That last line pretty much confirmed that Kaori's gonna die soon. I bet saving Kousei's piano career is the number spot in her bucket list.

That head judge needs to fuck off. Right or wrong, the kid's 15 man. At least this Hiroko girl seems to know how to treat young teenagers. I bet she harbors some guilt as well, as she is technically what resulted in Kousei's pain, albeit indirectly and of course unintentionally. Her kid is cute. Kousei didn't advance, but that was pretty predictable. As sad as it was to see Aiza treat Kousei like that, I can understand where he is coming from. Watching your idol perform so miserably would be heartbreaking to anyone. Maybe he actually realizes that there wasn't much Kousei could have done there. It took a bit for Kousei to feel frustrated there, but it finally happened. Did she pass out on the bed because of her illness? Kousei should have taken Hiroko up on her off ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°). New drinking game, take a shot for every different language Kaori speaks in. Looks like this time Kousei has got himself a decent teacher. Maybe she will teach it right this time. I honestly thought Kaori was jumping into the river again. I don't like that foreshadowing at the end, D:

This anime has a very therapeutic effect.
I think hearing things like, "we're on a journey" and seeing Kousei have so many ups and downs... I feel like I need that right now.
Sure, it's cliche to a certain degree, but this anime sure is very consistent. If anything, I can appreciate it for what it is and understand why some people rate it high.

As I said in previous episodes, I'm glad that at least, Emi received some proper character development because Takeshi idolizing Kousei just because he heard him performing once is really lame. And by the way... a cartoon hero? what? are you 5?

So, is Seto the person who was with Kousei's mother when she started beating him up in public and didn't do anything?

Average episode overall.

Kousei has indeed changed. I liked how Aiza and Emi were surprised, with Emi seemingly more charmed than Aiza.

I like Hiroko already. Seems like she feels some guilt over being the one encouraging Kousei's mom to bring him to play the piano. But she seems like a really nice person and I hope Kousei gets at least one stable parent figure in his life, since it seems his dad is almost always absent and his mom was abusive. I hope he gets to rely on her, maybe like a mother.

That scene at the end with the fireflies was beautiful. I was on the edge of my seat guessing whether he was going to say it or not. And he did. "It was you." Damn, that was really beautiful. I loved that scene so much.

But then...

"You know, I'm not always going to be around to help you."

It seems I need to prepare my heart for quite a heartbreak at the end. I know what's coming, but it doesn't make it any easier.

Yup, Kousei gets a mentor@parent figure with Hiroko, he definitely needs one with his mother gone and father nowhere to be seen

Kousei's basically confessed to Kaori, good job man! Such a shame she raises death flags with every scene

Feel like this is the end of the first arc, well it's the end of episode 11 so it's only normal. But man, I'm not looking forward to the 2nd cour/arc. I don't want to cry.

Indeed, more and more it's looking like Kaori has a serious or incurable illness. I wonder when she will reveal what she has to her friends or when they will find out.

This boy needs to stop relying on others so much, especially attaching his love to terminally ill. That's a certain way to get deeply hurt inside.

I get the feeling part, but I don't get why do you still want to become someone's only light? This boy needs some serious help(preferably some good mother/father figure), when he loses another light, wouldn't he just go numb again?(Damn, that's a lot of accident Linkin Park references)
How can you be so sure that someone like Arima will become strong enough to bear all of the stuff by himself? He is like a moth that always follows the light, even after he becomes blinded by it. What if light goes out while moth is still following something that is already not there?

Honestly, his parents are the problem. His mother got the boy attached to the only skill he has while the boy himself attached the skill to his mother's happiness. And where the hell is Arima's father?
I hate everyone equally

Honestly, it would be way healthier for Tsubaki and Arima to be together, they have similar issues, but I guess they prefer playing family members and keep their problems to themselves.

We got to see Kousei sort of come into his own this episode and it was a nice surprise to see Kaori allow Kousei to actually make the choice this time to accompany her
Speaking of Kaori, when she goes home, there's a sign with her name on it spelt "Kawori"
Is that how it's spelt..? I remember there was a similar thing that happened in Spy x Family but that was because the mangaka changed his mind halfway through the manga

C'mon Hiroko - san, why did you ask Kousei why he took up piano again. C'mon sensei we all know the answer to that.

P.S If anyone reading doesn't know the answer, simple the power of pvssy. That's the real power woman have over us guys. Many great achievements through human history have been made thanks to the power of pvssy

Hiroko is awesome, I liked the way she handles Arima. Arima admires Miya and want gain attention and respect from her as a fellow musician. He seeks her as a role model and supporting encouragement for his career. Miya played a major role in his comeback and his friends too supported him. He is not a human robot, he is a human who has feelings to express too.

I liked the plot and how it conveys feelings and touches each and every corner of that feeling. Music has a special power of healing.

Arima knows that he lost. It might be a setback, but he found a new purpose in playing the piano. He reconnected with his mom's friend and asked her to mentor him. She calls him 'Mr Mediocre' but she is actually calling him bonsai, as in the miniaturised / dwarfed plants.

The episode ended with firefly scenes with Arima confessing. The scene is similar to how Kenshin said goodbye to Kaoru before he left for Kyoutou. Too bad, she is giving hints to her unfortunate fate.

Oh no... The foreshadowing is strong. If Kaori will die then I can kind of guess what the "lie in April" will be. I'm already tearing up.

If I'm right I've gotta start looking for the next anime that has a happier ending to survive this one.

Edit: I knew it...
