Aika already knew everything and was powerful. Could she destroy the tree in its weakened state? Why wait until it awakened?

There was no tree to destroy when Aika was alive. The tree appeared only later. I don't think you can destroy it without eradicating the main pillar.

Well the core of the tree of Genesis wasn't still around so she couldn't do it so she had to come up with that in order to save the world. Aika was the tragic hero in this drama.

A Story will always come to it's end. The thing is, will you move on after it's over?

Also, Aika cannot do it herself without the willingness (permission) of Hakaze. It must first be decided from Hakaze that the tree must be destroyed. If the events within the anime never occurred, Hakaze would have no reason to go against the tree.
