What's wrong with this series actually? :(

Was quite fun IMO, though it would be even better if I didn't watch on a weekly basis.

The themes of the show (Role models, Self-identity. etc) did not appeal to me. The show was unable to emotionally connect with me because of that and, despite the awesome action sequences, I was unable to be emotionally moved by the series.

It was a fantastic show, I'm just sad that I couldn't get into it. :(
(For reference, I gave the show 6/10 which is about 0.5 points above my completed list mean score. So I rated it just above average.)

I felt that this has a lot of similarities to Rideback in how it disappointed me. (Also a great series but its themes of expression and the influence of successful parents did not connect with me.)

Edit - I know it's a very personal/subjective reasoning but it's all I got.

Well, to me, Rideback was more like experimental anime with mecha-bikes, while Canaan really wasn't anything new, just action intented to be fun.

Didn't really bother to find some depth, emotions, and what I know.

Canaan started pretty well, and then got stale quickly as far as I'm concerned.

For all the trouble it goes through to attempt to make a coherent plot, it really doesn't accomplish much other than portraying itself as a relatively mindless action show, and rather, the attempts to develop the plot usually are just confusing.

Well, I really like this series due to the excellent action scenes and the characters.

I enjoyed this series. The art direction/animation was superb and Alphard is awesome lol. I would've preferred Maria and Canaan to be together at the end (not in a yuri way though) but otherwise I thought the ending was great.

People bash this show for being "mindless action"? How about focusing on mindless characters? I mean Maria was practically the main character and she was pretty dense and stupid for a majority of the series. It isn't until the ending that she starts to get more tolerable.

The show was best when it was conspiracies and high octane fights in the streets of Shanghai. When it gear shifted into Maria feeling bad for being saved by Canaan and other things it was just ugh.

What about the clones? The UA virus? The whole back deal with the US and Snakes? What's really good with that Synthesia? What about Canaan's handler? etc etc. All of that seemed to take a backseat to Maria X Canaan and the show suffered.

Reminds me of Fullmetal Panic with the whole highschool and Sosuke and Blue haired bitch relationship thing. The show was best when it was being Tom Clancy meets Gundam. Not Kawaii Days of Our Lives. But that's what dominated unfortunately

I don't think it is too bad, not perfect but perfectly entertaining
