I read Boogiepop and Others and loved it and am now in the works of acquiring the rest of the licensed translations, does anyone know of any translators who did the non-licensed LNs?

Well, despite Seven Seas stating clearly that the licence was pretty much dropped, it doesn't look like any fan translator touched the series, which is quite a shame.

But Boogiepop isn't the kind of light novel that is popular today; meaning, it isn't some fantasy harem, the sole genre that is selling currently.

Or being in someone else’s dream –
Which would you prefer?"

The series is quite difficult to translate from what I've heard, it's very complex in its language use. Which might be a factor in people not wanting to put the tremendous effort in.

Here is the message posted by an admin in the Seven Seas forum on the 4th of December 2011:

If we knew more Boogiepop would sell, we would put out omnibus editions and rekindle interest. There's just not a fanbase big enough to support any additional type of new books, though. So again, if Japan put out a new anime, we would consider it. Until that happens, Boogiepop is a dead franchise.

Apart from possible translation difficulties, it's just not what sells anymore, be it for publishers of fan translators. There never were any translations for Kamisama no Inai Nichiyoubi or Jinrui wa Suitai Shimashita too, and we were lucky some very dedicated fan translators did the work for the majority of Kino no Tabi volumes.

I have an omnibus vol.1-3 edition in my hands because Japan spontaneously announced a new anime.

Now all I have to wait for is Jintai and the rest of the kino no tabi volumes.

So it will only take 8 to 9 more anime series to catch up in terms of light novels. Good job Seven Seas.

Four and five are the new ones. Originally only 1-3 and 6 were published in English.

Seven Seas said they'd be open for more if the omnibuses sold. Fingers crossed for that. Or that someone will finally fan translate them.

Who knows if the new anime will capture the attention of a fan translator though, it's a pretty disappointing adaptation.

Why did they skip 4 and 5? Planning to read from the start but I was wondering if it's ok to read vol 6 right after 3 without being confused.
The negative effects of my long life as a shut-in are kicking in now?

6 is an origin story. However if you get the second omnibus or buy e-books it'll have 4 and 5.

I heard some of the notes previously included for each individual volume are absent from the omnibus. If that's true, it's a bit disappointing.

Yeah, that. Volume 6 is about the origin of Boogiepop and takes place well before volume 1. It's been a few years since I last read it. I have all four of the original print volumes Seven Seas came out with. I was lucky to find them on eBay back in 2009 or so.

so far, through their Twitter page. They only intended to publish volumes 1-6. Also, that if we want further volumes to make a suggestion on their monthly series request on their website. Honestly it just felt like they have no intention of furthering this series cause it doesn't sell. It's a shame I have volume 1-6 and really want more, heard some of the newer LN were really good too. The anime is giving it some attention and new fans to go along with it, so I'm hoping for the best.

Thank you for the link, it's great that somebody is willing to translate the missing novel volumes.

I'll have to check that once I read the Seven Seas translation of volumes 5 and 6.

The link above is dead btw. If anyone wants to read the books beyond the 6 licensed, here's the place:
