What a surprise to be shown this episode as well! Loved the reference to Oedipus. The images of the wreckage reminded me of 9/11, and the video the terrorists uploaded to the net reminded me of Elliot Rodger from the recent Santa Barbara shooting.

I thought the riddle sucked. It's too common of a riddle (a lot of people I knew already knew the answer and were only annoyed that they pulled a surprise butthole answer to make the situation more intense.

If an original riddle was introduced I would have gave this episode a 5/5, but unfortunately it gets a 4/5. Still love the atmosphere and plot.

I personally loved the riddle because I just took Humanities not too long ago and I loved that class. I forgot about the second story as well so it made it exciting for me. Though it was common, I guess it established the concept behind Sphinx. In addition, it's probably a taste of what's to come. Start out small and simple yet get more complicated later on as the stakes gets higher. Hopefully the riddles get better!

Still can't get over the file named "Special Bonus Message."

Overall, I'm loving Kumi, Twelve, in this episode! From the first part episode and first part of the second episode, he gives the impression of the silly, funny yet cool character. He's able to joke and laugh but he can be so serious. It gives a different vibe from his earlier personality to practically a "scary" death warning to Lisa

Though, I'm pretty new to the anime world/industry and haven't seen a lot of anime so my perspective may seem bleak or impenitent. I do apologize ^o^

Episode 1 continued onto to Episode 2 plot wise. So it's an ongoing storyline.

Anime Expo premiered both Episode 1 and unexpectedly Episode 2 so a very small group was able to see it. I heard Japan Expo also did a premiere for Zankyou. So that's why there's a couple of us chit-chatting about it =w=

I think that was kind of the point. Perhaps it was meant to show how Japan as it is in the show is still relatively ignorant of others' cultures; etc. I think it's in line with the whole "complacency" thing mentioned in some of the summaries.

And it looks like someone got the male leads' names wrong, if Funimation's subtitled trailer is anything to go by.

OST is strong as ever. Loved it.

The episode was pretty good. I find how they did the youtube video to be kinda interesting. Goes to show more of how the terrorists work their way in the world. The riddle itself was also interesting but I wonder how everything connects together in the end. It's sort of like pieces to a puzzle that fits together.

Twelve was pretty funny with his trolling. And we also get another bombing too this episode on a building. I didn't manage to screenshot the aftermath of the towers but one half of is missing now I think ;o

Awesome episode. The riddle was a nice trick.

I'm curious about where the show will be heading now. Surely it won't keep the same formula every week.

These episodes are getting very intense, a riddle with two versions was a good idea by the terrorists. Wonder if Lisa will try to stop the terrorists.

Awesome episode :D Animation and OST are great as usual ^^

I guess they went over the thing most people were bitching about last week with them being able to trace the vid so that was nice to see.

Loved the police meeting. Felt really organized and realistic. Their reactions to VON were awesome XD

And these 2 are just so awesome :D Liked how their name as Spinx was used as a solution to the riddle.

And as expected Shibasaki is BA!! I can't wait til he starts getting more involved >.< I wonder who Nince was waiting for? Is it Shibasaki or someone completely different?

Dat riddle.

Great episode. That riddle they have was just genius. Never would have guess it had two meaning to it. Seems like Hisami doesn't like Lisa to much. Also found out her mother is a little too over protect of. Love how they using this software to hide their IP address. Man this is great. Can't wait for the next episode.

I just love psychological thrillers. So far this anime has been amazing.

Good characters with a promising plot. Stuff like this is uncommon these days.

Nine is awesome, I have no idea how he remained so calm while he was passing by so many police officers.

Those guys from the Public Investigation Bureau are in for ride. Wonder how Shibasaki will play out his role.

Twelve is a cheerful guy, but he can be serious at times.

I feel sorry for Lisa, her mother seems to be insane. Not only that but the bullying at school doesn't help much either. I hope she can settle in with Twelve and Nine, she is an accomplice after all.

At first I thought the riddle was lame "NO ONE CAN SOLVE THAT!?" but they added a spin to it that caught me off guard, so forgiven.

Smart of them to plant cameras and mics in the room to see that they got the riddle wrong, they were intelligent enough to think they would get it wrong, but knew they were not psychic, so they put mics there.

I still wish I got more on their characters, because I want to know their motives because that could honestly make or break the show. Regardless, I like how it focused more on the detectives and police force this episode so that they aren't glorifying terrorists.

A bit convenient though that the police evacuated the office even though there was no known reason to, police don't just drop everything and all leave a building to go somewhere, usually at least some people stay behind to handle things there.

Also not a fan that no fatalities were made from that last episodes bombing. I get that they don't want the main heroes to come off as evil but, come on, we saw debris falling on civilians, someone is bound to get hurt. Oh well.

Good episode. Hoping for more backdrop. This is sort of like a Riddler episode of Batman except centering around commissioner Gordon instead of Batman.

Pretty cool episode, the investigators really jumped the gun on that one, you'd think they'd do a little research first and not just commit everyone to the first possibility. I'm still wondering how Lisa is going to fit into their plans.

Really?

I only knew the 4-2-3 version of the riddle. Not the 2-4-3 version that Nine and Twelve asked.

The 2-4-3 version caught me off guard! The Oedipus story is pretty sad though. Splendid episode!

Absolutely fantastic episode!
I knew both versions of the riddle since I held presentations about Oedipus Rex but the twist was definitely genius since most people just know the 4-2-3 version.
The soundtrack is also getting better and better!
By far the best anime of the summer season.

Didn't know about the alternate version of the riddle. Not much else besides the riddle. However, it's a nice setup for what's to come.

Familiarity with the OST helped me to immerse myself better emotionally for certain scenes. "von" sends shivers down my spines

That was a damn good episode, this series is living up to the hype so far without a doubt. A bomb-ass OST (no pun intended), likable characters and an unknown motive. I am also happy that they don't show previews at the end of the episodes. Excited for next week!

Well in Western but now were talking about Japan and Eastern culture so I don't really think it was that surprising that they didn't know it.

But yeah I also loved the riddle. Maybe it's because I'm a huge fan of Greek mythologies and having some in an anime is a huge plus for me. Also Twelve is still creepy as hell.

Fantastic. Good story and writing, and a fantastic OST and animation. (Hopefully we'll get more stuff like the snowmobile scene in ep 1)

Side note: The program they used to hide their IP actually exists. It's an interesting technology IRL, but is it possible to trace video uploads to an IP when it's not blocked? jw.

yes its actually exist and it does called as Tor.

about tracing IP, basically the cops just need to get court order to get it from the company (google, niconico, etc). But the IP in this case is useless because its from Tor.

man, this is getting more awesome!
Poor Lisa, Twelve looks cheerful but can be creepy at times...
I really love this kind of story, genius masterminds + cops. Reminds me of Death Note somehow. but there's no killing(yet?) in this anime... If someone died it would have been more awesome (my mind is just twisted. lol)
can't wait for the next episode!

Probably one of my top favorite animes this season!

I....just feel bad for Lisa though Q ~ Q, plz treat her better //has sympathy
I really wonder what her role will be in this and Im crossing my fingers its something important!

Instead of her trying to take out 9 and 12, I would rather her just join them xD

Oh nice :D I think I see Yotsubato and Kimi to Boku too!

Oedipus, is it not well-known in Japan? Most of us has heard of the 4-2-3, but the second one was interesting that it was Oedipus himself. Too bad Shibasaki was a little too late, otherwise, they may have been able to avoid the bombing. Although we still don't know these characters well yet, I find them interesting. Especially the way Nine in grinning (creepily) at the end, saying, "Hurry. I'm waiting."

2 points of great interest for me:
plutonium
and Twelve constantly on edge about Lisa and threatening her

I'm trying to visualize what might happen to either one of them by the ending and it's not looking pretty.
