Also your post made me think of something. The window for turning around this series and hoping for BD sales to increase is rapidly closing. The Summer Cour starts in under 5 weeks, and unless SAO II really stumbles badly out of the gates, the oxygen to re-spark this series will rapidly be consumed by the new season.

Of course if SAO II does stumble (not that much of a stretch, though good animation of the gun fights would secure its win) or Madhouse dramatically picks up its game all bets are off, but short of this happening incremental improvements to this series is not going to help. They really need to pull of something really cool before July.

Your right about that but if MadHouse goes all out with the action and characters it this arc, it will help and increase BD sales. So yeah I pray that MadHouse goes all out and I feel that Aniplex of Japan think's the same. Also since MadHouse is one of my favorite studios I believe they can do it. But time will only tell and I could be wrong.

Well the 2nd and especially the 3rd arc has more action, so we just got to wait and see.

ah, summer coming already, totally forgot about it. I'm looking forward to:
- Akame ga Kill!
- Seirei Tsukai no Blade Dance (If you hate ZnK, avoid this)
- Sword Art Online II

I probably download more, but whether I watch them is base on my mood. Chances are, I might marathon them once they are complete once I have time and am bored.

I'm occupied with reading "Mokushiroku Alice," I actually enjoy the first volume so far. The main char is basically like Accelerator from Toaru Majutsu no Index.

This is why I thought to ask about the art. I think that will be the ultimate key to a turnaround (and I don't think I am going out on a limb in saying as of this moment, this show needs a turnaround), personally for a Madhouse production I am a bit surprised by the art. Of course that is my personal opinion (I like the over pastelization in NGNL but completely get people who hate it), and why I asked for other opinions.

And while I may sound like I hate this series, I don't I do want it to succeed, indeed I think it would be cool to see a show rebound and start to get back fans and generate buzz and watch it rise up the BD rankings after dropping. That is why I am sticking around, I have hope that this could happen.

That said, I really do hate this adaption, to date. But this kind of hate is ephemeral, a couple of excellent episodes in a row would convert me.

well in mahouka, there's a preconception that magician only purpose is to serve the military since magic contribute nothing efficient to the world problem such as solving the power problem.

However, magician magic are use to rescue people from risky events, or for special effects in motive productions, etc.

You will not see it, but Tatsuya dress up as Batman sort of in one the the later volumes, lol.

Meh. Pretty dull episode overall. And God, Miyuki and Tastu's interactions become more and more cringe-worthy with each passing episode : anyone else facepalmed hard at the last few minutes?

I figured it's gonna get a justification later on but it doesn't change the fact that it's near unbearable to watch, and judging by the spoilers the very fact that the viewers/readers have to wait so long to get an explanation on major defining moments for the main characters is already a problem in itself. Even though we eventually learn the nature of their bond, this sets up for nothing else: if things between Miyuki an Tatsu went on the same way for as long as 7 entire volumes, why would we think their relationship would evolve in any way? Bleh, whatever.

Also the techno mumbo jumbo was very off putting. Ono sensei BullShit mage, the whole flight magic conversation, the CAD calibration etc.

PS: please someone slaps Miyuki across the face, just so she gets an actually legit reason for her cheeks to get red.

Hype/popularity is a double-edged sword, can be good if the overall series is good and vice-versa if its bad. I'm hoping Madhouse can adapt it properly for the 2nd and 3rd arc cause it's the only things that can make-up for the earlier episodes. If they mess them up too, this series' doomed.

NGNL threads are just as bad in their own way IMO with just hype getting piled on top of hype and everything just kind of snowballing from their into a cacophony of generic one liner posting. Anyway I think a lot of this is a lot of bull. Not saying the shows particularly great, but to me not a lot being discussed in either thread has a whole lot to do with the actual shows itself. That's why I prefer threads for shows like Knights of Sidionia and Ping Pong. Not only do I actually really like the shows a whole lot more than than these ones, but there's some pretty good discussion going on and not a lot of just hype, anti-hype and people bitching at each other over stupid stuff.

I don't know I doubt peoples opinions change much regardless of what happens with the show going forward. Once people are committed to an opinion or frame of mind it's very hard to get them to budge on it. For example people are hyper focused on the idea of Tatsuya as a Gary Stu "can do it all" type of character so as long as that's a factor nothing else matters.

Also this is just a suggestion but people could learn to ignore hype for the irrelevant factor that it is and just comment on a show for what they feel it is. That's what I try to do myself. I mean for me this show is just kind of a casual watch that gets me over to other stuff I actually really enjoy on the weekend like Ace of Diamond and Haikyu so it's just never really been a factor for me. I mainly watch this cause a friend recommended it and sort of like it but sort of feel like it should be further than it is in it's premise somehow. Sometimes these shows that form a bigger story are next to impossible to watch week to week so I kind of find myself wanting to put it on hold and just come back and burn through it once it's over. Then again maybe that's just my general apathy towards Light Novel stories starting to rear it's head again as I have a tendency to drop like 95% of them of them after about 2 volumes worth of storytelling since that's usually when things start to feel like they're getting tired to me.

Why is he so powerful?

Why is he a genius?

Why does Miyuki worship him to the point that it's a tad annoying?

Why does Tatsuya share such a close bond with Miyuki?

Why is he so emotionally deficient?

When reading Mahouka I found it quite enjoyable to try solve and come up with my own theories regarding his character before the novels explained it to me eventually.

No, in this world you use machine to help you cast magic. Its like programing basically, you write a program in CAD that allow magician to use certain magic. They can cast magic w/o CAD but its insanely slow process and they have to memorize the sequence which is extremely hard.

No flash casting is something different, its forcebally engrave the spell in to your brain to cast it instantly w/o CAD. You can still cast spell w/ CAD just WAY slower than w/o cad or flash cast.

@odysseyrh no he can't cure cancer, only rewind up to 24hrs. Cancer takes WAY longer than that to develop.

you sure about the 24hrs? I thought he alone goes as far back as 24 only cause that's the best 'save point' but if he wanted too he could go back farther than that.... However we're thinking about using the Divine hand and not targeting the tumor and using Demon Hand......that could work Side question so I don't get in trouble whats the command for spoilers?

No its explaiend in the 3rd arc, up to 24 hour is the limit. Also if you were to just remove the tumor than you have a huge ass hole where that is and you die -.- Reason why you can't just cut out tumor thats too big. Or else all cancer can be cured by just removing it.
