Hello :)

Would you kindly list reason's why you thought aldnoah was bad?

Personally I thought the writing and directing was subpar and they tried to use shock tactics to cover it up. They tried to do what gundam did better I think.

Not to mention the main is a robot lol

Or you could list reasons why you thought it was good, i'm sure there's some who do around here

The main character was just blah. He was plain, spoke in a monotone voice all the time, showed almost no emotional response if none at all throughout the whole of the series. The decisions that the two main charactes made, the blonde guy and the other main guy just seem so stupid where ther could have been better alternatives. Last of all main girl ends up with some guy we don't know much about. It's like a big massive fuk you right into your face. That's my opinion of it, I cba to elaborate any further.

What about the ending of the 1st cour, what retarded was that??
After everyone was gunned to the head, all of them survive, one of them survived + get an mega upgrade, a robotic eye to calculate coordenates, also detect lies.

And the main antagonist of 1st cour, was reused. Not just that, lots of logical flaws, plot holes.
Sound and Wind in the space? Awesome. I talking about verisimilitude(fk if it's fiction, the logical and a tied plot still applies)

It's a silly show. I give a 5/10, just because they are pretentious and the first episode was very good.
But it's full of shit, predictable...

It tried to be smart and failed at it terribly. At least fail at it fabulously, then it could've been a little entertaining.

Here's the list of reasons why Aldnoah is a bad show:

And no, this show's similarities to Gundam are superficial at best. You cannot accuse them of trying to be Gundam when they didn't even have a char clone.

I really tried I really really tried to finish this anime. But I couldn't. The plot was nice and all, but it was just...the way it was told? one of the main characters? I only watched till episode 7.

Maybe it's not yet the right time to finish aldnoah.zero for me.

The most serious reason I can give is that the characters were bad. The show tries to be this Sci-fi, mecha, action, tragedy, drama, and it fails so hard at doing so. Yea the excessive mix of genres is already stupid. Personally I could watch all of Earth, and Mars blow up with all the characters on the planets in this anime and not give a flying fuck about any of them, and when you got bad characters in a Sci-fi, mecha, action, tragedy, drama....It probably means it's got shitty writing too.

Aldnoah's greatest strength was the promotional campaign behind it being able to draw IMO lots of unwarranted attention to it. It still at this point feels like they put more effort into promoting the show than into just making the show actually good and full of reasons to care about what is happening. Just very little imagination beyond attention to the superficial (how can we use this torture scene to placate fujoshi viewers and then basically abandon the plotline and character as an example) and all about rule of cool and trying every way possible to be popular. That's really what stands out as it's legacy to me, the show itself, utterly forgettable like a lot of recent mecha titles. Soulless.

Saburo-kun said:

I still maintain that the soundtrack wasn't even good at all, just loud and repetitive. Most of the scenes it played over it didn't even really fit the tone in any particular way or add to the atmosphere in a way that complemented what was happening onscreen, it was just kind of there.

lupadim said:

It's bad because it was a poorly constructed one relying on hype and leaning on the popularity of it's staff to carry the day. Sadly no lessons are likely to be learned here that just by having as many popular people as possible work on a show isn't necessarily going to make it good either by the people that watched it or the people that made it. Nobody cares, nobody reflects, nobody learns.

i get the hate for the show, after watching s1 i wont be watching s2. but to say its bad is a overstatement, its average. there is plenty of things that could have gone worse like

too much teen angst
fanservice
highschool theme
too much tsundere

the story/characters wasnt straight up predictable atleast.
had some raw scenes in it, but they never really committed to scratching them deeper then the surface.

The directing was crap, the supporting cast was cliché, and the main character showed the amount of emotion that is equal to the number of giant death machines hidden on mars in real life (hint: 0). Not only that, but the main character is basically Jesus, and as a freaking STUDENT is superior in combat and tactical forecasting than officers in the actual military. Not only that, but the idea of the aldnoah drive is also incredibly stupid, and no one could be enough of an idiot to do what the government of Mars does. Oddly enough though, the sound track isn't bad, and even has a few awesome songs. I guess 99% of the budget was in the music department.

The only good things in Aldnoah.Zero is the Animation, Music, mecha fights, decent mech designs, world setting, and first three episodes are well written.
The real vs super robot concept are very nice.

First season was very solid one but the second one, it has a writing and character development issue and thanks to Slaine who ruined A/Z)

I don't think A/Z is bad, it just underwhelmed

I don't mind anime with cliches and plot holes, I keep an open mind and can enjoy them regardless.
But this series has been ruined by the god awful soundtrack. I just could not get over it.
It was annoying, it was getting on my nerves and ruining every action scene of the series, when these female vocals were ripping my ears off when the action was supposed to be getting tense.

I gave it a 6 in the end. According to MAL, 6 means 'Fine' and it was just that fine. Not good, not bad just fine. If it wasn't for these female vocals during action scenes, I might have given it a 7/10.
Signature? I ain't got no signature! I don't need no signature! I don't have to show you any stinkin' signature!

The first cour of Aldnoah Zero is one of my most favorite anime, but I have no illusions as to it's objective quality. The side characters (on both sides) are underdeveloped, and only Inhao gets to shine in the battles. Inhao is an underdeveloped protagonist as well, the only explanation for his stoicism being that he is possibly autistic, which could have been mined for AMAZING story content. Marito's trauma is never fully explored either. It's suggested in the first season that the United Earth Government (or whatever, I've forgotten the name) was shady, but we never saw that. Finally, Slaine doesn't actually get a chance to shine until the finale; it would have been nice to see him piece together the conspiracy on his own before Saazbuum effectively invited him in. Furthermore, it's not clear as to whether or not Slaine wasn't thinking straight when he saved the count, or if was hoping that the Count would spare her and simply keep her locked up in secret. The pacing also stalls near the middle. Dr. Troyard and his research was never explored, and the state of the world post-Heaven's Fall wasn't really explored either.

Ultimately boils down to the first season being too short for what it could have explored and the execution could've been better.

They ripped the living shit off of several Gundam titles lmao, and did a shitty job filling in the plot. Kinda like when dumb kids copy an essay from an online source, and try to switch a few words around, but they end up making it sound retarded.

It isn't the worst mecha show I've seen, but man it was one of the worst I've seen.

Aldnoah.Zero basically tried to tell a story, or try to tell the political aspect or conflict of the show, but failed miserably at the end.

This is more apparent in its second cour which aired in Winter 2015, where they messed up the entire plotline and opened up a shit ton of plot holes by the end of the show, added too many asspulls to the point where it was pretty unfunny, as well as adding bullshit writing to the point where even in a fantasy esque sense it doesn't make sense (I'm not saying its fantasy but even then this is somehow bad).

Characters get backfired and added with very dislikable character traits and even then they aren't executed very well either. The only okay character would be Slaine but even then his character as a whole is messed up due to the way his character was shown.

Too many things that were left unanswered as well as too many problems when it comes to its consistency.

The only thing I will say is that the only good things were 1 character, the OST and the Art/Animation. They're good for what it's worth but it doesn't save much from a pretty shitty storyline.

I admit it's not as bad compared to Divergence Eve or G no Reconguista level bad.

I legitimately enjoyed the series (currently a 7/10 from me, for the first season), and I think the sheer amount of hate the series receives is unwarranted. However, I do see flaws in it that hold it down, similar to my issues with Code Geass.

- The show loses it's urgency after the third episode, as there are literally no casualties among the Earth party (of people that we know, hell even the death of a single side character would have been enough) up until the last two episodes. Oh wait...

- I don't think Inhao is horrible (my interpretation being that he is autistic, thus his social awkwardness and apparent lack of personality), but he ABSOLUTELY needed more development, more than the fraction we saw during his moments with the Princess. The novel says that he threw rocks at the kids who bullied him in school, which if used in the anime could have given more insight. Anything really. We're not even given an explanation as to his reaction to his parent's death (or his sister's reaction).

- My other problem is that Inhao is the ONLY character in the Earth party who gets the spotlight during the battles. Inhao isn't a genius; nothing he thinks up is because he is super smart, he just payed attention in class and thought before he fought. It would have been cool to see Marito getting his revenge on the Martians and leading the charge or coming up with a plan to fight the enemy, but instead all the other characters remain in the background.

- The factions: I understand the idea behind the federation being crippled by the lack of a communications network with which to coordinate, thus the lone-ship idea works. However, we don't really get to feel like the main band is a group of survivors in desperate need of allies and supplies, nor really get to know anyone there. The Vers Empire never actually feels like a warring nation or even a group of people; we never meet servants running the castles, the generals planning their strategies, engineers who maintain the Kataphrakts or any semblance of an administrative government (so... how are the nobles going to reign over their territories? They don't have any advisers or policemen...), and ultimately feels like a collection of named people in suits with super robots who claim to be apart of a country that we never see. When half the story follows this side, that's a let down.

- The rivalry between Slaine and Inaho could have been executed way better; their meeting in episode 6/7 (been a while since I've seen it) feels awkward, and so is the buildup to the season finale. The ending would have worked better (in my opinion) if Slaine and Inhao had been following each other's movement but not meet each other until the final battle in Saazbuum's castle (similar to Kiritsugu and Kirei). Slaine identifies Inhao as the one who had (from his perspective) taken the Princess prisoner, and shoots him out of jealously. Inhao identifies Slaine as the Princess' unrequited lover, and relishes in rubbing "I won" in his face before he faces the bullet.

- The season finale had no consequences; everyone apparently survived a spaceship CRASHING AT TERMINAL VELOCITY into a solid piece of indestructible castle, the strike team who stayed behind the door to the Aldnoah chamber to protect Asselyum survived the Bolivian Army Ending, and everyone who was shot in the finale survived as well, thus shattering the idea that there were stakes.

- The ending: Aoki's version was far more impactful than the one we got.

Aoki’s initial idea for the character storylines was to have both Inaho and Slaine become increasingly isolated from the people around them because of their devotion to Asseylum, which probably connects to the ending where they “fall to Earth and live on quietly in some corner of the globe.” However, he was told that this would be way too dark for TV, so Inaho’s character arc evolved into what it is now.

I actually loved the first season. However, the second season was quite bad, as it made all the efforts of the first season in vain. It suffered from a huge identity crisis, especially Slaine, who pledged full allegiance with Mars, out of no reason, and the series started falling apart from there.

Aldnoah Zero started off with a decent plot and story. It very quickly turned into stupidity. Like the Terran fighting with VERS. He is all about killing VERS to save the princess, then he just decides that's not it anymore... So she is shot. The problem the show has is simple, the writers begin with a story line and frustrate it to create emotional connection, but they fail to finish those independent narratives leaving the viewer pissed off and disappointed. Also, some characters have no emotion which is fine, but then again some have way too much... It becomes annoying when they argue over stupid shit in the middle of a battle... It's pointless and is a drag on the show.

1) Assassination - A single person that represents entire civilization (with superior tech) is escorted by 4 cars.
2) What was princess mission again? - Was she planning to "say nice words" to Terran's and go home lolz? was she on her way from airport towards Japanese government office or something lol?
Shouldn't her visit be like an "even of the century!"? When the entire world is watching the event, world leaders are expected to attend the speech (thus there should be ridiculous amount of guards around!
3) Are Terran's retarded? - Yes, obviously.
A V.I.P is visiting the earth while Martians literally surround the planet with super tech. How obvious is it that princess is like a keg filled with gunpowder - ready to explode with a single spark. No precautions, no countermeasures, no negotiations, dialogues. As the "war" begins, Terran's spam battlefields with tech they SHOULD know is outdated (like jet fighters). No nukes are ever used lol, I'm certain no Martian castle could absorb a freaking nuke! Overall, Terran arsenal is S##T and it feels like No country on earth developed a better mech or a "futuristic" weapon.
4) OP as F main character - This guy is literally a knight in a shining plot armor. He is smarter than anyone around. He's the most skilled pilot, despite being a rookie. He knows how to do anything; never loses his cool; confident as if he knows the script lol. Apart from all this, he seems to be the ONLY human who can fight with Martians and win! Nobody else all over the globe can do the same. He's the Terran's last hope and ultimate weapon!
5) Annoying support - a) MC's sister - couldn't SHUT her mouth and kept "lecturing" mc, every time he was about to do OP things and be useful unlike other cannon fodder characters. b)Lieutenant drunk guy with PTSD - just die already...did he died in the end? be useful once and die! c) loli martian - princess...oops, princess...oops, princess.... somebody shut her stupid mouth already! And i LOL'D when she was driving a hummer, wtf? d) Emo martian girl - hoodie is my only friend...F##K the world, cry, cry more...
6) Stupid bad guys - Emperor is a stupid old geezer and is useless (him declaring war as it had already started makes him even more ridiculous; plus it seems no one gives shet about his opinions); Martian bad guys are all jusy morons with 0 brains yet fancy toys - the end.
7) Season 2
= forced cliffhanger.

At least series wasn't one of those: and then MC finds that one OP mech that was hidden or only he can pilot and stuff.
