| Makoto Shinkai's blog announced at the end of last year that he is working on a new movie. The director spent New Year's Eve drawing storyboards and said he hopes the new film will be more fun, more beautiful, and that it will surpass his other works (Kotonoha no Niwa, Byousoku 5 Centimeter, and more). | Even if the story sucks (doubt it), at least it will look frigging amazing. Also it seems like he might be moving away from the "heartbreak" movies he's well known for.. maybe a completely happy story this time.. we'll see. |
| I thought this was old news? I remember reading something about him focusing only on this project for 2015. Might just be making it up though, good news regardless I guess though, he has come a long way. |

| Yeah, the post is a month old. We were quite late on posting this. It seems some users still weren't aware of the news though, and since Makoto Shinkai is very popular (ranked #22 on MAL) it's nice for them to know. I hope the text is more clear now that it's an older blog post and that there is no information about its release yet. Thanks for your help :) |
| In another translation I read, they made it pretty clear that the movie won't come out until 2016 probably. Also, his movies usually come out once every 3 years. |

| 5cm/s was great, Garden of Words was visually better than 5cm/s, but the story wasn't that good. If this new movie looks better than Garden of Words and have a decent story then eveything's good. |
| I will definitely be checking this out. Although I don't usually really, really enjoy his works, I appreciate the depth he puts into them. And all of his works have amazing animation that I can't get enough of :) |
