Anyone Else Find Themselves Rooting for Kyoto?

I know they're supposed to be the "bad guys", but some of the characters are just so relatable and likable imo.

Midousuji is clearly the most talented cyclist who's more or less carrying his entire team. He can beat Onada at climbing, won vs Hakone's fastest sprinter, would've beaten both Hakone and Sohoku's aces if it hadn't been for his leg cramping (likely as a result of carrying his team and winning the past 2 stages), and is a brilliant strategist. Also has a tragic past. Seems to have a strange attitude due to past bullying.

Ishigaki is a nice guy; loves his team and works very hard and tried to ease Onada when he saw that he was nervous. Also willing to sacrifice his pride and rank for the greater good (having his team win). Seems to be not bad at being an assist too. Was clearly shaken up when he had to abandon his friends.

And now to Mizuta . Mizuta, Mizuta, what can I say about Mizuta... he's like a little brother that looks up to and tries to imitate his big brother/idol. First he changes his hair to match Ishigaki, then he changes it again and gets braces to look like Midousuji. Really kind of reminds me of Mini-Me. Kind of cute tbh haha.

Plus they have a badass uniform ;)

I have to agree, Midosuji's back story in particular was pretty emotional and well done.

Actually, the reason why I still like this show is Midosuji, he's one of the most interesting characters I ever seen in a sports anime!
I was rooting for him in the first day of the race, and when he challenged Shinkai.

Like it's been said above, Midousuji is the only reason I'm still watching this. He pulls a team of average nobodies and does everything within reach to win against 2 super-favorite teams.

There are other enjoyable characters, but if it wasn't for his ridiculous antics the interhigh would've been terrible until now. It's disappointing since all the build-up for the interhigh and introduction of characters was good, but it just ended up awfully predictable and boring except Midousuji. And well I was almost putting the show on-hold atm but since he didn't give up at the end of the 2nd day I'm guessing he'll still have some spotlight.

That's what I love about sports anime. Even the "bad guys" can be rooted for unlike battle anime where they probably went around killing people.
