Which is closer to the light novel?

Having watched both the manga and the anime of this series, I've started to notice the storyline in these two follow slightly, if thats the word, different paths. Can anyone who have read the light novel or know what happens in the light novel, tell me which follows it closest, the manga or anime?

The songs are the original, but the LN and Manga each follow a different timeline. So you can't really say what follows what better.

Just like Bengon said they all follow different "routes" that connect themselves into just one story, so none of them "follow" the other.

So you need to read/watch all the medias to fully understand it.
