hiya,

i just found out about terra formars. and decided to join MAL because terra formars is pretty epic and entertaining.

id like to ask senpai-tachi here what's the closest anime to terra formars that you could recommend to me?

the points i like in terra formars are

- anime where the main charas beat the S out of the enemies

- hard-hitting, fluid animation

- good pacing, it doesn't feel drag out.
again like above, in 1 or 2 episodes the characters can overcome their gokiburi opponent battles. (the opposite of this is dragon ball z, where it felt a little drag out.)

- the one-sided super-powered characters
even if the gokiburi gave the charas some challenge for narrative tension, in the end the humans win with the combination of their personality traits and powers quick enough.

- this is optional, but the characters doesn't look like they are 12 years old

Any Battle Royale-style MANGA. This format doesn't work for 13 episodes anime, hell even 25 is too little.

oddly, i dislike battle-royale manga in general... the twist on terra formars is there is a sense of unity (and strength in confidence turned into desperations) on the teams against overwhelming evil.

battle-royale manga are usually pitting humans against other humans, each with their own stories and agendas. not interesting to me because i have to choose who to root.

on terra formars i can root for everybody

If you are not scared away from older anime, because of the "dated animation" that so many newer anime fans complain about, there are actually two series that very strongly resemble this story.

First up is Guyver/Bio-boosted Armor Guyver/Kyoushoku Soukou Guyver. It has the augmented human verses monster story, and the original show only lasted 12 episodes.
Original series: http://myanimelist.net/anime/6016/Kyoushoku_Soukou_Guyver_(1989)
Sequel series: http://myanimelist.net/anime/1336/Kyoushoku_Soukou_Guyver_II
Modern reboot, which covers much more of the story, and varies from the original series in many ways:http://myanimelist.net/anime/1374/Kyoushoku_Soukou_Guyver_(2005)
There is also an OVA that predates the series: http://myanimelist.net/anime/2293/Kyoushoku_Soukou_Guyver

Secondly, Blue Gender is the closest to Terra Formars' humans verses bug story, albeit on a larger and more explored scale. http://myanimelist.net/anime/58/Blue_Gender

Whoops, almost forgot a movie from the 90s, Bio Hunter; good story, well animated, augmented human hunting down monsters. http://myanimelist.net/anime/1269/Bio_Hunter

If you liked the story and concept of Terra Formars, I highly recommend checking these out.

tl;dr: Check out shows "Guyver" and "Blue Gender" and movie "Bio Hunter"
