| Now that this is more centred around Tohsaka, I'm beginning to like her a LOT more. Her playfulness and teasing is quite adorable. Not to say I didn't like her prior to FSN-UBW, but I just didn't really care much for her. |

| It's interesting so hee how fast haters are with their 1/5 every time a new episode is released. They sure are trying their best. Also, saying that fans of the VN like this episode just because it's F/SN is total bs. With that logic we should be viewing DEEN's adaptation as some masterpiece as well, just because it's Fate. The pacing was good because they adaptapted exactly the right amount of material, and it's all very relevant to the story. |

| Well, they are just straight up killing this so far. Really liked how the infodump was handled here, with the shots of Saber looking at Archer while he is on top of the Church and Rin just making herself at home and asking Shirou if he wanted Tea in his house. Also, like the subtle clinching of the fist that Kirei had when talking about the War 10 years previously. Favorite moment is the hand shake, though. I like to think of Saber saying it was "unexpected" as a sort of nod at the frustration some viewers may have had in the first series or during the Fate route, though it happened in the VN as well. Either way, the handshake highlights one of the key differences in UBW: Shirou welcoming Saber as his servant. And, oh boy, I've been fairly vocal about how I am looking forward to the next episode. Should be pretty sweet. |

Also, the normal chess pieces seem to represent the Masters, the Servant chess pieces obviously the Servants. |

Or at least I think so. Anyway, I have always been a fan of dialogue heavier shows and this one is a perfect blend of that and action!! Ok, enough hype, 5/5. |

Nice infodump episode for people who are skipping the awful Studio DEEN adaptation. I'm just sad that Dat cliffhanger with Berserker and Ilya showing up to own some face. I don't think you need to use spoiler tags for something that happens during the episode, guys :P Also, dat Rin ass. Such a tsundere. :P Next episode's going to be an awesome battle animated with the usual ufotable quality I'm sure. Mod Note: Major plot spoiler removed. |

| Thoughts: * Everything's pretty faithful so far, which is great. * Who the hell gets on all fours out of frustration? I love Rin, but that was some pretty weird fan service. This kind of thing doesn't quite fit the franchise imo. I'd rather see something more subtle. * The pendant scene was a very nice touch. I hope they keep on paying attention to these small things. * Finally, Kotomine Kirei! * They could have made the "Yorokobe, Shounen" more personal/epic imo. * The soundtrack has been pretty solid so far. As a regular viewer, I wouldn't complain about it. But why no church on the hill? It would have been awesome. * While everything about the war has to be explained, the locations could have been more varied. I think they spent too much time at Shirou's place and the church. Perhaps they could have discussed some of the important stuff on their way to the church while we saw more of the city from different angles. * I thought they were going to finish this episode with the berserker fight, so I'm not sure if I liked the ending that much. But they did make it pretty ominous this way. * I wonder what other people think of berserker. Ever since I saw his preview, I thought he could have been somewhat taller. * I'm surprised at how cynical my episode analyses have been - aside from the prologue. I realize now that looking at episodes individually is quite different from looking at them as a part of a series. Small things like the way an episode ends doesn't matter much in the long run, only while the series is airing. |
