Great episode. For a majority of this show, I had been hoping for a glimpse at the more mundane parts of Fuu's journey. That campfire scene in particular really did a lot for me.

This is my second Shinichiro Watanabe show, but I can tell that he's really skilled at setting up a finale. Even if the whole shogunate thing came out of nowhere, the amount of action and tension in this episode was exhilarating. This is going to be my first '3-parter' episode, so I hope it can keep up the pace.

So Seizo is highly wanted by the government and they had been following Fuu,his daughter this whole time to find his whereabouts. The conclusion is drawing close...

Obviously i knew it wouldn't have happened, but i still imagine Mugen, Jin and Fuu competing with each other about the food in the pot with overdramatic extreme close-ups, red filtered shots and analytical monologues about eating all the meat leaving none to the others. Please understand, only very recently i watched a certain amazing Gintama episode that ended with a shinigami on the roof.

Oh my God so this whole thing was based off of Shimabara Rebellion!? This is very interesting to me because during these times Japan for some reason hates Christianity and sees themselves as some sort of protector of Asia, so the thing is, the Philippines was currently occupied by Spain going on about a century now and Japan has been making plans on invading us to free us from the Spanish and halt the spread of Christianity in the country and ultimately in Asia. Idk what was going through the mind of the Japanese government back then trying to pick a fight with the Empire of Spain knowing full well that almost half the world was under their rule back then but right before they can send soldiers, booom! the Shimabara rebellion happened so they had to scrap the plan and focus on that instead. Incidentally, the rebels were Christians too so I guess that further increased their hatred for the religion. They executed over 35,000+ Japanese Christians during the rebellion.

Come to think of it, they've really been through a lot, I think they've become best friends.
I feel that in the next episode there will be a big battle and a big surprise.

Jin's off-screen "umai" is probably the best thing from this series so far

So here we are, last few episodes, and it's a 3-episode arc to tie it all off! Let's see how hard it hits.

I wonder if we'll see the Yatsuha girl we met who was undercover at that brothel. If I remembered correctly, she promised Mugen she would see him again one day. It would be a nice touch if she had a scene or two as this series wraps up.

The realization hurts me that the series is 'bout to get over, it's been a beautiful journey. Maybe I'll come back again.

I hope that Fuu's father comes down to save her, it would be a shame if he's a powerless old man by this point of his life.
