| Let me make this an announcement: This show has nothing to do with Gai-Rei: Zero! The cameos are just fanservice! They are simply there because the it's the same mangaka for this and Gai-Rei-Zero. Yes, there are other characters, but it doesn't matter these are completely separate stories. |

| I understand the Ga-Rei Zero characters are cameos and all... but what even happens to them during Tokyo ESP? I can see that Yomi and thei special Division is still there, so if Tokyo ESP occurs at the same time, what is happening to the Ga-Rei characters during all this esper invasion? or is it that even though this is the same universe, I should consider Tokyo ESP as non-canon to the Ga Rei story? |
| No, you don't need to see Ga-Rei:Zero before this. The only two things I saw in relation to GRZ are the two MCs being introduced in the beginning (and never heard from again, sadly) and the motorcycle scene. |
