An official website has opened for a TV anime adaptation of fantasy slice-of-life manga Flying Witch. The series is written and illustrated by Chihiro Ishizuka. It began serialization in Bessatsu Shounen Magazine in August 2012 and was originally published as a one-shot in 2007.

The series follows 15-year-old Makoto Kowata who moves from Yokohama to sleepy Aomori in northern Japan in order to train as a witch. While living with second cousins Kei and Chinatsu, she enjoys her daily life with the other boys and girls in the area. Flying Witch will air on the NTV and Aomori Broadcasting networks.

Slice of life with a witch MC? Interesting. This could be fun.

It's going to be hit or miss, mostly depending on the budget really.
Maybe get Junichi Sato up in this.

Slice of Life is always fine with me :) While I'm not a huge fan of witches, I really like the quiet rural setting of this.

I agree. It seems rather interesting to be, and the fact that she is a witch has piqued my interest a bit more. So adding to PTW list.

If this is anything like Aria, Barakamon, or Yotsubato then I'll definitely enjoy it. A nice comfy, soothing series.
Let's hope it doesn't get bogged down by any fanservice or other blatant otaku pandering nonsense. Simply pleasant series are hard to come by nowadays.

Also, since it's airing on NTV, I'm just taking a wild guess here and thinking that maybe Madhouse might be doing it. Let's hope so.

Fantasy slice of life is always welcome so I'm excited to see this. Hope it will retain the atmospheric setting and mood of the manga.

I wonder why studios sometimes announce things without a staff list. It's counterproductive.

No surprise it looked so familiar. After all I read like half a chapter of it a while ago. Half a chapter should tell you all you need to know but sometimes it takes a nice adaption to develop a liking for a series. In that sense, we shall see what happens.

The manga had nothing of the sort and I doubt they'll try stuffing animu with that. Choosing among the recent series, it's quite not unlike Non Non Biyori.

^ This. I really do hope this is one of those rare and unique type SoL anime, or else I'll cry if it fits into a genric fanservice type instead :/

Seriously? Awesome! I completely didn't expect that.
I think this might be my favourite slice of life comedy because even the jokes are so chill. It's kinda deadpan, but kinda not. People don't just underreact because whatever happened was too weird for words. Maybe it was, but really, they're cool with it. I hope the anime doesn't screw it up by underlining the punchlines too much.

It really shouldn't, unless the studio adds it. I don't remember any gratuitous nudity or weirdly erotic poses and camera angles at all.
And if they do mess it up, you can just read the manga. I think it's super pleasant.

Anyone that's expecting this to be some generic RomCom with typical fanservice bs, prepare to be disappointed.

This series is relaxing af, I always find myself excited to read the newest chapter despite how..."paced" this Manga is. This is going to be relaxing to check out~

Though now I only really question exactly how far they're going to go given that the Manga translations themselves aren't very far...@_@
Will I fall in love someday? I wonder?

I wonder if this is the new NTV-madhouse show that will replace Ore monogatari on NTV's wednesday anime block. :-)

Anyway, the sypnosis sounds interesting. I'll try watching the first few episodes when this comes out. I like calm, soothing atmospheric series.

Now take a look at Berserk (2016).
