Nice to see this finally animated. I noticed some dynamic action/animation here and there. I've always hated Bakugou. I was expecting this adaptation to be rushed, but now I think the adaptation will end up being slow-paced instead. Looking forward to the next 12 episodes.

More like Boku no Generic Genericness. Really disappointing start, it brought absolutely nothing new to the table, the classic weak / crybaby underdog MC story. It looks really, really low budget, even the stills looks really bad, tho i don't know if that's the artstyle from the manga or the budget for this was really really small.

I totally agree. To be honest I wasn't expecting much to begin with, I'm only watching it because I've got nothing better to do :p

"Here it is ! Here it is ! Here it is ! Here it is ! Here it is !"

This was GREAT ! I loved the opening and the soundtracks !
I was so moved on by Deku's past and his struggle of being quirkless in this episode compared to the manga.
This might be even better than the manga. This is me right now

I'd give it an 8 already but I don't rank shows from only one episode.
Too bad it's only 13 episodes though. With 85 chapters they could have done about 24 episodes I think.

The episode feels kinda incomplete and lacking power because it only adapts half of the first chapter of the manga, but 60 pages are a lot so I don´t have complains with the adaptation.

Dont know about the manga but im looking forward to this, so far (maybe a but too early) this looks like the anime of the season for me ^^
It has a "one punch man" vibe to it, nice.

Some people compare this to HxH, but why?

I think that both series have the same kind of feeling to it.
Do they? From the first episode the world and the overall atmosphere seems much closer to something like OPM, at least to me.

Anyway, I really enjoyed this first episode. This is like your typical start to a shounen jump title, but the visibly high production values give it a little edge over similar older and/or longer-running shows. Special mention to the exquisite color palette and the very solid animation. However, I regret the overuse of the "brightness reduction" technique, which I feel really begins to lose in impact and effectiveness when it goes on for too long, as exemplified by the action scenes in the OP and the one with slimy villain vs All Might. Other than that no complaints, really.
Midoriya is your run-of-the-mill "0 to hero" type of main character but I'm willing to give him a pass because he looks absolutely adorable and the faces he makes are hilariously .GIF-worthy. Can't say I'm blown away just yet but I'm definitely feeling it, so I'll stick around.

I thought it was a perfect adaptation, and the slow pacing is necessary considering there is only about 80 chapters, and I imagine that they want multiple season of this

I actually enjoy the slower pace, as others said the first chapter was long, and I find the first episode gripped you without giving too much away. The people already dropping this confuse me, what happened to the 3 episode trial?

The colours and art style are pretty refreshing, it's almost western with a hint of kid-friendliness. And for some reason I found the ep gave a sense of nostalgia, be it from me remembering the first chapter or remembering what it's like to have a role model that's pretty out of reach.

Deku is a great characters, give him time, just because he's not kicking ass now doesn't make him weak. One of the main things I'm looking forward to most is the character development, just sit tight it's only the first episode.

Am I the only one who disliked the way they interpreted the scenes? When Bakugou bullies Midoriya in the manga it felt serious and dramatic, but in the anime it just felt comedic with all the sound effects. The OP and ED are alright though, and the animation is fine I guess. Pacing is pretty slow but I can hang with this

Someone here gets it. This is just your typical shounen which is done a bit better with higher quality compared to others so people shouldn't really be expecting something special in a short time just because it's not long-running or has only 13 episodes at the moment. It can't be helped that this seems to be overhyped but that's just because lots of people enjoyed this and that doesn't necessarily means the series should be outstanding or something. Believe me that Deku is actually one of the better MC in a shounen, just give him some time to develop and you'll see.

The op is great.
Bones animation quality is great.

The concept and the story is tired and done thousand times over. I mean this is basically Naruto in spandex. Same old same tired same generic cliched "teenager underdog wants to achieve great things" kind of story without any sort of unique twist. I can already imagine ten thousand tournament arcs and all the other DBZ/Naruto stuff.

Might stay solely for Studio Bones never disappointing with quality and style( a lot of Concrete Revolutio style elements in the way it is show, which is always a plus). A popcorn level of show to fill time while waiting for each new ConRevo S2 episode (especially if people like Yutaka Nakamura would get to animate some fights).

3/5 for the episode. Solid 6/10 start for the anime.

Great first episode. I don't know why, but I just felt really happy watching this. I don't care how "generic" it is, it's fun to watch and that's all that matters. Not everything has to be something new. Have some fun once in your lives.

But man, I really love Bakugou. He was even trending on twitter earlier, lol.

Great episode, I thought the artwork was a bit messy at the start and there's an overuse of stills but the fights look great so far so I'm not too worried. The jokes actually work really well here more so than the manga, so that's good.

Bakugou's bullying was always on the side of comedic and absurd, but even still, although they made the mood a lot more light hearted, what he was telling him was pretty messed up.

Holy shit, they completely nailed it so hard for this adaptation.

Like they animated my favorite scene from the chapters, it was just too great for me. Other than that The Opening and Ending are fucking great, basically of course the style of the song.

Also I say as an adaption, I'm satisfied with whats going on. Hopefully we can see more from it :3

It's just the same thing over and over again. Set in a world where superpower is usual thing (and it never explained), and our MC is someone who born in a family who can casting a superpower and attend a hero school but he alone has no superpower, and of course he'll be has something special to tackle its disadvantage (which I believe his partner).

His characters are just basically every shounen hero, wimp, coward but kind.

I haven't read the manga but I'm sure that the guy who bullying him will become his best friend later on.

It just your typical shounen series no more no less. The good thing is that it is quite watchable so far

This is amazing. A perfect adaptation that I don't think could be done any better. It did annoy me they didn't cover the entire first chapter, it makes me wonder how far this will get. But it certainly didn't drag and I'm glad they're not rushing this at least. I think it's safe to say this will be my AOTS if they keep this up.

Also those kid Izuku faces we done so well. Forgot how great they are lol. The one with him rocking back and forth in the chair XD.

From the looks of it they aren't changing anything, so I guess you can wait around and see or bounce, doesn't matter either way. I don't disagree that it falls into the shounen formula but it avoids a fair number of the tropes although it also has a fair number of them. I'm not one of those people to encourage people to stick around and watch because "it gets better" I've been burned a lot by that, so at best I say just watch 2 or 3 more episodes and if it isn't for you it isn't for you.

Episode was so generic but not in a bad way. I thought the execution and exposition were pretty well-done. Love the Haikyuu-esque ost which was really obvious. Setting reminded me of OPM like others have said. Some comedy parts were good some were awks tho~

People compare this to hxh becoz of two reasons.

1.Both series' main male protagonist has similar personalities and hopes to prove what they are worth, (you will see more abt this later). Also , they try use their powers in a clever way.

2. Both series features a lot of battle mechanics and supernatural gimmicks. There is also emphasis on characterization with creative story development., and a colourful cast.

Solid first episode. Strong points were the mom-little deku crying scene and the general atmosphere/tone setting. Weak points (at least for me) were the comedy and the classroom bullying. The latter came off as a little on the nose and over the top.

Came for colorful characters and fun action. I still have no reason to think I won't get it so I'm exciting for next weekend. Surprised at some of the criticisms I've been seeing though. You all did know that this was going to be a light-hearted shounen, right?

No, because of the hype people were expecting something groundbreaking or different in the first ep, but it's not tbh. It's pretty much a standard shounen, but a bit cleverer and better written than the usual ones.

Although I must say that the anime will somewhat change it's tone in the 2nd half of this season, after the arrival of the villains.
