Kirito is on a whole other level, but I just can't watch properly a show with a main character who just has the same poker face no matter what. Real life doesn't have such people and it just seems stupid most of the time in Aldnoah. It feels soooo unnatural I can't even explain it. I mean Yuki Nagato is understandable, but Idaho is not. There are tons of smart characters + having emotions. |

Because your counter examples are all extreme strawmen and do nothing to show how it makes Inaho at all a better and more interesting character. It's a stupid argument like most of the ones that get made on this site. Inaho is easily one of the least developed and least interesting mecha protagonists I've seen come out of the genre after a show is almost half way over. It's kind of insane how much they've clung to this whole emotionless combat robot role for the character. I just don't see how you can possibly look at the character with anything resembling intelligent critical thinking and say boy this is such a great refreshing and interesting character to watch every week. I don't even get how people can think to pull the whole tough guy act commentary in defense of him either because it's not like he's this resounding example of manliness either, he just literally has no personality or character to speak of and is a tool of the plot to make sure there's something resembling a fight being put up and so that the show can keep having battles. I also know what a stoic character is and have seen plenty examples of it before including in this genre, Inaho is still just handled poorly even though that's what they are trying to go for. He also still can't pass the Red Letter Media test 11 episodes in. |
