Ok first off, im trying to make a manga/light novel collection and was thinking about trying to read the light novel of SAO.

I really like the light novels of Accel world which is written by the same author.... but here is my problem... I watched the anime of SAO and if fell short of my expectations. The reason is, is it felt to rushed and there wasnt really any character development. Is the light novel rushed like the anime is?

The anime is a horrible representation of the original series, you're better off reading the vastly superior novel series. The first season skipped more content than it actually adapted.
