| It's not a matter of being famous; there's not enough material for a third season yet. The OVA coming out in November will cover about 90% of Volume 8 (the other 10% was covered in season 2). After that, there's only Volume 9 that's out right now. A season needs at least three volumes of material for 12 episodes, which is what season 1 did. Season 2 tried to cover 5 volumes... tried. It was kind of a mess in that it adapted 2 volumes well, changed the orders of events in 1, and almost completely omitted two volumes (hence why we need the OVA this Nov. to cover one of those skipped volumes). |
| Even if I understand that a company is going to prioritize on what sells rather than what is good, it is still sad to see this series getting a third season.. What's really bizarre is that the light novel is not even that popular (I don't recall it ranking on top 10 "kono light novel ga sukoi"), compared to BD sales. For harem series, there are better plotted ones (DxD etc.), more cute moe ones (see KyoAni et. al), more ecchi ones (To-Love Ru Darkness etc.), more hilarious ones (KoreZombie etc.), and when compared in terms of mecha fight, this series just falls flat. I really had a hard time understanding why this series sells so well. |
