thing about MSG Island. Wherever there is morning wood you can find a monstergirl who's ready to "chop it down."

emeraldtryst:
Geez...being mean to a sweet zombie like that. More like "mourning wood".

I'm sure you'll warm up to her. Or cool down--not really sure how it works =P

A must have necromancer tool is a blow dryer, shit get's cold. Didn't you take necromancy 101?

This zombie girl might be a carpenter :-P

For all the MC knows she could have been more like these kind of zombies ;-)

Since when is necromancy based on a7x song-texts?

A7x was actually a group of powerful necromancers who decided to put instructions into their music, you would have known this if you actually payed attention in "introductory history of the unspeakable arts"

Yeah I kinda used those classes to catch some sleep :-P

Malise:
First encounter was almost shockingly peaceful and also quite surprising considering the attention "victory conditions" received in the foreword. This may change soon, depends how fast can protagonist overcome the learning curve. Not everyone leaves home with US army's zombie slaying manual memorized I guess.
In any case, story is intriguing, well written and interesting to read. I am looking forward for more.

MC: "Nah why fight yourself when you can just as easy hire a Wurm to do your fighting for you..."
Wurm: "Mate it is time for you to pay "interest" over your debt to me!"
MC: "Interest over what debt?"
Wurm: "You know, from that time when you asked me to save you from that really dangerous looking Wererabbit!"
MC grumbles
MC: "Whenever I get my hand on that Danuki that managed to teach her what interest was, I'm going to pluck that bitch's fur alive.... And how is it that after 10 years she still remembers the Wererabbit incident, yet can't remember what color here own scales are..."
MC gets dragged away by a very happy looking wurm; you don't get the impression the MC minds though...

Funfact: A wurm's memory might dramatically improve if that specific memory involves intercourse.

Darkness-Ryu:
Well, color me be surprised. I was expecting a Wright or something but never would have imagined a Zombie of all things and you actually made the first encounter work. The, "morning wood," thing is a bit cliche but it does work of how you presented it with her sucking on it, lol. By the way; did you happen to read my mind or something with the slab curse? Cause the reason why I changed it to like that is because I was thinking of the curse and plague could either be a good or a bad lust. Indicating that the spirit was probably a trickster spirit cause it knew the true meaning of the slab and didn't want you to experience what would happen if you kept it. (Even though you didn't take the slab), but I'm sure you get at what I'm talking about, lol. Great job though, can't wait for the next one and kudos.

tygertyger:
In this case, it was the zombie girl who, "took the slab." ;)

Chapter 4 - Black and Silver

Quite a few questions and observations had crossed my mind before I had made the decision to untie the zombie girl. For a moment I worried that she might have infected me with something nasty, but she looked well-groomed, clean, and she certainly didn’t smell like a corpse -- she actually had quite the pleasant scent, but I couldn’t put a label on it, though -- so from a health perspective I would probably be just fine. I wondered where she came from and made a mental note to check the lids of the tomb chests afterwards. My main question, however, was why she had thought it would be a good idea to go and give a random two meter tall guy a wake up blowjob; I just couldn't get my head around that. Also the image of the change to her physique after she had “consumed” my load kept bothering me. I wondered if it had affected her whole body or just her breasts. I felt this was something significant, but I couldn't figure out what that significance was.

When it came to making the decision on what to do with my prisoner, I reasoned that her behavior didn’t suggest any hostility towards me; this girl had the perfect opportunity to harm or even kill me while I was still asleep yet chose to give me head instead? Also I found it hard to believe that if she meant me harm she wouldn’t resist at all when I attacked her, not that it would have mattered much, though; I had obviously a height and weight advantage. Unless she was playing some risky mind game, the most reasonable explanation would be that she actually meant me no harm. It appeared she was more interested in getting laid than in harming me, though I was completely in the dark to the why of this. Furthermore the boiling tubers could mean she was trying to help me out here, and if that's the case I was most certainly better off with than without her. If the catch turns out to be more fellatio, then that would be a sacrifice I was willing to make.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The zombie girl stayed calm while I was untying her arms and legs. When I was done I got up and offered her a hand to help her to her feet. She got the meaning of my gesture and gladly accepted my offer. The touch of her skin was a strange sensation… she was room temperature. Once she was up I put my hands on her shoulders looked her in the eyes and said: “Look I don’t believe you meant me harm and I’m sorry for tying you up, but you scared me.” I wasn’t sure she understood what I was saying, but for a moment she looked a bit sad.

Before I had a chance to continue, my stomach did the talking for me and started to rumble. This triggered an immediate response from the girl. Her expression changed to a concerned one, she grabbed my arm, and led me towards the fire. There she let go of me, and fished the tubers out of the pot, and offered me one. “So it seems she’s not going for the human soup after all… Wait what the hell?! She just put her hand in boiling water and didn’t even flinch? What kind of sorcery is this!? … Ah fuck it, I’m way too hungry for this! I’ll just assume it is one of the perks of being a zombie…” I cautiously accepted the tuber, for fear of being burned. To my surprise the tuber was only pleasantly warm, and not scalding hot. The tuber tasted a bit like a sweet potato, and was a pleasant change in menu.

“Thank you. Hmm, these tubers actually taste rather good”, I said. My thanks made her visibly happy and she quickly fetched me another one. While eating I had finally some time to take a good look at the zombie girl.

The top of her head came well past my chin; I estimated her height to be somewhere around 180 cm. Judging from her face I would say she was in her early thirties, but given the fact that she is a zombie there was no way of telling her true age. She was quite the looker; she looked like she was of Southern European blood. Her oval face was complemented with a small nose; the tip of her nose was rounded and pointed slightly upwards. She had bright gray eyes and I could not find even the slightest trace of any other color mixed in the gray, which was both unusual and sexy as hell. Here lips were black but I was quite sure she was wearing lipstick and for what I had seen her teeth were shining white. Her raven black hair hung loosely past her shoulders and somehow seemed to steer clear from her face. She had a slender or perhaps even thin body, a long neck, and small shoulders. Her skin had a couple spots that looked like wounds where her skin had withdrawn revealing the muscles and in one spot even the bone underneath. Other than those spots her skin was flawless, though. From my earlier “observations” I estimated her breasts to be a large B-cup. She wore a simple loose fitting black dress complemented with simple black shoes. As I had noticed earlier she wasn’t wearing a bra and I suspected she wouldn't be wearing panties either. Overall she didn't appear to have any color -- it was as if she was sculpted in black and white -- which certainly got me intrigued.

Besides her appearance I had noticed a couple other things about her too. Her chest was heaving up and down, but there was no indication that she was actually breathing; she could either breath completely silent, or there was no air being pushed around at all. She moved remarkably supple, which was like the polar opposite of how zombies often were depicted in the movies. She moved with considerably more grace than I did, but I have to admit that doesn’t take much. She didn’t appear to be able to speak, but she sure knew how to moan, and they all had this suggestive undertone.

She noticed I was checking her out and she smiled shyly at me, she even turned her head a bit sideways. “You have got to be kidding me, this girl is suddenly shy?!” I couldn't suppress a smile at that myself, and decided to go and try figuring out a way to communicate with her.

“Do you have a name?” I asked. She looked at me, but she didn't react in any way that could be interpreted as an answer to the question. No surprises here, but it was worth a try. I moved on to plan B and walked towards the decorated tomb chest. I gave it a quick glance over, but I couldn't find anything that indicated the lid had been moved. Nevertheless, I gestured for her to come over, to which she happily obliged. My intention had been to figure out if there was any relation between her and the chest, but apparently she had interpreted my gestures as an invitation for a good old fashioned bear hug. I was a little bit weary, but again everything indicated affection rather than aggression. I made a mental note that I had to be very careful with my gestures before I accidentally would suggest an even more intimate activity. I gave the other tomb chests also a quick glance over. I couldn't see any signs that one of the lids had been moved, nor had she show any signs near the chests that might have suggested one of those belonged to her. So I returned to fire empty handed.

“Well if I can't figure out your name, perhaps I should give you one. Would you like that?” Again I wasn't sure she understood what I said, but at least I had her full attention. It appeared that this girl reacted to the emotions I was conveying rather than to the specific words I was using. “You look a lot like a beautiful woman from a tv series I love. Her name is Morticia Frump Addams or Tish for short. So how about me calling you Tish from now on?” This didn’t get me a positive response, but I wasn’t ready to give up yet. I introduced myself by pointing at myself, “Erwin”. That was more like it, she began excitedly hopping up and down. Then I pointed at her and said: “Tish”. Bullseye! She looked like a kid who had just won a free pass to a candy store, and her moans sounded like she had just climaxed. Then she lunged at me, presumably for another hug… The force of the impact caught me completely by surprise and knocked the wind out of me; it was my turn to examine the floor from a close range, with Tish on top of me. This girl had a lot more power in her than I had expected.

“So far for being bigger and heavier…” Was all I could think before she pulled me in a tight embrace and passionately kissed me. The touch of her lips was again a strange sensation but at the same time it was arousing as hell. “Vanilla?”, oddly enough her lips tasted like vanilla, could it be flavored lipstick? I didn't dare to think of the other explanation. It took a good chunk of willpower to stop her from moving down and going in for a second round. I was surprised at how much effort it took me to control my lust, but was even more surprised that Tish had, albeit visibly disappointed, immediately respected my wish for no further intimacy. What did Tish have that made me more attracted to her by the minute?

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I had a lot of unanswered questions, but there was still the matter of being lost in the middle of nowhere. I couldn’t rely on Tish providing me with everything I needed, nor was I the type to settle for a hermit's life. I had to continue my search for civilization. Thus I started to pack everything that might prove useful to my survival. I had to make several trips up and down the stairs to get everything to the top off the cliffs. There I could figure out how I was going to carry all of this, not going to risk my neck on these stairs to avoid some exercise. My situation was desperate enough to justify “borrowing” things, but it didn’t justify disrespecting the deceased, so I returned the burial room to the state I had found it in, and left a note to explain who I was and why I had taken the items from the alcove. I checked my watch, wound it up, and climbed the stairs one more time.

All the time Tish had followed me around, curiously observing me. It was clear there was now too much stuff to carry by hand, so I made an improvised bag from one of the blankets and filled it up with the small amphorae and the “cooking pot“. I used the other blankets and my excess clothes to protect the items from bumping into one another. I had gotten the impression that Tish would follow me even if I would leave from the burial chamber, and decided to use that to my advantage. I mentioned her to come over, and patiently waited till she released me from the inevitable hug again. Then I grabbed her gently by the shoulders and turned her around. I picked up the improvised backpack and tied it around her shoulders to her back. She didn’t protest and simply waited till I was done. I turned her around again and she didn’t seem bothered at all by being used as a pack mule. I carried the driftwood and the remaining items myself. Finally ready to go I gave Tish a nod and we set off to the south.

Doesn't know the "It's a small world after all" song, so looks it up on Youtube

No amount of lovely coconuts can heal these wounds...

There is no hope left... Guess it's my time to say goodbye. But I'll go out the way I like. I'm gonna poke Kaori with a stick... Whaa... she angry, she's angry!!

tygertyger:
Of course you get the zombie to carry the bag. It's not as if she'll get tired or anything.

I like how this story is emphasizing the "survival" part of the Mostergirl Survival Game. Keep up the good work, Mets.

I feel this chapter could use some linguistic refining. But the time spent vs improvements made trade off is merciless. So here you go ;-)

Chapter 5 - No Way Out

We followed the cliffs to the south making sure we stayed well away from the bogs. Occasionally we had to cross a small gorge that was eroded by a stream coming from the bogs. Tish seemed to be in an exceptionally good mood, for every time I looked at her she was smiling. While walking she was making soft and pleasantly soothing humming noises. It might seem strange, but I was glad that she was with me now, for it made the journey a lot less lonesome.

It was late afternoon when I found a tiny alcove located in a side wall of yet another small gorge. A stream with crystal clear water flowed through the gorge towards the sea; I could hear the water plummeting down and hitting the waves below. Visibility of the surrounding area was limited due to the steep sides of the gorge, but other than that the location was perfect. The alcove was just large enough for us to spend the night sheltered from the elements. Which was great for today the sky had darkened and I suspected that it might start raining soon. As surprising as it might sound, drowning is actually among the most common causes of death in the desert, due to people getting caught by suddenly rising water levels in dried riverbeds or other cramped places. This gorge certainly qualified as a cramped space and with possible rain in the near future I didn't want to take any risks. I checked for signs how far the water level in the gorge might rise. Thankfully there was no evidence the water level ever rose high enough to threaten the alcove. With only a few hours of daylight left, I decided this was an excellent spot to make camp. I dropped the stuff I was carrying and removed Tish her backpack too. I noticed that she didn’t show even the slightest sign of fatigue from carrying the backpack. Either this girl had amazing stamina, or zombies never tire at all. Since my arrival I had already witnessed several occasions of the laws of physics being violated, so I wasn't so sure about the impossibility of that second option anymore.

We had made good progress, but I had been too focused on putting distance between us and the burial chamber. I had completely forgotten about looking for food, and now we didn’t have anything to eat left. Again it was my stomach that did the job of communicating this to Tish. When she heard my stomach rumble she gave me a hug, stole a quick peck on the cheek, and left. I decided to set up the camp while Tish was fetching us something to eat. I made a fire, got some water from the stream, put the cooking pot on the fire, and made us some decent beds. The amount of available space in the alcove forced me to put the beds much closer to each other then I liked, but I had to make do with what I got.

After I was done with the tasks, I sat down and stared into the fire. My thoughts drifted to what a strange day it had been. I pulled out my watch; if the sunset of yesterday was any indication I had only one hour of daylight left. I wound up the watch again and put it back in my pocket. Then I took out my notebook and entrusted the thoughts and observations of the day to the paper.

It was hard to believe that I had met Tish only this morning, and I realized I knew next to nothing about her. Yet somehow I had the feeling we would be stuck together for a long time. Therefore I thought it best to learn as much about Tish and her “condition” as possible. I already had a couple of questions about her I would like to see answered. Especially my observation after she had consumed her “morning proteins” continued to bug me, so I decided that would need further investigation. I could think of a simple and straight forward experiment that would either confirm or debunk my observation. I was sure Tish would be a more than a willing participant, but I wasn’t too sure about my own role in the experiment. I took the easy way out and postponed making the decision.

Then there was still the matter of my, or should I say our, survival. But, before I had the chance to reevaluate our situation my train of thoughts was interrupted by an excited yelp. Tish was back and pulled me in a tight hug. I didn’t know what got her so excited; perhaps she was simply happy I was still there. She showed me the harvest, and looked at me expectantly like a dog who had just returned the ball to its owner and was now waiting for him to throw the ball again. Tish had found enough tubers to last us at least two days, and she had brought a handful of red berries that looked like cranberries too. “Wow nice job Tish, and fast as well!”, I gave her a quick pat on the head to show my appreciation. Tish seemed utterly delighted with my praise; again she reminded me a bit of a dog. I grabbed a few tubers and put them in the cooking pot. Tish sat down next to me and laid her head to rest against my shoulder. I was still a bit tense with her snuggling up to me, but I didn't want to be a jerk and deny her right after she had saved my hungry ass.

Even though she probably couldn’t understand a word I was saying, somehow I felt a need to just start talking. I told Tish about home, how I came here, and how lost I was. My entire monologue Tish was hanging on my lips as if I was telling her the most interesting story ever told; I must admit that was quite the ego boost. The talking had loosened me up a bit, and I grew bold enough to let my curiosity run free and conduct a couple of tests on Tish.

“I’m not going to lie to you Tish. I miss home. I miss my friends. And most of all I miss my family. But, no matter how much I would like to, I can’t change the situation; I can only try and make the best of it. In my opinion learning as much as possible about this world and more specifically about you is the best way to start. So, I’m going to run some tests on you and hopefully learn a bit about you in the progress. Now this should not hurt, so just keep still and everything should be alright.”

I placed two fingers in her neck and checked for a pulse; this confirmed that she had no heartbeat. So far Tish didn’t seem to object to my intrusions of her personal space. I followed with gently putting the back of my hands against her neck and sliding them carefully down to her shoulders. Her skin was soft and, except for those wounds I had noticed earlier, smooth. It also confirmed my previous observation that her body emitted no heat. I withdrew my hands and pulled her a bit closer to inspect one of those wounds. There her skin was withdrawn and the underlying muscles were visible. They had a greyish color and appeared to be void of blood. When I curiously touched the wound she gave a small yelp and withdrew a bit from me. I looked up to see a tear rolling out of the corner of her eye; apparently I had stirred a sore spot. I immediately apologized and gave her a hug to calm her down.

This worked and her sobbing quickly faded. Thankfully the remaining tests would be less invasive. I fished the measuring tape out of my pocket, and helped Tish to stand up.

“Now please stand straight, for I would like to measure how tall you are.”

It appeared she had gotten the idea, and I was able to hold the tape along her back. I wasn't far off with my initial guess; she was 179 cm tall. The last test was checking whether the heaving of her chest was actual breathing or not. I concluded it was indeed breathing, but couldn't determine whether she actually needed to breathe, or if it was some lingering remnant of having been alive once. I wrote down the fascinating results of the tests, and in my enthusiasm gave Tish a kiss on the cheek to thank her for her patience.

After I had finished updating the journal, we -- Tish apparently eats normal food as well -- had a simple yet filling dinner; the berries served as dessert. They had a familiar bitter sour taste. It was comforting to know that at least I wasn't the only thing from earth here. It was already dark when we finished eating. We spend some time gazing into the flames, before I got bored and finally went to bed. Just before I fell asleep I could feel Tish moving in and cuddling up to me. I was too tired to object. “Clever girl...”

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The next morning heavy rain was pouring down. It was clear that we wouldn’t be moving anywhere any time soon. Tish was already up, and when I turned around I found her tending after the fire. “Wait what?! Tish isn’t wearing any clothes!”, I threw a quick glance down, “And neither am I…!”

Tish had her back turned to me and appeared to be cooking us breakfast.

“Ehm… Tish where are our clothes?”, I asked.

Meanwhile I couldn’t help but checking Tish's fine figure out. Without clothes it was clear that she was slender rather than thin, and she had a nice firm ass. Having noted that I was awake she got up and turned around, happy as always. I could see Tish in all her naked glory, and my attention was immediately caught by one specific feature.

“Holy crap Tish! That isn’t personal care anymore; that is fucking art!” I blurted out.

She had easily the most elaborate “ladyscaping pattern” I had ever seen, and that included all the weird shit I had seen on the internet! A wing pattern decorated her mons Venus; not some simple pattern resembling generic wings, but detailed crow wings with shading effects created by subtle differences in hair length and density. That was just insane... and hot as hell! Just how much time had she spend to get such a level of detail?

Tish offering me a cooked tuber broke the spell that gazing upon her glorious nether regions had cast on me. After we ate our simple breakfast of cooked tuber, I went searching for our clothes. I found my coat and our shoes neatly folded in a corner of the alcove, but the other clothes were nowhere to be found.

At some point Tish must have put one and one together, because she grabbed me by the arm and tried to lead me off into the rain. The rain wasn’t that cold, so I went along with her to see where she would take me. We walked to the stream where our clothes were spread out on the rocks. They were soaking wet and appeared to have been washed. I was somewhat pissed that I couldn’t wear my clothes until they would be dry again, but at the same time I appreciated Tish taking care of us. When I realized that we wouldn’t be moving in this rain anyway, my anger quickly subsided. The clothes had to be moved to a dry spot, though.

Since I was already naked and near the stream, I figured I should take a bath as well. The water in the stream was a bit too cold to bathe in, so I settled for a quick wash and scrub. Tish got in as well and mimicked my washing. After I got out, I grabbed the clothes and waited for Tish to finish. Then we climbed back to the alcove. Thankfully our campfire was still burning bright; I put our clothes up around the fire to dry. Then both Tish and I sat down as close to the fire as possible. Obviously that didn't leave much room between us. Naked, wet, cold, a romantic fire, and a beautiful and willing woman sitting right next to me… Cliché required us to slowly lean in to each other, passionately kiss, and then helping each other warm up through intense “exercise”.

However, I managed to keep my feelings of lust under control. At the same time Tish looked like she would love nothing better than to just nail me on the spot, but she too managed to control herself. Her face betrayed the inner conflict she was trying to quell, though. I wondered why she was putting so much effort in restraining herself; yesterday morning she seemed to have no problem with assaulting me. A crazy theory formed in my mind: “Could she be ashamed of what she did? If it was solely about satisfying her inner lust, then I can't think of a single reason why she didn't immediately jump in to exploit my moments of weakness, or didn't went for another round while I was asleep. Hell, she could probably even rape me if she wanted to. But, if satisfying her lust wasn't her goal, then why does she stick around? I had a hard time believing that this was how she would act if her sole motivation was to help a person in need. The only somewhat logical reason I could come up with was that she wanted something more, perhaps a relation!? But, if that's the case then why me? Isn't there some nice zombie guy out there for her?”. I realized that I probably have been giving off a lot of mixed signals. Poor girl had to be confused as fuck. I was reminded of a girl I met many years ago. It turned out she had a huge crush on me, and I was to oblivious to notice. Even when she said it flat out to my face I still had dismissed it as drunk people's talk. I never had a chance to apologize to her.

Slowly my thoughts drifted in another direction: “Why am I holding her off in the first place?”. I realized I didn't know the answer to that question, and in some way that was quite unsettling. “Was it because she is a zombie? No, that wasn't it. Was it because she assaulted me yesterday? No, I am not even that angry about it. I'm currently not involved in a relationship, so I don't owe anyone loyalty but myself. She is drop dead gorgeous, clearly means me no harm, and very much willing, so that couldn’t be it either.” There was no doubt in my mind that if she would have been alive, I wouldn't have acted so reserved; for some reason that felt hypocritical. The longer I thought about it, the more my reasoning was eroding my resistance away; I just couldn't find any convincing argument why I should keep resisting. Even after thinking about it, for what felt like a long time, I hadn't been able to come up with a single convincing argument that couldn't be countered. I gave up looking for more arguments, and decided to just take things as they came and give her a chance; I mean we can always stop right?

I got up to check the time. I fished my watch out of my coat only to see that the morning hadn't even fully passed yet; we had at least ten more hours of daylight left. I stood there and wound up the watch. And that moment Tish moved in for the coup de grâce to whatever remained of my resistance. Every task I could think of doing while waiting for the rain to clear had already been taken care of by Tish. I turned around to look at Tish with a mix of awe and amazement. Had she planned this all along?! Had she figured out that with nothing to do I grow bored quickly? And who’s here to capitalize on my boredom… Seeing the look on my face Tish responded with a most innocent smile and a couple of soft inviting moans; the twinkle in her eyes gave her away though. “Well I’ll be damned, she did plan this! Checkmate... Dang! I have to up my game; this girl is sly!”. I couldn't help but smile. She had definitely earned herself a reward, and I had a lot of time to kill… But, no need to waste a perfect research opportunity, right? So I quickly grabbed the measuring tape. When I turned to Tish again, I could see the delight and anticipation on her face, and boy was she sexy. “Well played Tish, well played...”

I definitely like this zombie. Though I generally like zombies overall, I particularly like when it's obvious that they've got more going on than is apparent on the surface. The MC gets it so that's just an added bonus.

And that h-scene...whoa. That's a little intense even for the MSG. At least it was behind a spoiler I guess =)

Yeah either go big, or don't bother at all ;-)

Malise:
I hope my comment won't create any uproar, but I must say that relationship development between Tish and Erwin is surprisingly subtle (all things considered) - and very well written.

Nah why should it? BTW already removed the part that might have given a wrong impression in which direction this story might go.

I don't know which part it was.

I am liking this story a lot! The pace is nice and relaxed (so far; I see drama in Erwin's future), and the love interest is most endearing. Undead normally aren't my thing, but I'd be willing to give Tish a whirl.

My previous chapters contained a mistake: I referred to the wetlands as swamps rather than bogs they are supposed to be. I've back edited all notions of swamps to either bogs or wetlands.

I've got chapter 6 for you guys, where the MC and Tish finally move inland; hope you like it.

Chapter 6 – Morning Mood

The next morning I woke up covered in, well, Tish. Her long black hair was draped over my body as was the rest of her. She was playing with my chest hair, but as soon as she noticed I was awake she let out one of her sexy moans and moved in for a kiss. With her hair now all over my face and me not yet fully awake -- I'm not a morning person -- I made a rather silly remark:

“Crow wings… raven black hair… ravens are crows… Hey, Tish you know you got a raven theme going on?”

Apparently sleep drunk me was on to something here; Tish let out an excited yelp and pulled me in a passionate kiss. When she broke the kiss she had this seductive smile on her face that told me I was in for a treat. She slowly moved her head down my chest making sure her hair brushed nicely along, and further down until she had found her target; and a generous treat I received… Well, that was definitely something I needed to remember, for …uhm… reasons. “Note to self: mentioning ravens around Tish gets me head. Don’t know why. Suggest field tests to learn more.”

After the morning surprise I got up, fetched my notebook and measuring tape, and sat down next to Tish.

“You should remember this from yesterday, right Tish?”, I asked.

She nodded. Yesterday before we spent a long time in very close company “preventing boredom”, I had done several measurements to determine every aspect of her breasts, with respect to size and shape, that I could imagine. I certainly had enjoyed taking the measurements, and might have discovered a new fetish, however, the main reason for the measurements was to put my observation from two days ago to the test. The test was straight forward: take measurements; “exercise” with Tish; redo measurements; compare results. So for the sake of science -- and definitely not because I’m a pervert -- I redid the measurements. I concluded that her breasts had grown with nearly half a cup size. I also noticed that her nipples weren’t pure grey anymore; they now had a hint of purple as well. And lastly I noticed that one of her wounds was gone. I examined the spot where the wound should have been, but couldn’t find even the slightest trace of it. It seems that somehow intercourse heals and enhances her body. That was definitely an observation worth writing down.

“Dammit Tish, now I have to lay with you for science too?”, I said jokingly. Tish replied with a moan and a hug, apparently content with my conclusion.

The rain had stopped and our clothes had dried, so we could continue moving today. I got dressed and albeit somewhat reluctantly so did Tish. With only two pieces of driftwood left our firewood stock was dangerously low, nor was there much food left. I tried a raw tuber and quickly concluded they tasted a lot better when cooked.

“We need to gather more food before we can continue Tish…”, I said while I showed her one of the few tubers we had left.

It seemed that she understood the message, because she moaned and was about to leave. Just in time I grabbed her by the arm.

“Can I come too? I would love to learn which plants you gather for us.”, I asked.

I could see her light up and she enthusiastically grabbed me by the hand, apparently eager to teach me. We followed the stream land inwards leaving most of our belongings behind, but as long as we wouldn’t stray too far from the stream I was confident that we would be able to find our camping spot again.

I was a bit weary of the bogs, but I trusted Tish to not lead us into danger. The land around us was quickly getting wetter and the vegetation changed as well. At some point Tish stopped and pointed to a field of generic looking weeds. She walked to them and started to dig. Soon after she was pulling tubers from the ground; they looked the same as the ones she brought with her two days ago. I followed her example and made sure that we got enough tubers to last us at least three days. Then Tish and I removed the greens and washed the tubers. We rolled them in a sheet and continued further land inwards. There we found some cranberry bushes and Tish quickly got to work plucking them. Again I followed her example, but soon was distracted by some of the strangest plants I had ever seen. The plant vaguely resembled a tulip, but instead of a flower had a spherical membrane that seemed to be filled with some sort of gas. The spheres ranged in size between a ping-pong ball and a tennis ball, and seemed to be lighter than air. The plant looked like a small balloon on a string. I plucked one and noticed indeed a slight upwards pull. I couldn't help but let my inner 9 year old out for a moment.

“Look at this Tish! This is awesome!”, and I let go of the plant.

It rose in the air like a little balloon; I could barely contain my excitement. Tish walked up to me, waited a couple of seconds to let me enjoy the sight a little longer, gave me a motherly kiss on the cheek, and gently put me back to work plucking cranberries.

I sighed, “Yeah I kind of deserved that… but that was so awesome.”.

I glanced at Tish; she had a faint smirk on her face. We gathered enough berries to last us several days and then headed back.

Back at camp I put the last remaining firewood on the fire and cooked all the tubers we found. Then we packed everything and cleaned up. I wanted to carry some of our stuff too, but Tish was rather insistent on carrying everything herself. And after how she had carried everything without breaking a sweat, I wasn’t going to press the issue. I glanced at my watch and saw it was already past midday. The preparations had cost us half a day, but hopefully would allow us to make good progress in thefollowing days. I wound up the watch, put on my hat, and then we set off to continue our journey.

The rest of the day not much out of the ordinary happened. We walked for five hours and made camp next to a stream in the late afternoon. Just before we made camp the cliffs had bent towards the South-West. We were quickly leaving the bogs behind. The inland became more rugged and the wetlands made room for much dryer terrain. The streams we encountered grew fewer and further apart. Soon we wouldn’t be able to rely on a steady supply of water anymore, so from now on we should bring water with us. Strangely Tish refused to eat that evening; every time I tried to give her a cooked tuber or a berry she declined. That didn’t seem healthy to me, but I wasn’t going to force her to eat something.

We spent the evening on our backs stargazing. The lack of light pollution allowed us to observe the night sky in great detail. I even spotted a spiral galaxy. In size it was probably larger than the moon, but I couldn’t compare them because the moon hadn’t risen yet. The center of the galaxy was bright and looked like a large star. The spiral arms, however, were faint and a lot harder to spot; I figured that under less than optimal circumstances they would be nearly impossible to see with the naked eye. I pointed out the galaxy and my other celestial discoveries to Tish and told her what I knew about the heavens. Even though all of my knowledge on the matter applied to the earthen night sky, she appeared to be fascinated by my talking. During mu monologue she snuggled up closer and closer. At some point I must have fallen asleep, because that is the last thing I can remember of the night.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The next morning I made the hard decision that with the exception of the smallest amphora, we had to ditch all the oil and use every container we had to carry water. Again Tish refused to let me carry anything other than the few items in my pockets. All the water must have increased the weight she was carrying significantly, but she didn’t bulge. She even carried the pots we couldn’t seal off in her hands without spilling any water. There wasn't much else to prepare, so we continued our journey early that day. We encountered only one more stream, where we took a short break and refilled, even though we had only used little of the water we collected that morning. When it comes to survival I figured that it was better to be safe than sorry.

It must have been around 1 pm when we stumbled upon a small road. The road came from the inland and went zigzagging down the cliffs towards the ocean. Optimistic that we would find a small fishing village or at least a home down there, we descended the cliffs.

“What the fuck!? … You have got to be kidding me! … Nothing!? … Absolutely fucking nothing!? Who the fuck builds a fucking road to fucking nowhere!?”, the disappointment had me fuming.

The road just lead off into the sea. Other than the road there was absolutely nothing that indicated people had ever been there at all. I just couldn’t get my head around why someone would build such a pointless road. Admittedly the road wasn’t much more than a trail of compacted dirt, but still I expected at least something down there; even if it was just a spot to moor a small boat.

It took me a couple of minutes to cool down. It was clear that, unless we were in for a swim, we had no other choice than to go back. I made a quick round to check if anything useful had washed up nearby and picked up a few pieces of driftwood. It was only enough to last us one night.

Back at the top of the cliffs I figured that the road had to go somewhere. I guessed that our best bet would still be following the road, rather than the coast. We said goodbye to the sea and headed inland.

We could move a lot faster now we had a road available. We only walked for three more hours, but I felt we had made good progress. The terrain around us had changed into rugged heathlands; beautiful, but there were few if any sheltered spots to make camp. In the afternoon we found a small depression filled with loose white sand right next to the road. It was probably the best spot we could get, so we stopped and made camp. We laid the blankets on the sand and sat down. I decided to save the fire wood for when we needed it to cook. And thus I ate my dinner cold. This time Tish not only refused to eat, but also refused to drink. Which got me slightly worried, so I decided to speak up:

“Tish, are you sure you don’t want anything to eat or drink? I know we don’t have much, but you should at least drink something; I wouldn't want to lose you, you know?”

The only effect my words had was provoking a smile and a hug. Either this girl was sacrificing herself for me, or eating and drinking were optional for her. Anywhere else I would have laughed at even the notion of that, but here with her being an undead and all I wasn’t so certain anymore. After dinner I laid down. The loose sand formed itself after my back and so was actually rather comfortable. I immediately fell asleep; the sun hadn't even set. In the middle of the night I woke up to a most spectacular sight. Colorful bands of red, yellow, and green danced along the night sky like curtains moving with the wind.

“Tish, are you awake?”, I whispered, and immediately got a soft moan as an answer.

“You see that Tish? The Aurora Borealis… It’s beautiful…”

Again she answered with a soft moan. She shifted a little and I could feel her hair brush the side of my face. We laid there side to side just staring up to the night sky. At some point I slowly turned around and kissed Tish. There was no need for words; Tish immediately grasped my intentions and eagerly joined me.

The sight of her silhouette against the night sky was simply breath taking. Every little detail of her naked body bathed in the continuous changing colors of the northern lights; the paleness of her skin greatly enhanced the reflection of the colors. That was all the stimulation I needed that night. And we quietly melted together.

When we finished neither of us bothered to get dressed again. I pulled up one of the sheets and Tish crawled up close to me and put her arms around me. Just when I was drifting away to dreamland she whispered softly in my ear:

“Love … you … Erwin”

I was already too far gone to consciously process what had happened, but that night I slept exceptionally well.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The next morning I woke up early. Although Tish was already awake -- now that I think about it she’s always awake before I do -- she was still clinging on to me as if afraid someone would come and snatch me away from her.

“I had this weird dream Tish… I dreamt that you could talk…”, I said drowsily.

“Erwin”, Tish replied.

That was by far the most effective wakeup call I ever had. “Tish! You can talk!?!”, I exclaimed utterly astonished.

She just grabbed me, pulled me in a hug, and softly said my name a second time. I sat there trying to figure out what just had happened. The only explanation I could think off was our joining together last night. I had already established that it heals her body, could it be that it restores her mind as well? For now she didn't appear to be able to say much more than my name, but it raised the question what she might be able to say in a couple of “healing sessions”. If we still would have been at the alcove, I might have considered to stay put for a couple of days and focus on getting Tish to talk. But with no direct access to water or food we had little choice but to continue onwards.

When Tish released me she handed me the measuring tape. “Oh my.. she’s into this? Or does she want to show me something?” Secretly I hoped it was the former, for science of course. We repeated the measurements and I confirmed for the second time that her body had further healed and grown. I wrote the new numbers down next to the previous measurements.

Then we got to work, preparing to resume our voyage. We still had enough food to last us one day, and enough water for two; perhaps even a bit longer if Tish indeed could survive on nothing but air and nookie. Since heathlands usually don’t provide much in terms of food and water, I wanted to make good progress today. Hopefully we could reach a forest or meadow before our supplies grew critical.

We left early and made good progress that day. In the afternoon we could see a forest in the distance. Eager to leave the heathlands behind, I decided to push it. The sun was already setting when we finally reached the forest edge. We were about to make camp when two tall women approached from the forest. They must have been around my height. They both carried a freakishly large sword on their back and a leather bikini covering their generous bust and a leather miniskirt were the only pieces of clothing they wore; they look like the women in a Conan the Barbarian comic. Their well-muscled bodies were covered with strange tattoos, but their other features were even stranger; they had a thick but flexible tail ending in what looked like a sharp spade and a single horn grew near horizontally out of the side of their head. The horn was bent in front of their forehead resembling a visor.

“What the fuck are they?!”

Hmm that could be a translational thing. In Dutch crow is both the name for certain species of birds as well as the name for the family of birds the Raven belongs to. If the family is called differently in English, then lets just assume Erwin made a happy mistake :-P

My my, I do like what you have going on here. Well-paced, interesting choice in companion, and now, as Em put it, potential death by snoo-snoo. Good imagery, not a punctuation out of place... Call me a new reader, let's see what you got coming up!

About time I uploaded a new chapter! Since chapter 7 got too big I decided to upload it in two multiple parts.

Chapter 7 - Alea Iacta Est

---------------
Part 1
---------------

Another time, another place

“You have to act Xaviera, the demon is behaving more hostile by the day; it will only be a matter of time before she comes for us! You want to throw everything we build together away?”

“She won't bother us. I've remained neutral in every political quarrel over the last millennia; she knows that.”

“This isn't some political quarrel you can stay out of, but direct hostility directed at you... at us! Don't you get it? She now wants to ‘inspect’ our home, and you are going to allow her!?”

“Drana, don't be such a drama queen. I'm certain they are only coming over out of scientific interest. A tour around the lab and a drink should clear everything up. You'll see, in less than a month you'll be laughing over how you ever could have worried so much over nothing.”

She sure sounded confident, and for a moment I wanted to believe her. But, for all the wits and insight Xaviera had when it came to trade or research, so oblivious and naïve was she when it came to politics or even her own security. Her obvious lack of interest in politics had allowed her to stay out of nearly all feuds that had played out in the last millennia. Many other powerful mamono had been wary of her at first, but over the years they had learned that Xaviera didn't care too much about what happened outside her own little world -- a patch of land surrounding her mansion. Slowly they had ceased to perceive her as a threat to their own ambitions. In the same time Xaviera had grown to trust that others would leave her out of their political schemes, a status quo she was more than happy with. But it also had made her ignorant and naive to what went on outside. Don't get me wrong, I am happy with the status quo as well, but contrary to Xaviera I kept myself informed on what happened outside. And what I learned doesn’t bode well. I believe that her trust in being able to stay neutral is misplaced this time. Something has to be done, at the very minimum the people that fall under our protection shouldn’t suffer from our incompetence. I hated to go behind my friend’s back, but she left me no other choice.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

These women were beautiful, weird, and terrifying at the same time. Since they were armed and we were not, I thought it unwise to piss them off. Being polite and hope for the best or try and make a run for it were the only options I could think of. I strongly doubted that we could outrun them with supplies and we probably neither could without. I felt myself tense up, but decided to take the gamble and hope they would prove to be friendly.

”Oh my, a man and a zombie coming from the heathlands? And a tall one as well; I don’t think I’ve ever seen a man as tall as you... How exiting!” the youngest looking one said with obvious enthusiasm. She had a light skin tone, bright red hair, dark blue eyes, pointy ears like elves, and she had easily the largest bosom of the two, those had to be at least double D’s. The weird features aside she was actually stunningly beautiful. Admittedly I have a soft spot for redheads and large breasts, and even more so for redheads with large breasts. Her demeanor didn’t suggest any hostility, but she had a look on her face that made me feel like I was a donut in a police station; she made no attempt to hide that she was eyeing me up and undressing me with her eyes. I swear she even licked her lips when she looked at me.

”That’s because you’ve never seen a man before Aisly. Though, I admit I’ve never seen such a tall one either. It is still no reason to embarrass yourself!” the slightly older looking woman replied dryly. She had a light purplish hair color, a darker skin tone than the one called Aisly, and pale blue eyes. Aisly looked like she wanted to retort, but a quick stern glance by the other woman made her shut up. It didn’t stop her from violating our personal space while checking us out, though.

“You speak English?” I was surprised; what were the odds that these women spoke English?

My question managed to raise an eyebrow and the older one answered, ”Never heard of this English you’re talking about, we speak common. The name is Frosya, and the one that’s drooling over you is Aisly…”.

”Hey! In my defense he has a nice ass!” the busty redhead interrupted. I couldn’t see her, for she was behind us, but the fact that she didn’t deny the drooling part was slightly disturbing. I needed to remember to wash my coat soon.

Frosya let out a sigh, ”For now, just keep your legs together Aisly!”

“Did she really just say that?!” I was baffled by the directness of these girls, and puzzled as to why this Aisly wanted me in such a way. I mean, it’s not like we’re even the same species. On the other hand, I felt a certain attraction to Aisly as well. First Tish, now Aisly, where did this appeal to these women come from?

Frosya interrupted my thoughts, ”It is getting dark already, so how about you two come with us and stay a couple of nights in our village. I’m sure the chieftain would love to meet you two as well. We can talk while walking, so how about you tell us your names and what you are doing here.” I was not so sure whether going with them was a good idea, but although Frosya’s tone wasn’t hostile, she didn’t leave any room for debate either. Given the huge-ass swords these girls were carrying I was in no mood to argue. Tish didn’t seem to be bothered by them too much, though, so we followed them into the woods.

“I am Erwin and this is Tish, or at least that is how I call her. I don’t know her real name and she can’t seem to tell me. Could you by any chance tell me where we are? I am kind of lost and she just seems happy to follow me wherever I decide to go.” My question again managed to raise an eyebrow from Frosya, but even before she had a chance to reply Aisly had picked up something that had spiked her interest and she was all over me again.

”So you are saying the zombie hasn’t claimed you yet?” she said. At the same time she put her arm around my shoulder and gently tried to pull me away from Tish. Tish in turn reacted by grabbing my arm a bit tighter and pulling me to the other side, away from Aisly. “So this is how those guys in the anime series feel when the girls go crazy and things get awkward…”

“Eh, claimed?” I asked cautiously, while I futilely tried to wiggle free from their embrace.

”She means claimed by a woman; some might call it married. Aisly let Erwin go! I don’t want to have to tell the chief the man got hurt because you started a tug of war with the zombie,” Frosya answered.

Aisly tried to protest, but Frosya didn’t budge. Eventually she gave in and let me go. Tish kept an close eye on Aisly while clinging real tight to me, evidently happy she had me to herself again but weary of the new competition. With the awkward situation temporarily resolved, I decided to pop the question that had been bugging me since I first laid eyes on these women.

“Forgive my ignorance, but what are you? I never seen women like you,” I tried to say as diplomatically as I could.

To my relief Frosya started laughing and replied, ”Well you must surely be a long way from home if you have never seen Amazonesses before!”

“Amazonesses, as in the legendary warrior woman from the Homerian epics?” I wondered. I didn’t have much time to think about it though, because when we rounded a corner I could clearly see the glow of several campfires close by.

”Welcome to Highleigh. You two follow me to the chief; she will decide what happens next. Oh and stay close... some of the other girls might not show the same restraint as Aisly and I do,” Frosya said. I noticed that she emphasized Aisly’s name, probably to send a message to the redhead.

When we entered the village, I immediately realized that even the word hamlet wouldn’t accurately describe the settlement. There were at best a dozen homes build around a clearing in the forest. In the middle of the clearing there was a large campfire and several young looking woman were sitting around it drinking and laughing. A large boar was being roasted above the fire. As soon as the woman heard our group approach one of the woman with light brown braids yelled without even turning around, ”Oy, Fros and Ais, you took your time, come have a seat and drink with us.”

”Sorry, can’t do; we have to brief the chief, we got guests to introduce,” Frosya answered. As soon as Frosya mentioned the guests the whole group of women simultaneously turned around to look at us. It was immediately obvious who they found the most interesting.

”The chief is in the longhouse, how about I’ll show the man around while you introduce the zombie to the chief?”, a woman light purple hair bound together in a long segmented ponytail answered.

”If anyone gets to show him around that will be me. You can help Frosya with escorting the Zombie!” Aisly immediately replied. To put weight to her words she did a step towards me. It was pretty clear that the “showing around” these women were talking about wouldn’t involve a leisurely stroll around the clearing. I couldn’t get my head around as to why all these woman were so interested in me. I wondered what the Amazonian guys would think of that.

”We can show him around together, two is always better than one when it comes to showing around,” the girl replied with a wink in my direction.

“Did she just suggest a threesome?”

Aisly thought about it for a second and then replied, ”You got a point there. So as long as you remember I get to go first, I’m game.”

“Guess with all the crazy things happening, I shouldn’t be surprised by that answer anymore… Where the fuck did I end up?”

Indeed, though I haven't really played since the Time Spiral block. =)

Malise:
It was quite a peaceful resolution of the problem. It neither involved scaring the challenging party off nor beating the crap out of them (or setting things on fire). My memories of the other stories are starting to be a little bit fuzzy though.

Time spiral, that is a long time ago, even before I started. I played between Invasion and Mirrodin, with a couple of relapses during the later blocks.

Don't be too quick with thinking the situation is resolved already ;-)

Alright here is part two of chapter seven. Decided to change my chapter naming policy, so chapter seven got a new name.

For those interested, here is a picture of how I imagine Aisly. Sadly the picture is without her monster features, so you gotta imagine those yourself. NB technically the picture is SFW, still wouldn't advise to open it on work, unless you're self employed:

Chapter 7 - Alea Iacta Est

---------
Part 2
---------

”For now neither of you is going to show anyone around here, they are both coming with me to the chief,” Frosya stated firmly. She then turned to us and continued, ”Please follow me.” Forsya turned around and resolutely walked to the largest hut I could see. Not sure whether getting double teamed by Aisly and the girl with the ponytail would be a good idea, Tish and I quickly followed Frosya. In front of the building Frosya asked Aisly and us to wait a moment outside while she would announce our presence. Then she entered the building. Left alone with Tish and Aisly I stood there a bit sheepishly waiting for Frosya to invite us in.

After about a minute Aisly broke the silence; the bravado she had showed before was now mostly gone and she almost sounded shy when she asked, ”Ehm, Erwin could you please help me tighten this?” I turned to her and saw that one of the few bands that held her bikini together had sprung loose leaving even more of her smooth skin exposed. Aisly was blushing, but she didn't try to cover herself up. She held the loose band in her hand and offered it to me. I was certain this wasn't a coincidence, but what else could I do than to oblige and tighten it again for her?

“Yeah, sure,” I answered, and I accepted the band from her outstretched hand. Aisly turned around and bundled her hair -- that came well past her shoulders -- together to prevent it from hanging in the way. Her tail was coiled tightly around her hips as if it were a belt. It didn't take me long to figure out where the band had sprung loose; tightening it again, however, was a whole different story. While I was struggling I noticed that the long black arrows on her skin were actually painted rather than tattooed and I wondered what their function was. After I finally had managed to tighten the band again, Aisly turned around and looked flustered. I had no idea how to handle the situation from there, but luckily Frosya helped me out by reappearing and inviting us in.

We entered the building, which consisted of a single large rectangular room. In the middle of the room a large fire burned bright bathing the entire room in a warm glow. On the floor were several large rugs from what looked like bears and wolves. The walls were lined with shelves, each overflowing with all kinds of supplies and weapons. Three Amazonesses sat around the fire and like every other Amazoness I had seen today their clothing consisted of little more than a leather bikini and miniskirt. They appeared to be a bit older than the Amazonesses I had seen outside; they looked more or less the same age as Frosya. However, older was relative here, for they all still looked like they were in their early 30ies at worst. Compared to Aisly and the girls outside, though, who all looked like they were in their late teens, they were the older ones. Frosya stepped forward and greeted them casually. I decided to stay at a polite distance and wait for further instructions. I could see the three women throwing curious glances in our direction, but contrary to the girls outside these women didn’t immediately focus all their attention on me, nor did they offer me suggestions on how to spend the night.

After greeting Frosya, an Amazoness with really long aquamarine hair spoke up, “Please don’t be shy and join us around the campfire, so we can get properly introduced.” She gestured for us to come and sit with them. The three women scooched up a little so we could all fit around the fire. I sat down next to Tish and Aisly sat down, a bit too close for comfort, on my other side.

“Lynn would you bring us the mead and something to eat, it would be rude not to offer anything to the guests.” One of the other two Amazonesses nodded and got up. Then the Amazoness with aquamarine hair continued, “Now that is being taken care off, how about we start the introductions. Frosya?”

”These two travelers are Erwin and Tish. Erwin and Tish these are Aedelind and Kayley. Lynn is the one getting us our drinks,” Frosya said, from her gestures I figured that the girl with aquamarine hair was the one called Kayley.

“A pleasure to meet you and thank you for your hospitality,” I said politely. As long as I had little idea what their customs were I decided to play it safe and watch my tongue carefully.

“A pleasure to meet you too. And don’t mention it; we rarely get visitors here, so it’s always nice to see some new faces. No need for the formalities, though, we like to keep things down to earth here,” Kayley replied with a vigorous laugh. They sure seemed nice, and nothing indicated any hostility towards us, but I remained somewhat weary of these woman especially after what just had happened outside. On the other hand, I knew these women were my best shot at learning anything about this world at all. And at least cutting the formalities would make my talking feel less forced. Before I had a chance to reply, however, Kayley continued, “I like to add to Frosya’s introduction that she, Lynn, Aedelind and I are the village elders. If there is anything you need or if there’s a problem just come to one of us and we'll see to it's solution. Now with that out of the way, I must admit I’m rather curious what you two are doing here so far up North; this place isn’t exactly populated. Is there any specific destination you are heading for?”

”To be honest I have absolutely no clue where I am, nor is Tish here able to help me out with that. But she helped me out big time with nearly everything else, and I would have been in a lot worse state if she hadn’t found me. But, that doesn’t change the fact that we are lost, so the only thing we are looking for is our way back to civilization. Hence we are very grateful that Frosya and Aisly found us and were willing to bring us here,” I replied to Kayley's question. I wondered if I was taking a gamble with telling them the truth, but I figured that lying here would probably be even riskier. I had no idea how well these women could read me, nor had I ever been a good liar in the first place, so the safest option would be sticking to the truth. I glanced sideways and saw Aisly's face torn between several emotions; it looked like she wanted to say something, but at the same time was scared of saying it. I didn't pay too much attention to it for Lynn returned with a keg under her arm and several large pieces of meat. She handed the meat to Aedelind who skewered the meat on a couple of sharp wooden sticks. It was only now that I noticed several narrow holes in the ground around the fire. Aedelind put the sticks in those holes and left the meat hanging over the fire to be roasted. Meanwhile Lynn had grabbed some wooden cups from one of the shelves and had filled each one with the contents of the keg. Tish and I were offered a cup first, then the Amazonesses all got a cup as well. I thought it was strange they offered me a cup before Tish, but I didn't pay too much attention to it. I thanked them for the drink and Tish let out a moan, which I assumed was a thank you. The Amazonesses didn't show any sign of surprise by her moaning; it even looked as if they understood what her moans were supposed to mean.

“Thank you Lynn,” Kayley said. She took a large sip from the cup before she continued, “So before you met Tish, were you traveling alone, or was someone else traveling with you as well?” Kayley then asked.

I thought it was a somewhat strange question; why would we ditch a traveling companion in the middle of nowhere? Well I guess she had to ask those questions to make sure nobody got left behind in that wasteland. ”Well until I met Tish a couple of days ago you could say I traveled alone,” I replied truthfully. Aedelind and Lynn looked as if I had said something utterly ridiculous and Aisly got even more restless. I had no idea why my answer to such a seemingly innocent question provoked such reactions, but I was glad that at least the chief managed to keep her cool. The glare she threw Aisly, however, was chilling.

“Are you absolutely sure you were traveling alone?” Kayley repeated her question.

”They think I'm hiding something?! Do they know something I don't?” I didn't like the direction this conversation was going, but I was kind of trapped here, so I replied a bit defensively, ”Well there might be a possibility I've been followed, but I assure you that if that is the case, it was done so without my knowledge. I’m not trying to hide someone if that is what you think.”

The expression on the face of the chief changed to a much softer one before she continued on a much friendlier tone, “I apologize I didn't want to question your word, it's just that a human traveling alone is rather…” she paused for a short moment before continuing, “... uncommon. But I think there might be an explanation that--" the chief couldn't finish her sentence because Aisly interrupted her.

”You heard him! He didn't have anyone before the zombie, and he only knows her for a couple of days! I'm not going to sit idle and see him send off as easy prey for some succubus, or worse some Loli, to claim and mistreat him! I like him! He is tall, looks good, and is nice! To protect him, I hereby claim him as my husband, anyone who disagrees will have to fight me!”

That's racist! :-P

Let's just say her judgement is somewhat clouded due to personal interest :-P

Heaven forbid someone spike the mead with lolification potion...

Is loli even a "race", either?

Well anyway, things have gone a lot better than I expected they would so far. Overall I have to imagine that this tribe is pretty good overall or they could have whipped up some random offense you'd committed like stepping too close to the elders and forced you to atone with snoo snoo.

Curious to see where this goes =)

It shouldn't be.
It's possible she hates children in general, which includes other young Amazons which are still at "loli age".
*or* She refers to particular individual using "loli" as nickname that has reason to be hated or feared like one from Clarux_Nox story *or* She has issues with monster girl species that have permanently "loli" appearance even as adults. Is Beast_regards story is to be believed they live in quite communal family clans called Sabbaths, so other name would be in place. Same story also suggests reason why they are hated or feared though.

I can reveal here she is just referring to Loli's as Mamono that look like children and not specifically a race. Though, small spoiler: she's probably thinking of a Witch there. More on that statement in the next part though ;-)

Chapter 7 - Alea Iacta Est

---------
Part 3
---------

I knew Aisly wanted me, but straight out “claiming me” right off the bat? I hadn’t seen that one coming and was too baffled by her bold announcement to be really angry with her. Frosya’s and Kayley’s reactions surprised me even further: they face-palmed in synchrony. Lynn, on the other hand, looked more surprised at their reaction than by Aisly’s declaration, and Aedelind had smirk on her face as if she had obtained first row tickets to a good show. Weren’t these girls in league with each other? Tish reacted by grabbing my arm as if to state her own claim. I threw a quick glance in her direction and saw that she stared intensely at Aisly, but she actually looked sad rather than angry. This whole mix of reactions was confusing; nothing made sense here. One thing was clear, though: someone had to tell Aisly that a marriage with me was not going to happen.

”First, I’ll decide for myself who I will marry! Second, we know each other less than an hour and you already want to “claim” or marry me? Where are your standards? Third, why would you even want me as a husband? We’re clearly not the same species! Shouldn’t you be chasing some Amazonian guy? And fourth, why the hell would you think it’ll be a good idea to threaten the person you want to “protect” with violence if he refuses said “protection”!?”, I replied.

I didn’t know what kind of reactions Aisly had been expecting, but apparently me objecting to the marriage wasn’t one of them. She even seemed shocked when I mentioned that she should find herself an Amazonian guy. ”How could you even say that?” she said weakly; Aisly looked genuinely hurt by my words. Too bad for her I wasn’t in the mood for sympathy right now; it was my freedom that was on the line, not hers.

Before I could reply Frosya let out a deep sigh and said to Aisly, ”That’s because he’s an off-worlder, a newly arrived off-worlder to be precise. He doesn’t know that the only men are human men, and that we need them if we want to procreate. Heck, with the exception of Tish here we are probably the first people he met on the island, and she clearly hasn’t been able to explain anything to him, yet! Dammit girl! Why couldn’t you just keep your mouth shut?” The frustration was clearly visible on Frosya’s face.

”What?! There are no Amazonian guys, and they need us to procreate? What kind of weird biology is that?” I knew that in rare cases two closely related species might produce living offspring -- the mule being the most notable example -- but their offspring is unable to reproduce themselves. Also such inter-species reproduction rarely occurs outside captivity. I’ve never heard of a species actually needing another species to reproduce; then again I was no biologist. ”Guess this is one of those things that can only be explained with “different world, different rules”. At least it does explain some of the behavior of these girls. It raises the question, though: how desperate must these girls be if they try to lock me down on sight?”

Kayley looked even more frustrated with Aisly than Frosya. “Don’t ever interrupt me again Aisly, unless you want to be known as the hornless Amazoness!” her tone was surprisingly kind for what she had just said, but there was no doubt in my mind that she wasn’t bluffing. She then turned to face me, got a much softer albeit sadder expression on her face, and then continued, “I had hoped it wouldn’t come to this. Although Aisly’s challenge was unwise and done out of naivety, once spoken out loud there is no backing out of it. We shall discuss the terms of the challenge and then Frosya will escort Aisly home!” The chief paused a moment before continuing, “I’m sorry I have to ask you this, but Erwin do you object to marrying Aisly? I really hate the position Aisly put you in, but objecting here will force you to fight her for your freedom. She might be young and a little bit naïve, but she means you no harm. There is no doubt in my mind that she will take good care of you, as will the rest of the tribe. You may even take Tish as a second wife if you so desire, and she will be welcomed into the tribe as if she were one of our own.”

I must admit part of me just wanted to accept this marriage offer, for I had no illusions on how a fight between me and Aisly was going to end. Also an offer to marry two beautiful women at once is something few straight men wouldn’t be tempted by, but if I accepted it would be a marriage out of fear for what might happen if I refused rather than one out of love. What was my life worth if I was too afraid to live the way I want? I was send to this world against my will. I had little hope I would ever see my family or friends again, nor my dog or the woods I so much loved to walk and bike in. But strangely enough these last few days also had brought me a freedom I hadn’t experienced before: there was no job, no study, and no responsibilities anymore, and it was liberating. The fear of having to live in uncertainty was what had kept me locked in a daily grind, and now that living in uncertainty was forced upon me it turned out far less terrifying than expected. In a sense I had enjoyed being out there in the wild. I realized that I couldn’t lose much more than I already had; the only things I had left were my freedom and time. It would be up to how I used those two that would determine whether I might find happiness or misery in this world. I was given the unique opportunity of starting all over, and this time the only rules I intended to live by were my own. ”An appealing offer, but I rather stay a free man. So yes I object even if that means I have to fight,” I answered.

”What! I don’t want to fight Erwin! I want to love and protect him!” Aisly looked absolutely horrified when she finally realized that the person she would probably be fighting was me.

“You should have thought about that before you issued the challenge!” Kayley replied bitterly. “Sweet, sweet irony… Your choice for freedom over being coddled makes you even an even more desirable husband for these girls,”—she sighed—“Let’s get this over with. Anyone else objects to Aisly’s claim?”

”We put him through more than we should have already, so I’m not going to complicate things. Besides, Aisly is a way better match for him than I could ever be,” Frosya said, the other Amazonesses simply shaked their heads to let the chief know that they wouldn’t dispute Aisly’s claim.

After the Amazonesses had made their choice, all eyes turned to Tish. She stood up turned to Aisly and spoke, “Erwin … free”. The words were followed by a couple of sad sounding moans. It took her visibly great effort to speak those words, but she looked determined. Then she sat down again and leaned her head against my shoulder. I had no idea whether that was simply a statement or if that meant Tish was getting in on the action as well, but apparently it was enough information for Kayley to continue.

“Interesting… Tish has chosen to refrain from claiming you herself, but has offered to champion your cause Erwin,” Kayley spoke out in response to Tish her moans.

I turned in surprise to Tish, somehow I had expected her to simply claim me as well, but it seems I had done her injustice with that assumption. ”Are you serious? You would be willing to risk your life for me without demanding anything in return? A kind offer, but I’m not sure whether I can accept, letting someone else fight my battles doesn’t feel right…” Tish looked at me and hugged me tightly before repeating, “Erwin … free”.

“It would be unfair towards Erwin to force him to make any further crucial decisions on the challenge without a good night’s rest and honest information on his options and their consequences. Therefore the final decisions and details of the fight will be postponed two days, so he can make a properly informed decision. Frosya, would you be so kind as to escort Aisly to her home and would you two sate the curiosity of the other girls and make it crystal clear that our guests are not to be harassed.” Kayley ordered. The other elders all nodded and got up to do their tasks. The moment Aisly was escorted out of the longhouse she threw a desperate glance in my direction. ”I’m so sorry Erwin-” She didn’t get the chance to finish her sentence for Frosya had grabbed her tightly by the arm and dragged her resolutely out of the building.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

”I know you are only 21 and haven’t learned much yet when it comes to men, but haven’t you been paying any attention at all? Didn’t his behavior strike you as odd? Didn’t you notice anything about his clothing? Didn’t you notice anything about the way he speaks? And most importantly do you have any idea how bad a situation you have put us in?” Frosya said with frustration as soon as they were well out of hearing distance of the longhouse.

”I just wanted him to love me. You know what might happen to him if he falls in the wrong hands. I like him and I don’t want that to happen to him…” Aisly said timidly, all the bravado she had shown when they had found Erwin was now nowhere to be found.

”You sure that’s the only reason? For it seemed to me that you’ve been thinking with your wet twat rather than your head. What did you think how things would work out after you stated your claim?” Frosya answered.

”Well I thought that”—Aisly’s voice broke—”I thought that he would be happy that someone wanted to protect him. I didn’t want to fight him, isn’t there anything you can do?”

As they entered Aisly’s home Frosya could see that Aisly was now on the verge of tears. Frosya guided her to her bed, sat down next to her, and put an arm around her. She let out a deep sigh and then continued on a much softer tone, ”We should have had this conversation much earlier. Tell me Aisly what color eyes does he have?”

”I don’t know,” Aisly whispered between a few sobs.

”Green. His eyes are green and they told me a lot. Either he’s got the best emotional control I’ve ever seen and he has been playing us like fools, or he’s an open book. I’ll bet my tits that he’s the latter,” Frosya paused a moment trying to find the right words. ”You see, men are like bees, not those honeybee girls, but normal bees. Now how does the flower get the bees to do what she need them to do?” Frosya asked.

”She lures them in with sweet nectar,” Aisly quietly answered between a couple of sobs.

”Exactly. They don’t threaten the bees; they don’t bully the bees; they lure them in. And that is exactly how you should have gotten Erwin to fall in love with you, if you want him to be of any use, that is. Believe me when I tell you that it's better to have a single man who chooses to be with you, than to have a 100 man slaves who don’t love you.” Frosya’s tone was almost motherly now.

”But I’m no flower. I don’t have sweet nectar to lure him with. I can’t impress him with magnificent fighting skills like the other girls. All I’m good at is scouting and hunting,” Aisly answered desperately.

”There is another reason for you, why claiming him the way you did was a really dumb idea. If any of the girls here would have objected you would have lost him to them. However, on your other points I disagree; you have a lot more going for you than you think. Didn’t I tell you his eyes told me a lot? Now let me repeat to you just a few thing those eyes told me: First, for an off-worlder who just arrived he is surprisingly tolerant of us mamono; even after your stupid claim he still didn’t hate us. Second, he likes that you’re tall, but not taller than him. Third, he absolutely loves your hair. And fourth, he has a really hard time keeping his eyes of these two, no harm in shamelessly using that information to your advantage!” Frosya said while she poked Aisly in the breasts, making her face turn bright red. ”You’re an Amazoness! You’re a woman! Don’t you ever think you don’t have the sweet nectar to lure a man in!” Frosya's enthusiasm quickly tempered when she continued, ”You knowing that you got everything you need to seduce him, doesn’t solve the problem your challenge poses, though. Sadly there isn’t much we can do about that, for now. We can only hope that Kayley manages to take away most of the tension you’ve created, so you actually have a chance.”

”You think he will beat me?” Aisly asked, shocked by the lack of confidence from her mentor.

”Like I said: men are like bees, unless they come in a swarm they can only hurt you a bit. I can tell Erwin has no fighting experience, so beating him should be easy even for someone as inexperienced as you. But, he knows that he doesn't stand a chance against you, yet still decided to fight… that’s the problem; a really big fucking problem!” Frosya answered solemnly.

Aisly did not get the "birds and the bees" talk. No birds were mentioned.

Malise:
Well, there wasn't any embarrassing conversation about actual act of reproduction either, hence it wasn't real "birds and the bees" talk. Thanks goodness. As far I understood it, they explained battle strategy rather than anything else. I must applaud for this choice, instead of complex and mostly mechanical explanation of tactics or particular fighting moves, it went for clever allegory: You often think a swarm of bees as a potential danger and you are late to realize only single sting can kill you if you are allergic. I've read enough MSGC stories to know where it leads - main character will curb-stomp the poor Aisly if not entire village next chapter. I feel bad for the girl. I wonder if there is any genre savvy female in the game.

True, gotta think of a way to fit a Harpy in there...

Now that would require Aisly having some really awful bad luck... ;-)

Yeah, Aisly ain't the sharpest tool in the shed; she's young, though, so there is still a lot of room for her to learn. Tish, on the other hand, seems to always be getting what she wants... ;-)

emeraldtryst:
Beautiful.

I love the "behind the scenes" chat for so many reasons, not the least of which was the suspension of the more cordial manner the MC was being presented. I definitely like to see that sort of awareness from the denizens of the land, especially the more experienced ones.

echoes_guy:
Caught up!
I'm with Em, I really enjoy this sort of self-awareness that we have going on here in this story.
That aside, Tish is pretty gosh-darn endearing. Though as she "heals", I'm wondering just what kind of person she'll turn out to be in the end. As I recall, once she gets enough energy she'll become a Wight...

MetallumOperatur:
Glad you liked that "behind the scenes" part between Frosya an Aisly, I really felt it would be nice to give some insight in the reasons as to why they act like they do. Cause let's be honest, this is a rather atypical welcome for an Amazonesses tribe ;-)

Can you already guess which rather obvious fact is going to be "revealed" (or confirmed) about Frosya in the next part? ;-)

Chapter 7 - Alea Iacta Est

---------
Part 4
---------
”Why would that be such a big problem, do you think he will cheat to try and win the fight?” Aisly didn’t get what Frosya was going at.

”Well in a certain sense you could call it cheating. Think about it Aisly: how could you win the fight yet still end up as the loser?” Frosya answered with a grim voice.

It took a couple of seconds for Aisly to realized what Frosya meant, but once she understood her face turned pale. ”Do you really think he would dare to do that? Why would he do such a thing?” she asked shocked.

”I don’t know for sure, but in his mind it might not be the worst possible outcome. We don’t know what his life was before he got here. We don’t know what he was forced to leave behind; for all we know, he already has a wife and children he will never see again. If he doesn’t have hope left that he might find some way back to them, then what is left for him? What does he have left to live for in this world? I might not know what he is going through, but when my husband died the only thing that kept me continuing on were our children and I also had the tribe to help me through it, but who does he have? If you want him as your husband, then you must help him deal with those feelings. Give him a reason not to be reckless. Threatening to take away one of the few things he has left ain’t helping with that.” Frosya answered solemnly.

”I… I never thought about… it was… that was never my intention to… you want me to throw the fight?” Aisly stammered as she started sobbing again.

Frosya couldn’t help but feel sorry for her. She knew how great it was to have a loving husband and it was something every girl in the tribe deserved to experience at least once in their lifetime. She could understand Aisly's eager to get this man all too well, but her approach drove him away rather than bringing him closer to her. ”Now, now, let’s not get ahead of ourselves doing rash things is what has gotten us in this situation; first we should wait and see what Kayley accomplishes. We got at the minimum two days to try and turn the situation around, and let’s not forget the zombie, she might turn out to be an unexpected ally in this situation.” Frosya tried to comfort Aisly.

”Tish? Why would she help us? She even offered to fight for him!” Aisly asked skeptically.

”Exactly, don’t you think her reaction is strange? She has a perfect opportunity to try and claim him for herself, yet refrains from doing so… Now why would she do that? She knows him a bit longer then we do, so she probably has figured a couple of things about him out that we haven’t yet. One thing is for sure and that is that she’s definitely playing her own game of “catching the man” and I would say she’s rather successful at it as well.” Frosya answered.

”How do you know all these things? How can you tell she’s successful at seducing him? And if you are right does that mean she’ll see me as a threat?” Eager for answers that might provide any help for her situation Aisly rapidly fired her questions at Frosya.

”Well most of the things can be easily deduced by carefully observing those two. For example, did you notice how he reached for her hand when we first met them? That tells me that he trusts her. Also her demonic energy is all over him. You’re smart enough to figure out what that means. Now before you start feeling worse than you already do; my husband was an off-worlder as well and that helped with recognizing many of the signs he's been giving off, and more importantly it helped in understanding that he has a different mindset than most of the men born here on the island. Now as for Tish seeing you as a threat: I would say that there is a fair chance that she is willing to share -- zombies are group orientated mamono after all -- if you manage to earn her trust.” Frosya patiently answered all the questions Aisly had for her.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

With the others gone, Kayley, Tish, and I were the only ones left in the room. ”I take it from Frosya's reaction and the fact that you even have a term for people like me that I'm not the first person who mysteriously ended up here?”

“It isn't really common, but occasionally someone from your world suddenly appears in this world. No one knows exactly how and why, but a far as I know, they all seem to come from your world. In fact a long time ago I shared a husband with Frosya, who was an off-worlder as well.” Kayley then got up walked to one of the shelves, grabbed a flask from it, and returned to the campfire. She winked at us and said, “We’ve got a lot to discuss, so I figured we better get the strong stuff. Want a sip?” and she offered me the flask. After everything that had happened I could use something strong, so I took a large sip and immediately regretted my greed: Kayley hadn’t lied when she had called it strong stuff. While I was still reeling from the deliciously tasting, but oh so strong drink, Kayley continued, “I have to be honest with you Erwin, it would be in the best interest of the whole tribe if you were to marry one of the girls. On the other hand I am sympathetic to your cause; you didn’t ask for any of this. I'm torn on how to proceed from here. Do I help Aisly win her fight and risk you either recklessly getting yourself killed, or you becoming an untrustworthy husband that might try to hurt her out of spite for what she has done? Or do I help you and risk denying one of the girls a very rare opportunity to get herself a husband?” Kayley was surprisingly honest and open to me. I was surprised that she had immediately recognized the only leverage I might have over Aisly in the fight. Guess that's why she's the chief. “At the least I can give you an honest summary on the world you've found yourself in, so you can make your own decisions based on a little more than just instinct.”

The rest of the evening Tish and I spend listening to Kayley, eating roasted meat, and significantly putting a dent in the Amazonesses’s mead supply. I learned that I was now in the North-Eastern corner of a large island that was at the same time pretty much the entire known world. The island was divided in several territories each governed by an immensely powerful lord; from what I understood a territory was somewhat similar to the concept of a country. The territory I was now in was Elizabeth’s territory, named rather creatively after its ruling lord.

The island and its surrounding waters were mainly populated by many species of what Kayley called monster girls or mamono. There was also a small minority of humans living on the island, but according to Kayley there were few if any settlements that are predominantly human. As their name already suggested all monster girl species consisted solely of females and they all needed human men to produce offspring, though, without a blessing from one of the lords the odds of conceiving a child were low. This all made that human men were highly sought after, and for common girls -- like Aisly -- hard to come by. Which further explained Aisly’s behavior; I started to feel sorry for her that I had so bluntly rejected her, but on the other hand I couldn’t blame myself for doing that either.

Kayley even took the time to describe the most common species of monster girls to me. To my surprise many of these species were rather similar to the mythological creatures from my world. Apparently this world had beings like Mermaids, Dragons, Lamias, Dryads, Succubae, and Elves. Upon hearing Kayley describing all these weird semi-human beings I was filled with a curiosity to meet these monster-girls. I mean who wouldn't want to see a real dragon? But at the same time I also felt a sort of primal fear of the unknown.

After having sketched the big picture Kayley moved the introduction to her tribe. It turned out that the tribe currently consisted of 23 Amazonesses. Five of them were enlisted in Lord Elizabeth’s army and now stationed in Faldarfar -- a large city somewhere to the east. One was assigned a position in the city watch of Westholm -- a young city with a university somewhere to the south. I also learned that Westholm was the nearest place with a significant population. Especially the university part spiked my interest and I figured that if there was a way back to earth, then my best bet would be to go visit Westholm and ask around there. If returning proved to be impossible, then hopefully the city might be a good starting point to find my purpose in this world. Perhaps I could even find a job there.

The tribe mainly spent their days hunting, honing their combat skills, and patrolling the northern forest edge, keeping it nice and quiet -- a task they were assigned by the local ruler of Westholm, a Dryad called Irene. From what I understood the area they had to keep an eye on was huge; this part of the land was only sparsely populated. It seemed that these girls didn’t mind being so isolated from the rest of the island. Kayley told us that they liked the freedom it provided. Most of their contact with the outside world came from an occasional visit by an Elven patrol from Westholm. The next one was expected to arrive in 8 days.

When it came to the tribe members Aisly was by far the youngest. According to Kayley she was “only” 21 years old, which made her 8 years younger than me. Kayley and Frosya on the other hand were over 500 years old, which to be honest was hard to believe especially when they only looked 30. Kayley told me that mamono usually grew very old and that they weren’t even considered that old according to mamono standards. The only living organisms that could grow that old on earth that I could think of were plants. The good news however was that this world even offered a few ways for humans to reach otherwise impossible ages.

Were it not for Aisly's challenge pressing heavily on my mood listening to Kayley would have been a rather pleasant evening. She was a skilled story teller and had a pleasant and soothing voice, though me being tipsy from the mead might have been an important factor in that as well. I can't remember exactly how the evening had ended but at some point I must have dozed off into a deep sleep.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

As soon as Kayley noted that Erwin had fallen asleep, she turned her attention towards Tish and said, “You two can stay the night in the longhouse, I'll get you some blankets and pillows, but first you and I need to have a short talk...”

Little heavy on the exposition but I'd gripe less if it was broken up a bit from that one blob of text.

Sort of getting curious what the chief is plotting but I guess we'll be seeing that soon. =)

Upon rereading it I must completely agree with that remark. I think I was a bit too eager to upload the next part. I gave that part some love and hopefully improved it significantly.

Chapter 8 – Pertinax

The next morning I woke up with Tish cuddled up to me. As always she was already awake. I was a bit at a loss, for I had no idea what to do. So I just laid there for a little while longer and let Tish snuggle up even closer. I thought about how weird a turn my life had taken. One moment I had been too busy to even think about a girlfriend and now I was here in a weird relationship with Tish, another girl was willing to fight for a chance at becoming my wife, and to top it off one was undead and the other has a tail.

After while I figured I had to do something, so I gave Tish a peck on the cheek and got up. Not sure whether it would not be a good idea to leave without an escort, I settled for a short round through the longhouse. I stopped in front of a rack filled with all kind of swords and other medieval weapon. I probably couldn’t even properly identify half of them, but they sure looked deadly enough.

“You know how to use a sword?” Kayley suddenly asked. I had not heard her enter the room and her question nearly made me jump out of my skin.

”Never even touched a sword before...” I answered without thinking. I suddenly remembered a quote from Game of Thrones, ”Stick them with the pointy end is the gist of it, right?”

Clearly not impressed she replied, ”That’s the theory yes, but that’s not going to cut it, no pun intended. How about something more basic like a spear?”

”Stick them with the pointy end?”, I tried again, for it was still the best answer I could come up with.

Kayley let out a deep sigh, ”At least your understanding on how to use either sword or spear surpasses that of the average Goblin… Well enough about that. I brought you two breakfast. Come sit down we got more to discuss.”

We sat down and Kayley gave us a chunk of bread, some cheese and meat, and a large mug of milk. She then fished a small vial filled with some kind of pink liquid out of her bra (or was it a top?) and dropped two droplets of the liquid in my mug. After seeing the look on my face she got a smirk on hers as she answered, ”Mermaid’s blood, or more specifically Merrow’s blood. From now on you’ll be taking two drops a day, and with some luck you might even live to celebrate your 200th birthday. Now what do you think about that?”

I was a bit skeptical about 200 year old humans, nor was I too sure about the ethics of drinking Mermaid’s blood, but Tish underpinned Kayley’s remark by pointing at the mug and saying, “Erwin, drink!”

Well so much for having anything to say in the matter. ”With you two ganging up on me like that, it seems I don't have anything to say for that matter... Thanks I guess.” I complained. Somewhat hesitant I took a sip, and to my relief I only tasted fatty milk.

My childish complaining caused both Tish and Kayley to burst out in a hearty laughter. ”That’s because we know best what is good for you, one day you’ll understand.” Kayley replied cheerfully, and she winked at me. I had absolutely no clue as what to think of that, so I just kept my mouth shut and focused on the food.

As I was busy chewing down my food, Kayley took a deep breath and started, ”My husband tried to find a way back as well. Of course we hoped he would decide to stay, even if he were to succeed, but we did not want to force him. We visited dozens of scholars and consulted every library here in Elizabeth’s territory, though, back then it was Dorothy’s territory. We even spend two months under water visiting the libraries in Michiko’s territory. Wherever we went, we only found stories of off-worlders arriving here and not a single account of one leaving. We even tried to arrange a meeting with lord Dorothy, but she refused to grant us an audience.” It was clearly something she was still pissed about, as she grumbled something about Dorothy being a cunt and being happy she is gone, before continuing, ”Long story short, we ran out of places to look for information. Thankfully he could accept his fate and learned to enjoy his new life here with us...“ Kayley slowly trailed off and stared into the distance. Judging by the nostalgic smile on her face, she was lost in happy memories. We didn't want to spoil her happy moment, so Tish and I ate our breakfast in silence.

When we finished our breakfast, Kayley snapped out of her trance. ”I won't say I know for sure that you are stuck here, but don’t get your hopes up. Your best bet is to ask Lord Elizabeth herself. And for that, going to Westholm is a good start; Irene, the ruler of Westholm, is Elizabeth's most trusted diplomat. She’ll be able to arrange an appointment for you. She travels a lot, though, so it might take a while before she can see you. In the meantime you could attend a couple of lectures at the university and learn a bit about this world. Most lectures are open to everyone.”

Useful information for sure, but I had no idea why she was telling me this in the first place. Weren’t these girls going to keep me here after I lost the duel with Aisly? ”Don’t get me wrong I appreciate all the help I can get, but why are you telling me this?” I asked cautiously.

A smirk found its way to her face when she countered, ”Tss, tss, tss, what makes you think you'll be stuck here forever should Aisly claim you?” That was an eerily dead on observation of the motive behind my question. Could she fucking read minds? ”Should she win, then Aisly will be responsible for your happiness and safety.” I noticed that she put a suspicious amount of emphasis on the safety part. ”Besides, she is only 21 years old, and got nearly as much to learn about this world as you. It would do her good to get out and experience what this world has to offer for herself.”

Well this was getting confusing, I was not going to be kept as a slave, even if I were to lose? And what’s with everyone being so concerned about my safety, while obviously the biggest threat to me is that duel that is looming over me. ”I don't get it, everyone here seems really concerned with my safety, but if Mamono girls are so dangerous, then where does that leave you? I get “claimed” against my will, by someone I barely know, under the threat of violence! So what makes Aisly better than those Succubi and Lolies, whatever the fuck they might be?”

”To answer your last question first, Lolies are simply normal Mamono, but they look like children. They are by no means better or worse than any other Mamono. Aisly had a bad experience with one once, but she forgets to mention that it was another Loli who got her out of that mess. And as for Aisly? I guess you could say that she is not better nor worse than most other girls; she’s got her strengths and weaknesses. Most girls are caring and decent. Sure they will flirt with you, they will fawn at you, or try to convince you in any other creative way to spend a night, or better a lifetime, with them, but they won't resort to rape or violence to get what they want. But as with everything, there are always exceptions. That's why your best bet at staying a free man, is to give up some of that freedom and marry a couple of good girls who can keep you safe. Obviously I don't like the method Aisly chose to try and prove to you she's such a girl, and I know she regrets her rash behavior as well. The girl's been begging me all night to cancel the duel.”

I had to give it to them that nobody had harmed me so far. So they couldn't be the worst right? But the duel still remained a mystery to me. Apparently neither of us wants is, so why not cancel it? Since she had been frank with us so far, I decided to ask her that directly, ”If neither of us wants this duel, then why not cancel it?”

Kayley got a bitter look on her face as she answered, ”I wish it was that simple. But, Aisly's challenge invoked an ancient Amazonessian tradition, that I can't simply shove aside. Besides if you can't even beat Aisly, who is trained as a scout rather than a fighter, then you surely won't be able to defend yourself, should you meet the wrong Mamono...”

Fuck why did it have to be so complicated? Apparently the duel was coming, and there is no way to avoid it. I had no doubts as to how the duel was going to end. The more I thought about it the more my “brave thoughts” from yesterday appeared foolish. “I rather die on my feet than live on my knees”? Bullshit. With the prospect of becoming a slave gone, that living on my knees option suddenly didn’t appear that horrible anymore. Perhaps I should just surrender and hope that Kayley wasn't lying…

I had been so engrossed by my inner conflicts that I had barely noticed that Kayley had continued talking, ”... I had a short talk with Tish yesterday and we both agree that you shouldn't be fighting anyone. ”

That sure seemed to contradict with what she had just said. ”You just said that you can’t cancel the duel, and now you’re saying I shouldn’t be fighting?”

”Indeed, Tish offered yesterday to fight for you. Now that is a match where actually some honor is to be gained. Though she didn’t ask anything in return, I feel Tish should be properly rewarded should she win the duel for you… She wins, you marry her instead. Practically that shouldn’t change much for you.”

Before I even had the chance to think about that Tish grabbed me, looked at me with large begging eyes, and said, “Please, Erwin.”

To which Kayley added, ”You're a human with no fighting experience. There is strength in acknowledging you are weak. Except perhaps for Aedelind, nobody here gives a crap about whether you can fight. Men don’t belong on the battlefield or in the arena’s anyway, they’re way more useful for other activities.” The devious grin she threw me when she said that last sentence was rather unsettling. Because of her rather jovial demeanor after the others had left yesterday, I had almost forgotten that she was the chief of a tribe of girls that feel comfortable wielding big ass swords while wearing only a few strips of leather. Also she was nearly a head taller than me, and her arms were nearly as thick as my legs. She was not someone to be trifled with. Something I’d better remember.

On the other hand what did I have to lose, and there was still an important unanswered question. ”Suppose I agree, then what's in it for you? What do you have to gain from swapping me for Tish?”

Her grin was quickly replaced by a smile again as she answered, ”Fair enough question. Letting Tish fight, will for sure greatly decreases Aisly's chances. But if you are the one facing her, there is a chance you get yourself stupidly killed, and you are of much more use alive than dead. Also I doubt Aisly will ever recover, should that happen. She will be disciplined for her stupidity, but completely breaking her is out of proportion. Besides, Tish and I already struck an agreement which ensures we aren't left entirely empty handed should she win, and she won't be left empty handed should Aisly win.”

Apparently those two had already planned everything out. Was my agreement only a formality? I had always been rather stubborn, or at least I used to be. But it was obvious they were not going to let me fight, no matter what. With Tish on their side I figured they would keep postponing the duel till they manage to convince me to let Tish take my place. Objecting would only postpone the inevitable. And well if there was no way to change it, then it was better to just get it over with. And besides how bad could being married to either Tish or Aisly be? I was already in some sort of relation with Tish, and Aisly was willing to risk everything for me, that should count for something right?

”Fine, with you two ganging up on me again, it's not like I'll be fighting the duel myself even if I were to say no. No use in dragging this on then.”

I didn't get the chance to further complain, because my voice was smothered as Tish locked lips with me and kissed me. From the corner of my eyes I could see Kayley getting up with a triumphant smile on her face.

”I am glad you saw your situation with such clarity. I told you we know best what is good for you.” She winked at me again and walked to the door of the longhouse. ”Now you two go have some fun, while I'll inform Aisly the duel will start at noon. Also I'll get the arrangements made for your marriage to Tish.” With that she turned around and left.

Wait what!? Today!? Marriage with Tish!? What is going on here!? I didn't get much chance to think about that though, because Tish had finished unbuttoning my pants.

To my shock, I discovered that January was the last time I updated my story.

It is almost the same amount of time it took me to update mine :-)

Beats me. I thought whole conflict was about tribe's attempt to keep the Tish off the loop. Whole duel is largely pointless if protagonist can be married to Tish straight away.

Well lets just say that probably the only two who know exactly what is going on are Tish and Kayley ;-)

tygertyger:
Heh. Plots and plans, and plans within plans. No wonder Kayley is the chief.

echoes_guy:
What a clever zombie Tish is... She'll make a fine Wight one day. I'm curious to see how she handles herself in this... Sort-of duel.

Clarus_Nox:
great chapter and story so far, looking forward to more

emeraldtryst:
Couldn't quite tell if she was saying that marriage was supposed to happen before the duel or after...but the secret planning has me convinced that it doesn't matter.

Of course...then I have to wonder how Tish talked the chief into making a deal in the first place...either the chief is fluent in zombie, or Tish is being a lot more quiet than she needs to be...or, I suppose, she's reaping some serious benefits from her improved diet.

Chapter 9 – Clever Girl

Another time, another place

“Drana! Where is everyone!? The whole village is empty! The mansion is deserted as well!”

I knew that Xaviera had been too busy with her experiments to leave the lab these last few days. I had used the opportunity to contact an old friend of mine to help relocate the entire village. Nahoko was a well-connected Otohime who lived in a spacious Ryugujo far of the coast. She was the only person I knew, other than Xaviera, who both possessed the authority and the means to house and protect the nearly five hundred villagers that lived under our protection. If Xaviera was right, then this would just be three weeks of vacation on our tab for everyone. And if I was right... well Nahoko had given me her word that she will personally take over our oath of protection should anything happen to us. Nahoko wasn’t someone who gave her word lightly, but she was also one of the few people I knew whose word was her bond. Which was why I had asked her. Her loyalty and integrity had gotten her to the position of governor over the bay between Yara’s and Kaori’s realms. That position guaranteed that any attempt to harm those under our protection would face the same consequences as if they had attacked Michiko herself. For this huge favor Nahoko had demanded nothing in return, although with over half of our villagers being human that came as no surprise.

“They’re gone, and I alone am responsible for that.” I answered. There was no reason to lie. I had made my peace and I knelt in surrender before my lover.

She could have easily erased my existence for backstabbing her like that. But rather than getting angry, she surprised me as she just sank to the ground and asked with teary eyes, “You really believe I failed my vows so bad that you felt you had to act behind my back?”

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

After the quality time with Tish, I laid on my back wondering about what Kayley had said. My train of thoughts was brought to a halt when Tish handed me my notebook, pencil, and the measuring tape. With everything that had happened in the last day I had completely forgotten about my ongoing little science experiment, but apparently Tish had not. After she had handed me my things she turned around and lifted her hair for me. I still couldn’t tell whether she did this it because she wanted to tell me something, or because she simply liked the attention. I did the familiar measurements and inspected her wounds. After comparing the results to my notes, I found that most of her wounds had now either closed or had shrunk significantly and her bosom had again grown fuller. If things would continue like this I figured all the wounds would be gone within a week. I wondered if then other things would start to change or if this strange “healing” process would stop.

There was a loud knock on the door and Kayley walked in a few seconds after. ”The duel starts in a few hours, you’re expected for the final preparations. Erwin I’ll send someone to escort you.”

Tish got up, put on her dress, gave me one last kiss, and then left with Kayley. Now alone in the longhouse I had nothing better to do other than putting my thoughts on paper. It felt as if only a few minutes had passed when there was another knock on the door. Immediately after a familiar Amazoness entered the longhouse.

”Already dressed, that’s a shame. I had hoped that our proper introduction would be a little more… adventurous.” the Amazoness with the long segmented ponytail – the one who had suggested a threesome yesterday – said.

She was quick, I had to give her that. Before I could answer, or even put away my pencil, she had already closed the gap and sat down right next to me. Any chance for me to back away was cut off by her tail that had immediately coiled around my waist as if it were a belt. Then with a simple flick of her tail she effortlessly lifted me up and put me on her lap.

”What the heck?! How fucking strong are you?” Guess being scared or offended would have been a more appropriate response to this sudden violation of my personal space, but I was too amazed by what just had happened to bother about that.

She played it off, as if lifting me was a mere trivial feat not worthy of any praise. ”It wasn’t that impressive… Besides you’re not that heavy. You should see me when I’m lifting tree logs.”

”Not that heavy? I’m well over a hundred kilos. I would have to train for months and still wouldn’t be able to move something that heavy so effortlessly. You make it look like I don’t weight anything at all! I wouldn’t call that not impressive. That’s amazing!”

”Alright. Alright. Perhaps I was showing off a little,” she admitted.

”Well you most certainly impressed me. But why would you be showing off in the first place? It’s not like I’m getting married off in a couple of hours…”

”Don’t tell me about it. Kayley specifically instructed us all not to force you!” She said in such a way that it seemed most unreasonable what Kayley had instructed. Then suddenly I felt her breasts press against my back as she put her arms around me. She leaned in and whispered in my ear, ”She didn’t say anything about seducing you into agreeing, though. So what do you say about…”

I cut her off, ”Admitted, I’m not exactly thrilled about this whole marriage thing, but I don’t think either of them deserves to be cheated on!”

She let out a disappointed sigh, before she continued. ”I guess they don’t. But I didn’t hear an explicit no from you either. So a threesome then? Of course with your wife’s permission; it would be rude to deny her some good fun on her own wedding night. Or do you need some more… convincing.” As she said it I suddenly felt her placing a peck in my neck.

This girl sure was bound on getting herself that threesome. It was not that I wasn’t physically attracted to her – all the women I has seen here were quite the lookers – but usually such arrangements would lead to trouble. I didn’t feel like getting myself even more tangled up here than I already was. Nor did I want to raise expectations I couldn’t live up to. Yet it was hard to say no to a woman who basically got me in a full nelson. ”I suppose if no further strings were attached, I probably might perhaps refrain from objecting…” I tried.

She let out a chuckle and whispered seductively while at the same time giving me a peck on the cheek, ”You’re so cute! No strings attached, fair enough. I already look forward to tonight...”

”Tonight?! How do you know so sure Aisly’s going to win?”

She chuckled again and gave several more pecks to my cheek and neck. There wasn’t much I could do about that, but I can’t say it was an unpleasant sensation. ”I don’t. That’s why I asked them both! The name’s Esme by the way.” She answered with a most devious smirk on her face.

Checkmate. Clever girl! I couldn’t help but laugh. Tricked into a threesome, now that was something you didn’t see every day. ”I walked straight into your trap didn’t I? Well under the no strings attached condition and apparently a wife who’s totally cool with it, I’m not going to be a bad sport and back out of it. Who am I to reject a threesome anyway? I’m Erwin. Nice to meet you too.”

She gave me one final peck, this time on the lips. Then she put me back on the ground and released me from her grip. ”Don’t worry Erwin, I’ll make it worth your while. Now I believe I still owe you a tour around the village.”

”Yeah, I guess you do.”

The tour through the village was a short one, because the village was literally just ten log cabins and a longhouse. Esme showed me the inside of the cabin that was her home. She shared it with Aisly, which might explain why those two were so quick to settle on a threesome yesterday. The log cabin was rather spacious, and would definitely qualify as cozy if one didn’t mind the numerous animal rugs. There was only one bed, though it was large enough for at least five people to sleep in comfortably. I figured that this would become my home should Aisly win the duel. I wondered whether they would live up to their word and let Tish stay with us as well.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I looked over the dueling area as I was seated next to Kayley. It felt really weird that in less than a minute two women would fight over the right to claim me as their husband. By the looks of it, it wouldn’t be some friendly play fighting either. Aisly was holding a spear and what looked like a round Viking shield. She wore what appeared to be leather armor and an iron or steel helmet. The armor was a huge contrast to what she had been wearing earlier; it was functional, rather than revealing. I remembered Aisly was blessed with the largest pair of the tribe, but the armor only showed a minor bulge at the chest. She didn’t look too comfortable, though, which I interpreted as her not wearing armor often.

Tish on the other hand didn’t wear any armor, nor seemed to wield any weapon. She wore a short plain black skirt and a plain black bandeau. I noticed that she wasn’t wearing any shoes either. There was no doubt in my mind that her garb allowed for excellent freedom of movement, but the clothes she did wear would not protect her in any way should she get hit by Aisly’s spear. That got me worried. I turned to Kayley and asked, ”You going to let her fight the duel practically naked and without a weapon?!”

Kayley shrugged, ”She refused everything we offered and if it is by her own choice then I see no reason to not let her fight.”

With that she stood up and addressed the two duelists. ”The rules for the duel are as follows. First rule, stay in the dueling area! Should any of you leave the dueling area for whatever reason, then I or my lieutenants will throw you back in. Keep in mind I haven’t instructed them to do so gently. Second rule, the duel only ends when one of you is fully incapacitated. No chickening out by forfeiting! Third rule, everything that isn’t explicitly covered by the first and second rule is allowed. Though using lethal force is allowed, we all would strongly prefer to see a non-lethal ending to this duel!” After that Kayley gave the signal for the duel to begin and she, as well as the other elders, all took position at the edges of the dueling area.

I felt my heart starting to race as Aisly immediately went on the offensive throwing a series of quick jabs at Tish, while using her shield defensively to cut off any possible retaliation. Tish was surprisingly slow given how little armor she was wearing. I gasped when one of Aisly’s jabs cut clean through Tish’s bandeau and glanced of her ribs. As Aisly withdrew her spear one of the barbs at the side of the spearhead got caught in the bandeau tearing it apart and leaving Tish topless. The jab had left a deep cut in her right breast and side. It was evident that the barb had not only torn through the bandeau, but through her soft flesh as well. Given how deep those gashes must be it was all the more surprising that her wounds barely bled, nor did Tish seem to care even the slightest for those injuries.

The next few jabs were only barely dodged by Tish. Then after another one that just missed her by mere millimeters, Tish stepped forward before Aisly could withdraw her spear. Aisly still had her shield, though. She used it to deliver a powerful bash in Tish her chest, knocking her back.

I heard Aisly apologize with a broken voice that betrayed she was crying when another jab left another deep cut in Tish’s unprotected side. It seemed Tish was not able to defend herself adequately and was slowly going to be cut to pieces by Aisly. It was horrifying to watch, but there was nothing I could do. I quickly glanced to the sides to see that the other Amazonesses were just as horrified as I was. There were no cheers, no shouts, no screams; everyone was dead silent.

Then suddenly Tish stepped back with a nimbleness nobody had expected of her anymore. Aisly too was taken by surprise as her next few attacks hit nothing but air. Tish looked Aisly in the eyes and spoke up, “Sorry!”

What happened after went so fast that I could barely follow it. Tish suddenly grew some kind of massive white ghost claws and charged at Aisly with such great speed that she could not even lift her spear in time to defend herself. With a single strike Tish cut through Aisly’s shield, armor, and body. The claw had passed through her completely and Aisly immediately collapsed. Tish stood there for a second. I noticed that the ghost claw that had cut through Aisly was now jet-black. Then the claws disappeared and Tish too collapsed.

I didn’t even wait for Kayley’s signal that the duel had ended as I Immediately jumped up and rushed towards the two. Esme had already proven that these women were a lot faster than me, but I was still the first to reach Tish and Aisly. Even though Tish had taken a beating and didn’t look so well, Aisly seemed to be in an even worse shape. Surprisingly Aisly’s armor and shield were still intact. How that was even possible after Tish had torn clean through them I did not know. Aisly was completely unresponsive, though. Half in a panic I tried to remove her helmet when someone firmly grabbed me by the wrists.

I looked up to see Kayley smiling down at me. ”Don’t worry she’s just knocked out and drained of energy. Nothing she will not recover from within a few days. Tish will be alright too; Zombies can take a hit. She probably needs some spirit energy injections to help close those nasty gashes up, but that is a problem for later. Now I believe you owe somebody a wedding!” I was still too much in a panic to fully register everything she said.

”What’s spirit energy?! And how do we get it?!”

”No need to worry about that for now. The best way for you to help Tish is simply getting ready for the wedding. Esme will help you with the preparations. We’ll do the same for Tish. Cheer up! Tonight you are going to get married Amazoness style!”

I quickly looked over at Tish who was already sitting up again, but still looked rather dizzy. Apparently she could not decide whether she should be looking at Aisly or at me. Frosya helped her up on her feet and then led her towards the longhouse. Meanwhile Aisly, who was still unconscious, was being carried away by the other two elders. I wanted to object, but for the second time that day a familiar tail lifted me off the ground and this time carried me off into the woods.

Bah!

The only new thing i got from the chapter was a smidgen of Xaviera and Drana and a confirmation of a upcoming threesome. Everything else is old news.

I gave the feedback in pm already. But seriously, I forgot you hadn't posted this yet metal.

I want the next part now, this chapter was too short to be a 2 parter.

MetallumOperatur:

Well nox I warned ya that proofreading would pretty much spoil most of the chapter for you :-P

But it is great to see that your eager to read more.

As for the chapter length, this chapter part is roughly 3.3k words which makes it one of the longer walls of text I've posted so far. I try to limit the chunks to roughly 2-3k words to keep it manageable. Seeing that I'm already at 1k words for the next part and still quite a lot has to be added, this chapter would have easily become a 6-7k word wall.

Chapter 10 – A strange world indeed

”You want us to do what!?” I turned towards Tish. ”And you agreed to this!? Are you nuts?!”

I still couldn’t get my head around what just had happened. After the duel Esme had carried me to a nearby creek. I had tried to convince her to let me walk by myself, but apparently that was “no fun”. She then had cut my hair and trimmed my beard. I was surprised that she had then backed off and allowed me some privacy to wash myself after the grooming session. When we got back to the village she had brought me straight to the longhouse where Tish and Kayley had been waiting for us with an utmost strange request. Apparently, an Amazonian wedding included a public consummation of said wedding.

Tish responded to my outburst with shrug and a moan that I could only interpret as a “perhaps”. Despite that answer I highly doubted that fucking me in front of the whole village was her idea, though. So, I figured that if I wanted some answers I had to be addressing Kayley. ”I don’t know what kind of agreement you and Tish have made, but consider everything that involves me void. You want to make deals that involve me, you negotiate so with me!” I lashed out at her.

Kayley chuckled. Without showing even the slightest annoyance by my refusal to play along with whatever games she was playing, she cut straight to business. ”Very well, I’ll “negotiate” with you then… Let me enlighten you on an ancient Amazonessian tradition. We claim our husbands by riding him Amazoness style in front of our tribe sisters. It is something every Amazoness strives for from the day she’s old enough to understand the concepts of having a husband. This not only emphasizes her claim and allows her to boast her talents, but she also serves as a role model inspiring the other Amazonesses to better themselves, so that they too will one day claim their own husband. It has been way too long since our tribe had such a ceremony. My girls could use a reminder. That is why the first thing I ask is that you and Tish honor this tradition.” she stated calmly. All the time she was observing me closely; undoubtedly gauging my reaction.

”If that is so, then why us? Tish is not an Amazoness. As far as I know, you didn’t even know her before yesterday. How would her riding me Amazoness style serve as anything other than rubbing in the fact that Aisly, and by extend the tribe, lost the duel?” I asked skeptically.

Kayley’s lips curled up in a slight grin as she replied, ”Oh, what makes you think the tribe has lost? I would say that with Tish being an honorary tribe member, the tribe has gained both a respected new member as well as a husband today.”

What!? Tish an honorary tribe member? What the fuck is going on here?

Seeing the surprised look on my face Kayley’s grin broadened as she continued, ”Tish and I agreed it is in our mutual interest that she becomes an honorary tribe member. With her being part of our tribe now, there is no reason for her not to get married in Amazonessian fashion.”

II didn’t know whether I should be amazed or frightened by the lengths these women were willing to go just to see me and Tish getting it on. What strange world had I found myself in? Thrown off balance and not sure how to proceed I opted to change the subject, for now. ”Tell me, why should I agree to let Tish “ride me Amazoness style” when I don’t even know what that is. What is so special about it that you have to keep mentioning it?”

Just when I though her grin couldn’t widen further, she proved me wrong. ”It is special because it is an ancient tradition. As for what it is… I think you should learn from experience. No need to worry, though, it won’t hurt; heck I even bet my sword that you’ll like it! Now for my second request... I would do my girls a great disservice if I did not ask you to lay with at least the ones who have not yet had the opportunity to claim a husband for themselves.”

The high word was out. The jack came out of the box. The rarity of men had already been explained to me, but the practical implications of that fact hadn’t sunk in yet. ”You seriously want me to fuck, like, half the village?!” I asked in disbelieve.

”Not to dishearten you, but I’m asking you to fuck even more than half of the village. Only the elders have had the honor to ride a man Amazoness style. Even with Aisly’s… state of incapacitation, that still leaves twelve girls. They probably won’t be getting another chance to lay with a man for years or even decades.” Somehow I got the feeling that her concerns for her girls were genuine. Even if I was a rare opportunity for these girls, it didn’t change the fact that she was asking a lot from us, especially from Tish.

”Even if I were to ignore the morality of fucking a dozen other girls on Tish’s wedding night, there is still the problem that I can’t “perform” that often. I don’t know what you’re expecting of me, but I’m not a miracle worker.” I stated.

She suddenly got a devious twinkle in her eyes as she replied with a sugary sweet voice, ”Oh, do not let such trivialities get between you and a dozen pretty and willing girls. Tish won’t mind; she’ll even be joining in on the fun! As for your fear of not being able to perform…”—she threw me a small vial—”Alraune Nectar, it tastes great and you’ll be “performing” a new record tonight.” I sighed. I should have known that she had an answer for everything.

I looked at the vial, ”Yeah, about that… I haven’t agreed to anything yet. I would like an hour alone with Tish, so I can discuss your requests with her in private.” I made sure to put extra emphasis on the last word.

”A wise choice! It is always good to discuss important things with your wife before making a decision.” The emphasis she put on the word discuss and the blatant wink she gave Tish made me cringe.

A nice chapter. It seems a bit devoid of conflict, as it worked out truly in the Monster Girl Encyclopedia style with a fight being ultimately meaningless down the line, but a nice work on the chapter nevertheless. There isn't a reason to be particularly worried about the length, I envy your dedication to write as still, you did much better than me in this department.

Chapter 11 – Trooper

Till now I had thought that Tish roughly grasped my intentions, that she mainly reacted to my body language and tone of voice. Since she clearly had been able to communicate with Kayley on a higher level than simple emotions, I had to reconsider my assumption. I started to wonder to what extend Tish understood what I was saying to her.

For once she wasn’t immediately hanging around my neck and I was grateful for that. I had many questions for her and given the situation I preferred to focus on those first. Before we could discuss the wedding and Kayley’s requests, however, there was something else I needed to ask her, however painful it might be. I put my hands on her shoulders and looked her straight in the eyes as I asked, ”What the hell did you do to Aisly? And what the hell happened to you immediately after? Are you really alright?”

The questions came out a lot faster than I had intended and I could see her face darken in response. She looked sad and wrought with guilt. Whatever she had done, it was clear that she hated it. Given the difficulties she had to speak I had little hope she would actually be able to answer the questions, but the fact that she felt bad about it was good enough for me.

Suddenly I was overwhelmed with emotions. I pulled her in an embrace and buried my face in her long soft hair. ”You scared me Tish. For a second I thought the both of you were dead.” Tish gently embraced me with a tender hug that was clearly intended to comfort me, rather than using one of her usual bear hugs.

”I don’t want to lose you Tish. Even though I barely know you, you’re all I’ve got in this world.” I wasn’t one to easily break mentally, but the whole situation had been putting a lot of strain on me. I closed my eyes and tried to steady myself by taking deep regular breaths. Hugging Tish had a soothing effect; it was almost as if touching her slowly drained all my negative energy and emotions. I did not resist it and just kept hugging her to let it all flow out of me.

”Thanks. I needed that.” I said when I had finally calmed down enough to break the hug. I gave her a peck on the cheek to show my appreciation. It was obvious that she was blushing, even though her pallid complexion hid the colors.

I tried to turn my focus back to the tasks ahead. Awkward as it might be, I had to talk with Tish about the wedding as well as Kayley’s requests. Especially after what had just happened I felt like a dick for what I was about to bring up, but not being honest with Tish would probably be even worse.

”Kayley requested we consummate our marriage in front of the whole village…” I paused a moment and thought about how best to continue. ”Let’s just say, that is not how things work where I come from. To us marriage is not something one decides on a whim after only knowing someone for just a few days, nor is it a public display of fornication. To us marriage is the bond between two people who know and deeply love each other for a long time. Marriages are as much about acknowledging the other’s flaws and accepting them, as they are about the things you like in the other. Don’t get me wrong, I like you and I wouldn’t want to lose you. But, I’m not sure whether I can live up to the bond a marriage stands for. I hope you understand that these changes all go a bit too fast for my liking… Don’t worry I’m not going to ditch you, but please forgive me if I need some time to adapt. For now, I will promise you this: I will fully commit to keep exploring all aspects of our relationship…” I couldn’t change the conflicted way I felt, but at least I should be honest with Tish about my reservations. Her response was a clear nod and a calm moan. It seemed that though a bit sad – and how could I ever blame her for that – she understood and accepted my hesitations.

It was a big relief that she took it so well. It helped me a lot to be able to address the other elephant in the room. Kayley’s second request tore me apart. On the one hand, I was literally offered an evening filled with freebies. But on the other hand, I did feel I owed Tish loyalty. So, I compromised that at the very least she should get a say in it… Preferably without her being pressured by the Amazonesses.

”About Kayley’s requests… I can’t deny that I feel like a kid that is offered an all you can eat coupon for the candy store… But you will be the one that has to share her husband with over a dozen other women on her wedding night. That is why, if we go along with it, I want you to be one making that choice. I’m not going to lie to you, part of me wants nothing more than to try out if this...” – I stared at the vial as I let it roll through my hands – ”…indeed works as claimed. But I don’t want to hurt you over my own carnal desires. I say we either refuse both requests and we leave this place, or we go all in and make sure these horny Amazonesses will still be talking about tonight when they’re old hags!” The grin that appeared on Tish’s face as I said that told me all I needed to know. Guess tonight I’m a very lucky guy. I couldn’t help but be amazed, though, by what a trooper Tish turned out to be.

”I guess there is more we should be discussing… but fuck that. You deserve some foreplay.” I had barely finished the sentence when Tish pounced me.

Well the only reason there was a fight at all was because Aisly was a bit over enthusiastic and then couldn't back out of it anymore.

I was thinking more like the little facial expressions one makes when blushing. For now she's too pale to have any color on her cheeks.

There's a certain facial expression? And blushing is just an increase of blood to the face, so that would imply that her heart is beating. But I don't actually know a lot about zombies, so...

Chapter 12 – Two steps forward one step back…

Tish had been wearing her long robe again, so it was only after she removed it that I noticed something was terribly wrong. The reason she had been undressing was immediately forgotten as I stared in horror at Tish. Though I didn’t fully understand why she seemed to be barely affected by them, I had expected the slashes to her chest and breast. That she was covered in other wounds, however, I had not expected. Those definitely were not inflicted by Aisly during the duel and I had no idea what had caused those wounds.

After the initial shock had passed, I took a closer look at Tish. I noticed that they looked eerily similar to the wounds she had on her when we had just met, but those had been disappearing slowly over these last days. The dozens of new wounds were scattered across her torso, upper arms, and legs. I didn’t need to count them to know there were many more than I had seen her naked for the first time. Her left breast looked noticeably smaller than it had been this morning, and the duel had left her right breast practically trisected. For some inexplicable reason her face, hands, breasts, and nether region had been not been affected by this mysterious outbreak of wounds. And her strange but enticing lady scaping pattern was, surprisingly, still in perfect shape as well.

”Damn Tish… Those wounds… They didn’t come from the duel!” I looked over her shoulder only to find that her back and butt were covered in these strange wounds as well. What had fucked her up so badly?

”How did this happen? They were retreating, but now it is even worse than when we first met!” She only responded with a sad moan. Sadly, this time it was not easy to decipher what she meant by that. If only she could talk.

TALK!

I suddenly realized that I hadn’t heard her talk since the duel. Our first days together she hadn’t been able to speak either, but yesterday and this morning she had managed to utter some words, albeit with a cracked voice and it being visibly straining for her to do so. This seemed awfully coincidental… Could it be that something had undone the healing process she was going through? That something had shoved her back to an even worse state than before we first met?

”Something reversed the healing process didn’t it? Dammit! We’re going to need some more time to figure this out… I’ll be right back.” A slight nod showed she had understood my intentions and she climbed off me. I hadn’t removed any clothing myself yet, so I simply got up and left the longhouse.

I saw several Amazonesses hauling stuff over to the central clearing. I figured they were preparing our wedding. I also stumbled upon two healthily blushing Amazonesses who apparently were studying the weeds growing around the longhouse. Too bad I had more pressing matters to focus on, else I would have loved to learn a bit about the local flora. I addressed the closest one, ”Please tell the chief there is a… complication. We’re going to need an extra hour.” Without waiting for her reply I turned around and reentered the long house.

I grabbed my measuring tape as well as my note book and moved back over to Tish who was patiently waiting for me wearing nothing but a loving smile. For the second time that day I did the familiar measurements. I inspected her closely. Though the slashes to her breast made measuring her complicated, in the end I was confident that my suspicions about her breasts having shrunk in size were correct. This morning I had written down some notes about one of the few wounds she had still left. I looked for that wound, comparing it to my notes and my memory. I was certain that it had grown both significantly larger and deeper since this morning. In fact everything I found pointed to my initial hunch that for some reason her “healing” process had reverted. Though this was a huge setback, I guess it could have been worse; at least I knew how to “treat” the problem.

Now that I had been over her with my fine-toothed comb, I found that my attention kept being drawn to her maimed breast. As horrendous and gruesome as it was, at the same time it fascinated me. The slash left by Aisly’s spear had split her nipple in two and had cut clean through the soft tissue of her breast till it had struck the ribs underneath. The spearhead barb then had been caught in that same soft tissue and had viciously torn though it, leaving a horrible looking tear. Though the wounds were deep enough that I could clearly see the bone of her ribs, she had barely bled; leaving the cuts exceptionally clean. Looking at it felt rather unreal, almost as if I was simply gazing at a black and white cross section in an anatomy book. I expected Tish to be taken aback by my admittedly morbid fascination, but she didn’t show any sign of annoyance and waited patiently as I examined her mutilated breast up close.

”Damn that looks nasty. Please tell me there is something we can do about this.” I said, when I had finally sated my curiosity. As I heard myself say it, I was struck by a sudden epiphany. Could it be…?

”Ehm… Tish, do these by any chance heal in the same way as we… ehm… “healed” those other wounds?” I asked sheepishly. Tish’s face immediately brightened up as if she finally remembered a word that had been stuck on the tip of her tongue for a long time. I guess that was a yes.

Chapter 13 – Eye for an Eye

Just as we had finished the second “healing session” of that afternoon, there was a loud knock on the door telling us that Kayley was back. Her timing was too perfect to be a coincidence and I wondered how long she had been waiting outside. Tish and I got quickly dressed, then I yelled to let Kayley know she could come in.

For the second time that day Kayley didn’t waste time by beating around the bush and she immediately got to the point. ”I assume you had your private “discussion” with Tish. So tell me, what have you decided?”

Although we had decided that we would honor her requests, there were still a few things that didn’t sit well with me. I was not going to agree to anything before those have been addressed.

”To be honest I’m a bit conflicted. It is obvious Aisly has feelings for me... Call me crazy, but I can’t help but feel that I’m being an asshole if I were to agree and she’s the only one left out.” For a split second I thought I saw Kayley raise her eyebrow, but when I looked again she wore the same expression as before. Perhaps I had just imagined it.

”Her overeager behavior has wronged not only you, but also the tribe. For that she must be disciplined. Even if she wasn’t out right now, I still would not have allowed her to join. I know she had the best intentions, but that doesn’t mean I can let her transgression go unpunished.” Kayley paused for a second before she continued. ”I know that won’t take away the emotional part of your hesitation, but you need not worry about Aisly. She’s got a lot of things going for her. Sure, she is not the best fighter of our tribe, but she is a good hunter and an excellent scout. Furthermore, she is young and as you probably already noticed she’s one of the prettiest girls in our tribe. I’m certain that she’ll find herself a good husband sooner than later.”

Pretty was an understatement, I would rather call her drop dead gorgeous. It wasn’t for her looks that I had rejected her unconventional marriage proposal. As I recalled the events of yesterday, I felt a little bit sorry for rejecting her so hard, she hadn’t meant me harm after all.

I turned my attention back to Kayley. For a fraction of a second I felt there was something off about her, but I couldn’t put my finger to what it had been. Perhaps she had smiled differently, I couldn’t really tell. Feeling that for the second time I had just missed an important clue, I cursed my own denseness when it came to observing others.

”If I were to assure you that I will make it crystal clear to Aisly that it was me who denied her and not you… Would that take away your reservations?” Kayley then continued.

I wasn’t too sure that it would change my feelings about it much. Then again, I owed Aisly absolutely nothing. Ever since we met she had only made things more complicated, and worse she had drooled on my coat! Whether I liked it or not, Tish was going to be my wife and soon we would move on, leaving this village behind us… Then why did I still feel this way?

After a brief internal struggle, I managed to cast my feelings for Aisly aside. ”I guess that would help a little bit, yes… Still there is another thing that doesn’t sit well with me. Don’t get me wrong – I am sympathetic to your girls’ cause – I can’t help but feel, though, that Tish and I are the ones making the sacrifices here…”

”I will not argue against that. But, as you can see by the lack of man in our village, my girls don’t have many other options. I could offer you something in return, but if I’m not mistaken you’ve already got something on your mind.” Kayley observed.

There wasn’t too much I could think of that they hadn’t already offered me freely. There was one thing, however it was a rather daring thing to ask of her. On the other hand, it was no more than she was asking of us. I figured that at the worst she would refuse, so I decided to take the gamble and I fished the small vial out of my pocked. As I looked at the vial I began, ”If someone would have told me less than a week ago that the contents of this vial would allow me to perform with over a dozen girls, I would have been… skeptical… With all the things that I have seen lately, however, I’m inclined to believe you. If I remember correctly, you said something about me setting a record if I were to drink this… I can’t help but wonder though, shouldn’t a chief lead by example? Help set an even bigger record?”

It seemed that for the first time I had caught Kayley by surprise. ”So, let me get this straight.” She said skeptically. ”You want me to fuck you in order to gain your favor to fuck my girls?”

I guess we were done with the synonyms and euphemisms. ”Exactly. If you want me to fuck your girls, you’re going to have to take one for the team as well. I’m not going to do something for you that you aren’t willing to do yourself.” I replied a little more smug than intended, but it was so satisfying to get a drop on her.

She was silent for a moment, contemplating my offer. Then she let out a hearty and thunderous guffaw. ”Ha! I honestly did not see that one coming. Quite the situation you put me in, especially if you phrase it like that. Well I´m not going to be a cunt and deny my own girls… I accept!”

She then blatantly checked me out, putting in no effort to hide it. I could nearly feel her gaze moving all over me, while she slowly licked her lips. ”I’m starting to like you more and more Erwin, it has been a long time since one surprised like that. I can respect that.”

While checking me out she had been slowly pacing around me as to get a good look at me from every angle. Suddenly I felt her long hair brush against my back as she leaned in and whispered seductively in my ear. ”You have no idea how arousing that was for me, for that I’ll give you my best. I’m really grateful you are willing to do this for my girls. Now, as much as I would love to get to it immediately, there are some final preparations for your wedding I must attend to. The celebrations start at sundown, that should give you two just enough time to get a last round of practice in. Now if you excuse me, I need to change into a dry pair of panties...”

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

”How is she doing?” Kayley asked as she entered the outer most building of the village. She looked at Frosya who was sitting on the edge of a large bed and was keeping watch over Aisly.

”Lynn thoroughly inspected her and couldn’t find anything other than her being drained just enough to knock her out for a while. I guess we owe the Zombie one for not harming her more than necessary… Don’t think she’ll be waking up before the morrow though. Probably for the better, seeing what you’ve been trying to arrange for tonight. How did that go by the way?” Aisly’s mentor answered.

”How shall I put it… I was surprised by his reaction in more than one way...” Kayley replied with the faintest hint of a smile on her face.

Frosya raised an eyebrow in a mild expression of surprise. ”Well that sounds evasive. Bring it.”

”He was rather hesitant because he felt that he would hurt Aisly’s feelings if he were to agree. He already has more feelings for her than he realizes.” Kayley answered.

A smirk appeared on Frosya’s face as she said, ”Told you he has a weak spot for redheads. From the moment we found him it was obvious he was captivated by her. It’s good to hear that her tactless approach hasn’t pushed him away… Maybe we still have a chance…”

”If we play it right, I’m pretty sure we can hook those two, or should I say three, up. I’ve already got a plan on how to make that happen. We can work out the details with the Elves once they arrive here from Westholm.” Kayley said with a devious grin.

Yeah, though I decided not to go with the initial approach. That didn't make sense in light of how the she had reacted this far. Besides from the Amazonesses perspective, all he actually asked for was to extend the favor she was asking of him even further.

Read the chapter, liked it, not sure what else to say.

Chapter 14 – League of Amazonesses

Tish and I would be getting more than enough nookie practice at the wedding, so I proposed we go relax outside instead. It would be good to get some rest and enjoy the slowly fading sunlight while it lasted. Besides, I had some catching up to do with my notes after the interruption by Miss Threesome this morning. As always Tish did not complain. We sat down in a soft spot of grass behind the longhouse. Tish embraced me from behind and rested her chin on my shoulder. While I had begun going over my notes, she had decided I needed grooming. She continuously ran her fingers through my hair while occasionally moaning contently. She sure knew her onions, and soon an appreciative groan escaped me. Tish happily replied with another moan. I chuckled. I guess caveman grunts and zombie are similar languages.

Writing down what I had learned and experienced helped me organize my thoughts. It felt so bizarre that a mere 24 hours ago we had only just met Frosya and Aisly. It felt so much longer. Then I suddenly remembered my pocket watch. I immediately reached for it and, much to my relief, found it still running. I wound the watch up and put it back in my pocket. For no particular reason, I wrote down the time and position of the sun. It was close to sundown. I finished up my notes and then leaned back against Tish who gleefully embraced me. Somehow, she managed to hug me without missing a single stroke of her grooming. I closed my eyes and while her skillful fingers kept spoiling me. I slowly lost track of time.

I must have dozed off, for I hadn’t heard the Amazonesses approach us. ”Everything has been taken care of; you two ready for an Amazonian wedding?” a familiar voice asked.

”I guess my hour of reckoning has finally come.”

I turned around and saw Kayley and the elder I believe was called Aedelind. Aedelind had to be tallest Amazoness in the village; she stood half a head taller than Kayley, who was already a head taller than me. Unlike Kayley, Aedelind’s muscles were not hidden underneath soft female shapes: She was lean and had a sixpack. Not buff like a bodybuilder, but rather ripped with the kind of muscles you get from heavy labor and, I guess, swinging oversized weapons. Her light ash blonde hair was braided into a Mohawk that came straight out the Vikings tv-series. A set of bright steel-blue eyes complemented topped off her Viking looks. She wore an asymmetrical leather skirt that came down to halfway her upper leg on one side and to her knee on the other. The skirt was accompanied by black leather boots and a mono strap sleeve-less leather top that was short enough to show off her abs. Finally, I noticed that she had freshly repainted her arrow markings in a deep crimson. She looked formidable, intimidating even, yet at the same time there was a mischievous twinkle in her eyes.

Kayley was wearing a sexy two-piece doe-skin bikini and skirt. Her attire reminded me of an old movie poster I once saw, but I couldn’t recall its title. She had tied her long hair in a loose ponytail and her arrow markings were freshly repainted as well, but hers were a calming indigo color. Her tail was slowly swinging back and forth and I noticed that she had tied an indigo ribbon around her tail just underneath the spade tip. It perfectly matched the indigo color of her markings.

Tish and I got to our feet and I answered, ”Not going to get more ready than this...”

”Are you nervous?” Kayley asked.

”Yeah.” I admitted.

”I know it doesn’t help you right now, but the nervousness will subside fast. One of the side effects of the Alraune nectar is that it helps to overcome your inhibitions. Besides, Tish and I got your back; if need be, we’ll help you through.” She said with a reassuring smile. ”Before we join the others, there are a few more things you should know…”

I nodded for her to continue. ”As for the girls… Don’t be fooled by their bravado when they are vying for your attention. As soon as it’s their turn to join you, that facade will quickly crumble. Most of them probably will be even more nervous than you are now. Sure some may have visited a whore once or twice, but they all have yet to experience proper sex with a proper man, as whores tend to have grown... indifferent.”

She might not have said it out loud, but for once I immediately understood what she was expecting of me. ”As if I wasn’t under enough pressure already...

”I promise I’ll do my best, but I'm not that... experienced... either.”

”Believe me, they are smart enough to know the difference between inexperience and indifference. It might not seem like much to you, but just showing them you care will make tonight something special they'll remember rather than a formality.”

”I see...” Was my only reaction while I tried to process what she had just said.

She waited a few seconds to let her words sink in. Then her tone switched from serious to chipperly as she continued. ”Well then, shall we go? Aedelind would you be so kind to escort the groom? I’ll be escorting the bride.” With that she offered Tish her arm.

Aedelind mischievously smiled as she offered her muscled arm -- her arm was as thick as my legs -- to me. ”You sure I’ll be getting my arm back if I accept?” It had left my mouth before I could pull it back.

Aedelind let out a thunderous guffaw and flexed her muscles. ”Har! Ye worship me muscles and I’ll think aboot that, laddie.” She replied with a light Scottish accent, while giving me a playful wink. Based on her reaction I guess I could safely say that she had taken no offense to my rude blurt out. Still ashamed for my temporary lack of control, I accepted her arm without further objections.

Walking arm in arm with Aedelind was quite the experience. It made me feel very small. I guess that must be how others feel while walking besides me. Right after we had starting walking around the longhouse Aedelkind spoke up. ”Chief's got faith in ye, laddie. Don’t think she would have asked ye to give our daughters a pumpin' otherwise.”

”Daughters?” I asked confused. The possibility that these elders were the mothers of the other Amazonesses had not even crossed my mind. I didn’t know what was more fucked up: the fact that I had demanded to fuck Kayley in front of her daughters for me to fuck said daughters, or the fact that she had accepted it.

”Oi, where else they be comin' from ye think? Out of the fookin’ ground?”

”No, of course not. But, I thought you were like their older sisters or something. I mean you don’t look that much older.”

”Har! Aren’t ye the charmer. Watch oot laddie, ye keep flattering us like that and the zombie ain’t the only girl ye be marryin’ tonight. Chief has already taken a likin’ to ye. Ye put her in a bonny pickle, and a’ve never seen her this enthusiastic aboot that. Har! Ye realize she can’t say no to whatever ye ask of her tonight, right? So, give her arse a good spankin’ for me, will ye?”

I was baffled. ”Did she just ask me to spank Kayley?!” I found her remark hot but also disturbing.

”I’m right here; You know I can hear you, right?!” Kayley growled at Aedelind.

”So? A’m talkin’ to the laddie, not ye!” Aedelind shot back unfazed. Then she turned back to face me with a victorious grin on her face. ”Oi, ye heard it yerself: She ain’t denying it! Har! Must mean she likes it.”

”Urgh! You’re giving me an headache!” Kayley complained.

Aedelind replied only with a thunderous salvo of laughter. For the second time during my short stay here I had been wrongly assuming that these Amazonesses must be in league with one another.

Heh. I'd have to know a bit more about what I'm looking for to track that movie poster down. There are quite a few that fit that description.

Interesting twist about the girls in the village being the chief's and Aedelind's daughters, though. Now I want to know if it was by the same father or different fathers -- or if Aedelind is the sire. I know, I know, no spoilers...

True. I think it was the success of this movie that sparked a lot of similar movies with similarly dressed women on the movie poster, though don't pin me down on this one really being the original one...

Not just Kayley's and Aedelind's, but the other elders' as well (which includes one or two that are currently stationed in Faldarfar). As for the dad, "dad", or dads, that would be indeed be a spoiler :-P

That's what I thought! Yes, Raquel Welch in that suede bikini is largely to blame for similar outfits on actresses in film and television ever since. To be fair, this is Raquel Welch we're talking about. She would look uber-hot in a burlap sack. Still and all, we have her to thank for the Nubile Savage trope: http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/NubileSavage

Interesting link. I've been snooping around there a little and I must conclude that every member of this Amazonesses tribe fits either the Nubile Savage, the Action Girl, the Amazonian Beauty, the Indian Maiden, or a combination of two or more of those. :-)

Glad to see you're back on track. It can be a pain to wrangle with some stuff but at least you're moving forward.

Also...wow, I guess I hadn't thought about just how tall these women were. Even the biggest character I've yet written isn't nearly as tall as Aedelind. I can only imagine that will be quite the experience. =)

Indeed. I can say from experience that face-to-face intercourse with a woman who is significantly taller means getting a faceful of boob. Not that that's bad...

Yeah, though Aedelind's is feakishly tall even for an Amazoness. Kayley is already considered tall. Most Amazonesses (at least in this tribe) are between 1.9m and 2.1m (6'3" - 6'11"). The MC is 2m (a little over 6'6") and hence fits right in.

I always imagine Dragons being really tall as well. I wouldn't be surprised to meet dragons who are over 2.5 meters (~8'2") in their "human form".

This was easily the hardest chapter I've written so far. That is probably also the main reason as to why in the last 9 months I have only released two chapters. On the upside though, with over 4.3K words this is also my longest chapter as of yet ;-)

Also I updated the story progress maps. This is the latest one that shows the location of Highleigh.

Now without further ado:

Chapter 15 – Welcome to Highleigh

I was amazed how quickly the Amazonesses had transformed the central clearing that served as their village square. A large bonfire had been erected, food was being prepared, and kegs filled with what I assumed to be beer had been hauled over. The most striking change, however, had to be the huge logs that they had placed in a circle around the bonfire to create an artificial pit that was at least seven to eight meters across. Inside the pit they had covered pretty much everything that was not the bonfire in numerous pelts, rugs, blankets, and pillows. I realized that they had built quite a literal snu-snu pit. Amazing.

The logs were so thick that they came past my shoulders, and they were placed such that there was no opening left to serve as an entrance; one had to climb over them to get in. I did not have the same climbing skills I had as a kid anymore, also I was both much taller and much heavier. Nevertheless, it meant that, much to her amusement, I needed a boost from Aedelind to get on top of them.

The other Amazonesses were already inside and were sitting on the rugs while using the fur covered logs as their backrest. Kayley and Tish were waiting for us next to the bonfire and I spotted Frosya off to the side sitting on top of the logs. She was wearing a similar attire as Aedelind, whereas all the younger Amazonesses were sporting similar revealing leather bikinis and skirts as Kayley. If their intention was to turn me on by dressing that way, then they had succeeded spectacularly.

A quick headcount revealed that only two Amazonesses were not present, one of them being Aisly. I had mixed feelings about Aisly not being there. All things considered, though, I guess that it was for the best she was still knocked out.

Aedelind jumped down from the logs, though it looked more like she just took a big step. Not wanting to wait for snarky remarks about me needing help to get down, I jumped down after her. To my own surprise I landed gracefully, turning a simple jump into a little bit of a show off. It was probably more luck than skill, but that was something nobody needed to know. My “grand entrance” had not be missed by the Amazonesses. Their chatter ceased and immediately all eyes were glued onto me.

”Har! Seems ye don’t need any help gettin’ down. Shame. Catchin’ ye would’ve been me pleasure,” Aedelind said, while theatrically showing how that would have looked.

”I could not wish for a more humble protector,” I mocked.

”Humility is one of me many virtues! How’d ye guess? Har! If ye want, I can “humbly” carry ye the last steps, while we pretend I caught ye,” she retorted.

”A most generous offer, but I’m afraid I will have to pass; my legs still work perfectly fine,” I countered.

”Har! I can help ye with that too.” She gave me a wink. I hoped that she was not jokingly offering to break my legs. Thankfully, she just took me by the arm again and continued with only a marginally more serious tone in her voice. ”Har! I’m gettin’ thirsty. Let’s get this weddin’ goin’!”

She escorted me the last few meters to where Kayley and Tish were waiting for us. There she handed me over to Tish, who happily accepted me. ”Oi zombie, ye seem alright. Take good care of him will ye.” She gave Tish a pat on the back and then turned to me. ”Oi laddie, ye seem alright. I know yer smitten by me abs, but I’m afraid it would never work out between us. Zombie seems like a good alternative, though. Take good care of her will ye.” She gave me a pat on the back as well, and then, like Forsya, took her seat on top of the logs rather than inside the pit.

I took Tish’s hand in mine, not only to show that I cared for her -- which I did -- but also because I needed her to give me the confidence to continue. I was surprised at how happy this made her. She was beaming with joy. I took her other hand in mine as well. Our eyes locked, and for a moment time froze. I gazed into her beautiful eyes and I realized what a lucky guy I was that she had been the one to find me: She had been patient with me when I was freaked out by her. She had fed me when we were lost in the wetlands. She had backed me when I needed it the most -- even willing to risk her own life for my freedom -- and now she was about to selflessly share me with over a dozen other women. For all this she had not asked anything in return; even this wedding was not by her request, but because Kayley had arranged it for her.

”Shall we start?” Kayley asked. I nodded. She gestured for silence and then raised her voice, ”I could hold a long speech about how today Tish has earned herself the right to claim a man, or why she will be welcomed into our tribe as a sister… But… I prefer a short one! Let us feast!”

Feasting was clearly one of their favorite activities, because an approving roar rose from the small crowd. Immediately after large mugs of beer were handed out. When everyone had received one, Kayley raised hers and brought out the toast. ”Here’s to Tish and Erwin! May they live long and fuck often!”

The Amazonesses responded by raising their mugs to us as well, ”Aye, may they live long and fuck often!” Then everyone chugged their drink in one go. Tish and I, however, could not contain ourselves and we simultaneously burst out in laughter.

”Without doubt this is the best toast I’ve heard in my life!” I commented with tears in my eyes.

The Amazonesses knew how to make a damn good dinner too, even though it consisted of only two courses. We started with a deliciously salty vegetable broth, and then followed up with a main course of campfire roasted meat and vegetables, everything of course complemented with strong ale. I had never been a fan of extravagant weddings, so this was just right for me. The atmosphere during the dinner appeared to be relaxed -- an unknowing person might have even called it a laidback night around the campfire -- but there was a subtle anticipatory tension for the part that was to come after dinner.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

By the time we had finished eating, the Sun had fully set, but the moon was not yet up, so it was really dark; aside from the stars, the bonfire was our only source of light. It reduced my world to just the “snu-snu” pit and washed everything in that small world in the warm, cozy color tones. I did not mind at all.

I had expected that there would be some sort of brief ceremony before the bedding part of this wedding would start, but there was none. At some point Tish simply got up, took me by the hand, and walked me to an empty spot that was not too close to the bonfire. I suspected that this spot was intentionally left vacant for us to consume our marriage, and later for me to lay the Amazonesses too, as this was the place where the softest and fluffiest animal skins had been laid out.

Tish kicked off her shoes and reached for my coat. This was it! This was the moment I had both been dreading and anticipating! My heart started to race. This would not be my first time with Tish, but it would be my first time in front of an audience. She took the vial of Alraune nectar out of my pocket and then removed my coat. To my surprise she neatly folded it, while making sure that everything I was carrying on me stayed in the pockets. I then handed her my hat and she put it carefully on top of the coat. The rest of my clothing, however, was simply tossed aside, betraying her eager. I suppressed a smile, she had already picked up on which clothes meant something to me and which clothes less so.

With only my boxers left, I got even more nervous, for we were now at the point of no return. Tish must have noticed it, as she embraced me and made no attempt to remove them. Aside from the crackling of the bonfire, the snu-snu pit had grown dead silent, but one glance to either side revealed that our audience had not left. In fact, most Amazonesses already sat with spread legs and one hand down in their skirts, leaving no doubt as to what they would be doing when Tish was riding me. This was… awkward.

Suddenly there was a brief, gentle tug on my mind. Spooked I resisted it easily, but no sensation I had ever experienced came even close to describe what just had happened. It was as if something was trying to goad my thoughts in a specific direction. Though unsuccessful, it freaked me out. Confused I looked around to see what the heck was going on, only for another little tug to mess with me. Again, I easily resisted it; whatever it was, it didn’t seem to use much “force”, if you could even speak of force when it came to something happening in your head. Tish moaned softly. Was she experiencing it too? I was about to ask her, when a third little tug happened. I cannot exactly say how, but I knew without a doubt it was Tish!

”What the heck!”

”Are you…?” I asked. Tish nodded before I had even finished the question. I was confused. What was she doing? And why?

I had always prided myself for being strong of mind. Only now that a plethora of conflicting thoughts and emotions took residence in my mind, I realized that I had never been truly tested. With great mental effort I cleared my mind, for surrendering myself to my emotions here could only result in harm being done. What I needed was ratio; I needed not think about the how, but rather focus on the why. What reason could Tish have to try and invade my mind? The answer to that I did not know, but what I did know was that I could not think of a reason for Tish to harm me. If our relationship was ever going to work, then we had to trust the other. Now it was up to me to trust her. Nevertheless, one’s mind is easily the scariest thing to relinquish control of, so it took a few deep breaths and some mental preparing before I had mustered the courage necessary to say, ”I trust you…”

”Violet eyes!”

For a moment her eyes glowed, burned even, in a bright violet. The mind tug that followed was much stronger. This time I did not attempt to resist it. My thoughts solely focused on Tish, but other than that it seemed much had happened. I was still me. Tish was still hugging me. And we were still about to “seal the deal” on our marriage. The only thing that mattered right now was Tish, and my god what was she beautiful!

She smiled at me as she, in one fluid motion, laid me down on the fluffy furs. She pulled up the skirt of her dress and straddled me. Then she popped the lid of the vial, stole a quick peck, and finally fed me the Alraune nectar. The nectar was delicious, and I needed no further encouragement from her to swallow it all. Visibly content she stole another kiss.

Tish lay exhausted on my chest. I simply embraced her, and played with her breasts while I was catching my breath. Given what she was, I could not really say she was catching her breath too, but she most certainly needed to recuperate as well. We stayed like that for a few minutes before finally some life returned to Tish. For a second, I saw her eyes flare up in a bright violet, then she kissed me on the cheek and got up.

Suddenly a whole lot of thoughts returned to me. One of them being the realization that Tish and I had not been alone. How the heck could I have forgotten that the Amazonesses were there!? Startled I looked around. What I saw, I figured could only be the aftermath of a furious group masturbation session. Pieces of clothing were strewn around as were the Amazonesses. They were all breathing heavily, obviously trying to catch their breaths too.

”Har! Now, that was some good fuckin’, laddie! Can’t wait tae see what’s comin’ next.“ Aedelind said, while enthusiastically applauding me.

”Errr… Thanks, I guess?” I answered a bit sheepishly, unsure what to do with being praised for something like that. Aedelind, amused by my answer, laughed.

She pointed to my left and said, ”Time tae git ready fer a new round! And remember laddie: unless ye want tae keep ‘em, don’t let ‘em on top. Har!” I looked in the direction she was pointing. There Tish had just helped a blonde Amazoness, whose name I did not know, to her feet and now motioned for her to follow. Judging by the Amazoness’ reaction, Kayley had not told her about our agreement. The girl initially stared in disbelief at Tish, but when Tish motioned a second time, it finally seemed sunk. Overly eager but heavily blushing, she followed.

The rest of the night I spent fucking a dozen Amazonesses one by one. I used the foreplay to find out their preferences, and adjusted what followed to those findings. It was amazing how big the differences between the Amazonesses were, though, most liked it “passionate”.

Tish had saved Esme for last. True to her imago, she had asked Tish to be involved as well. The Alraune nectar was a true miracle potion, giving me super human stamina and endurance, but after I had finished with Esme and Tish, I was spent. And Kayley’s part of the agreement still had to come.

After Esme had reluctantly joined the crowd again, Kayley approached. ”That was beautiful, Erwin. I am greatly indebted to you. You look fatigued, tough, you think you have one more round left in you?”

I did not. ”I don’t know. It seems the nectar is starting to wear off…”

”I see.” Depending on how messed up she was, I had expected either disappointment or relief in her voice, but it was rather an understanding, almost motherly tone. She gave Tish a towel and asked, ”Would you help him get dressed, please?”

Tish dried off the sweat and the various other bodily fluids that were smeared all over my body, then helped me get dressed. Meanwhile Kayley had been giving out various orders. A few Amazonesses were send away, while the others cleaned up the mess that our nightly activities had created. At first, I thought they were simply wrapping up the wedding, but then the ones that had been send away returned with several drums and a chair. The chair was placed such that there was plenty of room all around it, then a few light pelts were draped over it. Once the chair was in place, Kayley send all the Amazonesses to go sit on top of the logs.

”If I may?” Kayley asked Tish, who nodded and then left me to join the Amazonesses on top of the logs. Kayley guided me to the chair where she invited me to take a seat. I obliged.

”Thank you Erwin.” She whispered. ”You went above and beyond what we could have asked from you, that is something I won’t forget. Now, go and get some rest. You’ve earned it…” With that she placed a peck on my forehead, and immediately the lights went out.

Yeah, this chapter and the previous chapter have been a real pain to write. I had especially a hard time trying to find the right words for the Amazoness elders in the previous chapter. When they told him that the younger girls are rather inexperienced. Think I wrote that dialogue part over 10 times and tried to make it work with different elders, and I'm still not a 100% happy with how it eventually turned out. Hope writing the following chapters goes much easier.

As for whether he accidentally married a second or even third wife as well: gotta leave something for the next chapter. One thing is sure, he has to survive are at least 10 more days of Amazoness shenanigans :-P

This is funny, when I press quote, your comment becomes a lot longer xD
But I know the problem with the dialogue writing. That's the main reason the crossover chapters I'm doing with Tyger right now are taking so much longer to write. I keep writing and re-writing dialogue before I send anything to Tyger and even then I'm sometimes still dubious about what I'm sending. Still, I think your chapter turned out quite well.

And I'm also sure your MC is looking forward to 10 more days of shenanigans :P
