I can't believe I didn't post here when I first watched this episode.
I'm rewatching this episode again, and I still feel all the goosebumps and emotion that I felt when this aired.
That opening sequence before the opening theme.. was just.. so masterful?
The art was so on point, and the OST blends in so touchingly. I can't help but tear up.
And I loved how this focuses on the 3rd year's development, like I'm so glad they're sticking around. They're just as important and needed as the rest of the team. Especially Kiyoko, I'm so glad she's there too and I'm so excited for her involved in next season too!
It's nice to be watching this knowing full well that there's a 2nd season happening in Fall. I'm so glad!
AND CAN I JUST SAY, I'M SO GLAD YAMAGUCHI GETS A GOOD AMOUNT OF FOCUS IN THIS EPISODE? He didn't get the intended backstory that he does in the manga, and I've accepted that he might not. But I'm so glad they're not gonna let him fade into the background.
AND the fact that we get Aoba Josai closure/plot too just really solidifies this series' bittersweet tendencies. You wanna root for everyone, but then not everyone can win, and even the winners will have their downfalls.
The ending made me so hopeful the first time I watched it, and I feel the same now too.
I can't wait for season 2.

I want to know when the second season is coming because it did end with a cliffhanger where Shoyou Hinata just spiked the ball and I rate the 10/10

That bit Makoto said, "Man... How many hours did I practice just for this one shot? If I can savor this one shot, this one moment, again, I can survive those tough practices," just really got to me for some reason. I'm all over here trying not to let that water drop.

The yelling scene was a little dramatic, but at the same time, I understand completely. I understand their feelings, their loss, their wish to win. I think that scene illustrated their feelings very well.

I loved the character interactions in this show; I didn't feel that anyone important was terribly one-dimensional. I really enjoyed the development as well. Of course, I appreciate the ending's bit where it's pretty much showing how this anime went from point A to point Z quite nicely. Sure, some flubs here and there, but overall, this was a really great show. I had been putting it off thinking, "Another sports anime my friends want me to get into (though I got into KnB on my own)", but I'm glad someone finally got me into their house and made me watch the first episode.

I'm also really happy that there really wasn't any special power type of things going on. I don't mind Kuroko's at all, but knowing that most of these characters got o where they are through just... skills that the average person can achieve made this anime so much more intense than one would think. Surprises are genuine surprises and not just because someone suddenly awakened their inner power or something. I like that.

There were some points where I spaced out a little and had to rewind, but for the most part, this show had my attention.

Enjoy your anime! | Witch Cafe Wisteria

That a pretty great and entertaining season. One of the more realistic and less "shounen" sports anime out there. Glad there's a second season coming soon :) Just hoping the quality stays the same and everyone doesn't start getting bs power ups lol.

This series is simply great.

I can't believe they lost against Seijoh, I really don't. I thought they'd conclude the ending with Karasuno winning the match, and continue the rest of the tourney against Shiratorizawa in the second season. As much as the defeat damaged their morale, it boosted them.

Also, I don't know how to feel about the third years choosing to stay. I of course am happy that we'll watch them play in the spring again, but they didn't exactly specify what they were going to do about their futures. Are they just negelecting it? Either way I'm more than glad they choose to continue the sport.

Hyped for the spring inter-high in the second season. 9/10

7/10 show for me but i wont be back for season 2. i really dont like any of the characters and they cry far too often for my taste.

they show soo many feelings in every single episode and i simply cant sympathize with them. the first time i have this problem watching a sports show.

also the sport itself isnt that fun to watch for me like basketball, soccer, football and baseball .

Undeniably this is a good show but not really my thing.

More or less how I feel, though I liked Nishinoya at least and I'll probably watch season 2 when it comes out.

Not trying to start a debate on which is better or anything, but I decided to watch this solely based on how much I ended up enjoying Kuroko even though I'm not a sports fan at all. However, this just didn't have the addictiveness about it for me. Despite having all the episodes available for binge watching right from the start, I didn't watch more than two or three at once and sometimes I wouldn't watch the show for days. Not sure if it was the characters or if it's as simple as finding basketball more interesting than volleyball. 7/10

Quoting myself because I just re-read season 1's plot in the manga adaption, and I have to say.. the anime really did a fantastic job with the opening sequence/scene of this episode. It just hits so hard, and is much more effective at bringing the bittersweet feeling across. I need to stress how well the anime enhances the manga, in some instances it even surpasses the manga.

Just over a week until season 2 starts!

Tests are overrated, I didn't have to study for mine, so if anything the whole exams/future thing was exaggerated.

As a final, never quite predictable in its narrative intentions, however it is able to convey the thoughts that go well in the minds of the protagonists. It assumes that the final episode of left the door open for a second season. Great characters, I hope that in the second season there may be a further growth of the collective. drawings and animations always top quality, as well as for the soundtrack.

I started watching this anime, 2 or 3 days ago and i am Finally done watching the 1st season.. the series was so funny.. the story reminded me a lot about Kuroko no Basket.. it was very predictable on whats going to happens next whether they will lose or win.. it was very Kuroko but the characters of this anime are very funny and easy to like.. and it was fun watching them.. i rated it 9/10..

P.s. I want to see the sides of manager and the teacher too.. somehow, i get this feeling that he is the LITTLE GIANT?? hehe..

First half was a bit boring but it had a good character development and some funny moments, Second half was much better because of the interesting matches they had.

The animation is great, good art, good sounds, enjoyable, very good characters, good story.

One of the best sport anime shows.

Great series.

At first I expected some kind of one man show where Hinata just gets insane and carries his team game after game, yet a lot of characters had their own stories with all playing their part

Characters are amazing.
Especially Hinata&Kageyama and Nishinoya.

I wasnt blown away by it,honestly cannot tell why this series is regarded so high when its pretty much on equal footing with other titles like Ace of Diamond or Ookiku Furikabutte. And that's not a criticism ,just a observation.I guess the smooth animation and art style helps.

While it did check out all the right spots,as far as sports series are concerned,I didn't like how the matches were very "fragmented" with countless reactions shots and needless over-explanations of everything that's happening. But I guess that a staple of sports series in general.
Wasn't a big fan of Hinata as a MC ,but he wasnt terrible by any means.Team dynamics were good though, and it was fun to watch them interact with each other ,although the constant banter does get old after a while.
