Mysterious Girlfriend X
| This is odd. I loved this screenshot from the first episode of Mysterious Girlfriend X and often use it as a background for my devices: https://moesucks.files.wordpress.com/2012/04/nnkx-0123.jpg One day, I was searching for some similar images since I know that Mysterious Girlfriend X has more than one beautiful cityscape. I put the image above in the google image search and found this image under similar results: https://41.media.tumblr.com/c0e7b430d04f8463d90905a08a61ec31/tumblr_nxw54vIvqY1s5h8ico9_1280.png The second image is from the sixth episode of One Punch Man. However, if you compare both images, the one from Mysterious Girlfriend X and the one from One Punch Man, you'll see that both images depict the EXACT same town down to the buildings, power transmission poles, and foliage. I was baffled to discover the second image was from a completely different anime, so it made me truly curious. Why is this? Is this just a generic town layout that animators use in multiple anime to save time? |

| That's actually pretty interesting Maybe they have these generic backgrounds usable as stock photos which any studio can use as they please? Sounds a bit far-fetched to me but yeah there's no way that can be a coincidence at least. If it was two different anime made by the same studio it'd make sense but that's clearly not the case here so... idk |

| Ikeda Shigemi was art director for both series. Curious whether he did it on purpose or forgot he had used the backdrop before, but I'm sure he (and most directors) have thousands of references stored away for whatever they need. Time to rewatch Yakitake and SNAFU to see if it pops up again |
