 The wraparound jacket on the 15th volume of Strike the Blood has announced a new OVA series of the light novels. Author Gakuto Mikumo previously announced that the 15th volume marks the end of the current story, though the series will continue under a new title.Strike the Blood was previously adapted into a TV anime which aired over two quarters beginning Fall 2013. A two-episode OVA series with original content written by Mikumo was also released at the end of 2015. North American publisher Yen Press began releasing the light novel series in English in September 2015. According to the official Twitter account of the anime adaptation, further information on the new OVAs will be made available in Dengeki Bunko Magazine and Dengeki Daioh. The 50th volume of Dengeki Bunko Magazine will go on sale on June 10, while the July 2016 issue of Dengeki Daioh will go on sale on May 27. Source: Official Twitter |

| Not the news I was hoping for (was hoping for a season 2), but I'm not too surprised. ichii_1 said: Because things can peak. It got its boost through the first season, and I heard the sales have now peaked (the OVA's did like nothing to further boost the sales), so there's little reason for them to push for another season when they won't be selling more books. This is why say Index will never get a S3, sales of the LN have peaked, it doesn't need more promotion anymore. Warner Bros. on the other hand has interest, the sales of the OVA's were more than double the sales of the actual series (TV series: 6,225 OVA's: 13,281 Source).With the garbage TV ratings it got towards the end for a primetime slot, I wouldn't bet on it. Japan doesn't care that much about Bleach anymore (manga sales have declined a lot, and it ranks towards the bottom regularly in the WSJ rankings). |

 From the article it looks like the title of the OVA series is "Strike the Blood II". I guess this is an official second season of the anime but in the form of OVAs. The release dates for four volumes of the OVA series are confirmed but it's possible there will be more. My guess is the episodes that will be released in November and December will cover Vol 9 and the episodes in March and April will cover another arc. Too bad the anime doesn't cover Vol 7 & 8, if only someone had translated those volumes before the LN series got licensed in English. |
