Another cliffhanger. She better eat that dish like the way she is instructed to. It doesn't look good though. In fact, it probably tastes like shit.

My first response when I saw it and how the kids referred to it as "-san" made me think cannibalism. I don't know though, that was weird as hell regardless.

Was there some hidden message I didn't get? It was a bit creepy but again not scary at all. I'm pretty disappointed with this season so far.

Cannibalism? Pretty weird stuff. I kind of understand her being freaked out.

I wish I could understand better what was going on... Is it some kind of addiction? What did that thing come from? It's difficult to understand the story without knowing these things...

Loved it how it was so super serious while the story was about living addictive food.
Also the man at the beginning sounds unenthusiastic each episode more.

This was the weirdest, but probably the least scariest episode so far. I like it, but thought it was kind of silly, too. But whatever that stuff was, it was gross.

I haven't thought of cannibalism.. but that might have the case. Not a particularly scary episode, just weird.
note to myself: don't eat purple glowing food.

This is one of those episodes that doesn't make sense in such a short form. I have suspected cannibalism, as well. Then again. How would we know? If the episode were longer, we'd suspect something like that if people went missing. If the dish was served only in the school, we'd suspect a cult culture. But it's the entire town. And who's that woman? That wasn't her mother, was it? If so, how was she down with the purple meat and not her daughter?

I guess that's the point of this show--to leave us speculating.

Well that was kinda... odd. Those eating sound effects were pretty gross too. So is this like a cannibalism or is this just one of those foods that cause people to go crazy with addiction?

This episode is another fantastic reason why this is one of my favorite horror series.
Very little is explained regarding the point of tension, that being the Ominie-san, but there are enough hints and subtleties that allow us to arrive at our own, often frightening, conclusions.

I'm guessing Ominie-san was a person and the towns folk slaughtered her and started to eat her :L

I thought the same, even thought they were going to eat her if she'd continued to refuse eating ominie.

I was eating when I watched this episode... that was a bad idea >_>

"5 out of 5: Loved it!"

I don't think this is a simple cannibalism story. I think there's something of a ghost story behind here where other people are somehow affected or they're all "something else". Or it's just unexplainable, evil. Moving flesh is an indication to this. Some things are better when they stay mysterious. It can be really good if you have some imagination. But I'd like a better ending for sure.

False. How did they eat it in the first place then?

Gross, but not scary. Last episode was a little better.

Does "ominie" have a meaning or is it a random name/word?

It seems a little incomplete...
I gather the meat is from the previous female teacher the main character is replacing, in Polish Ominie means 'Miss'.
The meat must be cursed to move like that after cooking though...
Native Americans believe in Wendigos that were human until they became cannibals and then went crazy and disturbed looking.
Bottom line, I would not even, just no.

The main character called the Woman either her aunt or grandmother (obasan is aunt abaasan is grandma and I haven't taken enough Japaness to be good at distinguishing long and short vowels) the version I watched didn't sub that though. According to the Wikipedia page it's her aunt.

I don't know why people said it's not scary. It's probably one of the most disturbing episodes in the past two seasons. I know cannibalism is an overused trope in horror stories, but I like it far better than some ghosts or spirits, since cannibalism actually exists in real life.

I'm gonna be a total loser and say that I love this ep! And here's something interesting I figured out.

I got curious about what the name could potentially mean, like maybe it's a pun or something. I trust DeepL with a lot of Japanese translations, but I also ran it thru other translators just to make sure.

On DeepL, when I got rid of the character that would indicate 'n' (that character being 'ん'), I got the following possible translations: "Food for thought", "Food for the soul", "A gift for you".

On Google Translate, trying the same thing nets me a simple translation of "Food". When I tried Naver, it translated into "Old man", without me taking away that character. Taking away the 'n' gives me "Miniature food". Yandex gave me "oh, my god." when I took away 'ん'.

What I think might have happened here is that the food itself is possessed, and causes the people in the town to become addicted to eating it. Even if it's disgusting and looks horrific, they're influenced by it once it's first ingested. Otherwise, I don't see how the teacher could go from being absolutely repulsed and horrified of it to ravenously hungry for more of it.

Where did you get that from? I'm a Polish native speaker and ominie is a different form of ominąć, which means "to omit".
