I recently finished Hellsing Ultimate and it was fantastic almost flawless. My only real problem is how powerful Seras becomes after drinking Bernadotte's blood. She just rips through a dozen nazis who have been vampires for 50 years as well as professional soldiers and even kills their leader who was pretty strong. I thought that age and amount of blood consumed determined a vampires strength, which means she should be fairly weak by comparison. Is it just because Alucard turned her?

All Millenium vampires were not true vampires at all, they were artificial monsters, created by Doc, who only had bones of an ex-vampire as samples to work on. So basically they were poor man's bootleg vampires, full of imperfections. Most of them were afraid of the sunlight (all cannon fodder Last Battalion troops had to put on gasmasks before the dawn in episode 8), also they had no power to absorb and use souls (pretty much every Millenium vampire except for Walter had no idea what was going on every time Alucard would pull off a soul trick of a kind), also all their victims would turn into ghouls, we saw exactly zero new vampires turned by Millenium soldiers.
Additionally they were not vampires for 50 years, presumably Doc's researches were only complete right before episode 1 kicked in, so they were just Nazis who escaped justice to live incognito in South America, turning into old men in wheelchairs when 50 years later Major appeared and offered them to become young once again and relive "joys" of their long lost youth once more, those "joys" being war of cause. In episode 4 you can see Major only ordered to turn private soldiers and lower officers while higher-ups got slaughtered while staying humans of an old age right there hours before the beginning of the whole London attack operation. Also if Millenium had 1000 vampires 50 years ago, don't you think they would have used them during WW2? The point is, Millenium had none back in the day. Their biggest achievement during WW2 era was a bunch of half-backed artificial ghouls, also Alucard and Walter infiltrated their laboratory and burned everything to the ground before those ghouls were of any practical use.
The only true monster Millenium had was Captain, but he was not a vampire, he was a werewolf.

Ok that makes sense then. Thanks for clearing that up. I was wondering why they had those gas masks on too but thought it was just aesthetic
