The series looks really interesting as a father daughter scenario but I need to know if they get together at the end with some anime loli incest shit... It sounds like they don't but by the way I hear people saying don't read the manga, do they get together in the manga? Even if they get together only in the manga I'm not gonna watch the anime because that would mean the relationship developed in the anime was all meant to lead to that.... If I could get a clear answer that'd be lovely. And if they do what a shame.

The manga never fucking happened. It doesn't count. Only the anime is canon. Idgaf.

It's a heartwarming anime at its finest. You can find a "best kid" from every anime can give to you.

The anime is very benign and lighthearted, even compared to other anime about parenting. There is some cute humor and some drama, but definitely no ecchi fanservice anywhere. Safe for all ages.

Also, forget the manga. Watch the anime only, I do proclaim it the "definitive experience". If you really wanna know, the manga brings the story waaaay beyond the anime, and

Also, if you can find it, watch the live-action movie adaptation. It follows the story pretty closely and the actress playing Rin is ridiculously cute. There are also more twists and story bits about Daikichi, his work and other stuff. Well worth a watch!

"You know, when people make you feel angry or sad, it's usually because it matters to you what they think. The opposite of love isn't hate, it's apathy. Face it, if you didn't care about what they thought, you wouldn't hate them..." ~Planetes

The manga is targeted at a josei readership who are much more tolerant about love stories between people of different ages than the audience for shounen-oriented manga/anime. Also there are some major things that are only cleared up after the time-skip.
Please don't feed the trolls!
