I can understand where Noriko is coming from, but it still irritates me every time she tells Joe to quit boxing.

Wtf man, Carlos had to retire too.
Poor Joe, but he seems a lot stronger now.
I wonder who will he fight against, because nobody wants to fight him.

Damn I knew there had to be some kind of aftermath when Carlos felt down the stairs at the end of episode 12.

Joe is truly the shinigami of the boxing world and no one within Japan wants to fight him. As a result it seems like he's going for the world now.

The conversation with Noriko was so powerful. Of course she wants him to quit boxing after she saw what happened to other boxers, but for Joe it's something that gives his life purpose and this has to be respected. Just hope he won't end like his former rivals, tho.

rofl, Joe's streak just never ends, to Wolf and Rikiishi now we have to add Carlos to the list of victims, poor man.

I get Noriko's words but it still annoys me when she says to him to quit boxing, staph!

Damn Joe why you have to go through all of these just because you love to box.
And that quote was one of the best once that I have ever heared.

Aaaand.. just as i predicted, that was indeed no ordinary fall. Carlos is crippled. i guess this is the fate of Joe.

"It may be for a moment, but my fire roars up so bright and hot, it's almost blinding. And then, all that remains is pure white ash."

I've read this quote somewhere on the internet prior to watching the show, and it stuck with me every since that time. now that i reached the moment, i like it even more. it neatly describe Yabuki Joe as a person.

Fucking Joe man, I wanted him to be happy for just a few more episodes. And although it sucks what happened to Carlos, it lead to one of the best speeches in the series.

All things aside, Joe's relationship with Yoko continues to be complicated. Once again Joe takes offense at Yoko's niceness. Considering how much effort she puts into aiding Joe so he can move forward, it's kinda sad. At the end of S1, Joe did express his gratitude to her but according to the plot of S2, it didn't happen. I really wonder how they will end up.

Joe and Yohko need to just bang already. That sexual tension in the air so thick you can cut it with a knife. No one can tell me otherwise.

Joe's punch is seriously diabolic, breaks literally everyone that gets hit by it. I feel bad for Carlos and Joe, very unfortunate, but well, such misfortunes are going to keep happening, Joe's punch is just that powerful. I really dislike Noriko, she's just annoying.

"My fire is nothing like those unfulfilled and incomplete combustions that you see everywhere. It may be for a moment, but my fire roars up so bright and hot, it's almost blinding. And then, all that remains is pure white ash. There are no embers left... Just pure white ash"

Wow...just wow
That was the best quote that I've ever heard in any anime.

It seems like Yoko's problem here is she's trying to revive the good-old-days with Rikiishi and Joe. While Joe is trying to move forward, Yoko is trying to revive his flame with with methods he views as underhanded. I don't think Yoko's intentions are necessarily malicious, but she's at least not going through all this out of benevolence.

Fighting with consequences. It is very sad knowing that Carlos wanted this and it is also not Joe's fault neither

Also the series's greatest quote appeared in this episode

Well fak, from a state of euphoria to absolutely broken again.
I've never seen the famous quote before but it definitely describes Joe really well.

He only ever feels alive in the boxing ring, whenever he's fighting with all he's got, his entire being, for him it is the only way to truly live.

It'll be good for Joe to set his eyes on a new goal to work towards, that person will be Jose Mendoza it seems.

Obviously if Joe were persuaded by Noriko's words, then we'd have way worse anime. That said, I think I agree with her. Why would anyone want to burn so brightly that they only leave pure white ash behind? It's a common dream among men, even if typically expressed in less poetic words, but it's also insane. Is that pretty flame really worth your life?

I knew Carlos wasn't gonna win after taking that much damage from Joe, but damn, that's just cruel.
