I wonder how the sales will be affected when Nanatsu no Taizai begins airing soon. I'm hoping it raises. And good to see Haikyu and Yowamushi Pedal in the top 10.

Meh for the LN rankings. I hope My Romantic Comedy SNAFU raises a bit.

Well the adaptation is horrible, but the final content is still appealing, even though it could be a lot of times better. With that, people watching the anime will want to see the manga, and when they see the manga they will want to keep reading, because it is that good.
The same happened with Kingdom, also made by Pierrot, also with an horrible adaptation, but it still had a very good boost, even tough I would hope for a way bigger boost.

I'm still wondering why Akame ga kill isn't getting any boost though. The adaption is much more faithful to the manga than tokyo ghoul anime. It seems the anime adaption has fail since it doesn't seem like it's getting any boost in manga sales.

That can be seen in the Top 500 daily manga rankings. Unfortunately this one doesn't says the copies sold, but only in what position a volume his. Let me see where in the ranking in the last days his volumes appeared.

For example yesterday we have:
Position/Name of series/number of volume
9 Haikyuu!! 12
21 Tokyo Ghoul 12
24 ... 6
25 ... 7
26 ... 11
27 ... 9
28 ...8
29 ...10
33 ...5
36 ...3
37 ...2
38 ...4
40 ...1
42 Haikyuu!! 10
43 ... 9
45 ...11
46 ...8
50 ...7
61 ...6
63 ...4
64 ...1
66 ...2
67 ...5
73 ...3
101 Akame ga Kill 4
107 ... 3
108 ... 5
117 ... 10
120 ... 1
121 ... 6
127 ... 2
136 ... 9
140 ... 8
142 ...7

As you can see is obvious that it has a boost because of the anime, but his volumes in a week must sell around 5k and 10k per volume. The Weekly ranking threshold right now is around 20k so Akame ga Kill volumes will never appear.

Not surprised that Akame ga Kill doesn't make it to the ranking. For a series that doesn't even give a damn for properly developing each characters or building well-constructed storyline, AgK pretty much deserves it.

About Akame ga Kill anime boost. In the day of the first episode his first volume was in position 306, the next day jumped to position 45 and that week got an average of position 60. After that it stabelized around 110.
Nothing like Tokyo Ghoul but a good thing for sure.

Thnx for the info. So it did get a boost but the boost is just not that high like tokyo ghoul. So I guess in terms of hype this series is only hype in the west, or to be more accurate only on mal and a few youtube reviewers.

Sorry, but he is right! I read it and while is entertaining Akame ga Kill would be that kind of series that I would only read in magazine format and not buy the volumes.
Almost everything that happens is for pure and simple shock value but without any depth.

Note: Lately I'm getting pretty irritated with Main Character Harem power. Before I could just ignore it, but lately doing that is not possible.

Call me a random hater or whatever you want, but that's the kind of feelings i've gotten from reading about 30 chapters or so of the series. The poor writing is just obvious; barely developed characters, cartoonish villains, utter lack of meaningful plot, etc. Sure it's good at what it does (over the top shonen actions), but when it comes to proper writing, it's lacking so much.

And to make it clear the only reason SNK will probably pass OP in the annual rankings is because it has more than 4 spinoffs which all count toward the total sales while OP has no spinoffs (I think) :(

Now that I look closely it looks like Shogakukan is the one who counts all the spinoffs, otherwise Magi wouldn't be at 3 million with 2 volumes :(
Either way, I wouldn't put it past them to count them all up anyway just to beat OP :)

-_- Dude! The spin off manga doesn't count in the overall sales for any main manga series. The spin off manga sells separately from the main series.

Magi has over 20 volumes I don't know why it's so hard for you to believe that the series couldn't make 3 million. Please no more bullshit from you.

Don't forget that different authors are making the spin off series meaning they would want to know how much it sells.

So don't worry no series is getting any additional boost from spin off series, so you can breath easy now. Although attack on titan still is going to be #1 coming at the end of the year. :P

I'm talking about the Shogakugan publishers and Magi isn't getting the big boosts SNK is getting anymore so there goes that, which leaves what? :O spinoffs

And with no spinoffs included for SNK, OP still has a chance depending on it's next volume :(

btw what you see in the weekly manga sales is the top 50 manga sales not the top 500 manga sales so magi older volumes are selling it's just that you're not seeing them.

The series doesn't need to have snk boost to sell over 3 million. -_- Naruto is also made over 3 million sales are you going to say it's because of naruto spin off manga that made the sales so high?

SnK is now rivaling OP in average sales per volume??

LMAO! What a joke! attack on titan is nowhere close to one piece sales! One piece sells over 3 million volume average while attack on titan barely scrape over 1 million. Rival my ass!

This is what we call a misinform boy I said it before these people dont know what they are talking about, last week I was attack by attack on titan fanboys just for calling them out. smh.
He has a question mark at the end if you failed to notice--obviously not stating a fact despite the lack of interrogative stimuli.

To answer his question, no. Just as luffyzero said, One Piece sells ~3 million copies per volume.

Stop your BS please :(
I'm talking about the Shogakugan publishers and Magi isn't getting the big boosts SNK is getting anymore so there goes that, which leaves what? :O spinoffs
You are misinformed. No publishers add the spin-offs in the final annual count. Also, spin-offs are fundamentally made because of the popularity of the parent story. Hence, presuming that the spin-offs are boosting the parent story is asinine and illogical. Magi averages ~500k per volume. The manga managing to sell more than 3 million is not an impossibility.

Thnx for the info. So it did get a boost but the boost is just not that high like tokyo ghoul. So I guess in terms of hype this series is only hype in the west, or to be more accurate only on mal and a few youtube reviewers.

Bingo. People have said that repeatedly in the last few threads, about not being able to see any boost for Akame ga Kill because we can only see the Top 50 manga sales every week (but Oricon does count up to rank 500, and the more expensive subscriptions can see sales up to rank 100).

Not to mention that a manga selling 50K per volume is going to find it difficult to get a boost into the Top 50 when the threshold is 20K+.

49 -- *,*19,328 *,*19,328 **1 2 アカメが斬る! 10
30 49 *,*32,886 *,*52,214 **2 - アカメが斬る! 10

Compared to Tokyo Ghoul which was selling multitudes higher than Akame ga Kill, pre-anime. From week 2 and onwards, sales are a bit more comparable. 33K Vol.10 vs 76K Vol.12, which is roughly half the sales for Akame ga Kill. Of course Akame ga Kill will fail to rank after that, as the threshold is more than 20K, if we assume both series has experienced the same boost. Now if we assume every other volume is also achieving the same boost, then the other volumes of Tokyo Ghoul are just hanging on in the Top 50 with ~24K sales, so what makes people think a 12K selling volume for Akame ga Kill has any chance of even charting in Top 50?

And again, I am glad someone has finally realised that Akame ga Kill isn't even popular in Japan. All the hype is in the West.

I doubt the Magi thing, it drops like big a$$ rock after reaching 500 K or so, hell even volume 19 can't be seen anymore, the other volumes must be selling a couple of hundreds only :( which leaves a big gap open ;)

Thnx for the info Ejc, this series had a lot of hype since the announcement of the anime I thought it was already popular series in Japan. Kinda shocking to be honest, I thought Japan love series with a lot of gore in it. I guess the Japanese people are not feeling it, and if it's not selling well in Japan a season 2 will most likely not happen for akame ga kill then.
