Watch here.

It feels kinda rushed in a few places, but I think they did a great job with this. The music adds to the atmosphere way better than Ala Alba's score did. The animation looks better and the fight scenes were goddamn awesome.
We are talking about SHAFT, here, so I was really surprised at how well the animation was handled.

Copying and pasting my thoughts I typed on another forum:

- Negi's return to the villagers seemed less effective than the manga, and they seemed to skip out Anya with her parents. BGM was nice though.

- OP was epic. For the first time, a actual shounen styled one. Also, Rakan makes his animated debut.

- I liked the fact that some of the tracks from Negima!? were used.

- The text "GATE" showing up seemed a bit awkward, but that's probably since I'm a gaijin.

- Ako's reaction to Negi getting stabbed was bad for the mood.

- Animation quality for the battle was epic, like the trailer suggested. Now I really wish that the budokai will get a anime someday.

- Card activation scene really put me into the TTGL mood.

- The cut where Setsuna protecting Konoka in her maid outfit and nekomimi was awesome.

The OAD was pretty epic overall, and lived up to my expectations. I'm really curious about how SHAFT will be handling the amount of content they have to adapt though.

SHAFT does nice animation when they have the budget. Usually they tend to leave things as stylized nearly still frames, but certain scenes within their series show their full potential. The first OAD series sales must have really paid off.

Rushed? What do you expect? It's a 4 eps. OVA.

It is a little rushed (I think so too)... because the fans have always wanted a long anime TV series with THIS quality.... any way, it was FUCKING AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!! every little moment my stomach were happy (if you know what I mean XP)...

The typical mahou-shoujo transformation... just great... finally a great fitingh scene since the Evangeline one in Negima!?

I´ve waited for too long T.T now wait until November for the second one~!!!!!

OH GOD, OH GOD, THAT WAS BLOODY GODDAMN AWESOME!! Daaaamn, I didn't think I'd get this excited from this. Everything was superb, the animated fight scenes made it all worth it. Hell, they even used Kei Haneoka's tracks from Negima!?, which I absolutely loved. I don't remember much from the manga so I couldn't tell what was cut, but honestly, this is brilliant. I LOVE YOU SHAFT!! This is the same feeling I had when I watched Tsubasa Tokyo Revelations <3.

Exactly, they plan to cover the whole magic arc with these four ova plus a movie, it's sure that it will feel a little rushed. The pace was fast but perfect to my taste, they took the most important things and leaved the rest and the result is goddamn awesome.

First time I saw a RAW before the subs but I've read that chapter so many times, who cares.

Lol scenes cut out, extended fight scenes and long transformation times.

Anyway, I loved the fight scene. I always wanted to see that get animated. I expected a more shocking scream from Setsuna when Negi collapsed but still good overall. Manga still has a better impact on me but this is far greater than my expectations. I'm loving it =).

Can't wait to see Rakan lol.

This was one of the few occasions where I felt like wanting to watch an episode of a shonen anime over and over and over again.

It's no suprise how it took studios Shaft and Parasol months to do this one episode alone and maintain Ken akamatsu's character design and even bright color schemes thoughout the entire 9-10 minute fight scene!

XDDDDD this is what happen with the only-anime Negima fans XP....

Actually, of the 27 volumes of the manga, its a battle shounen since volumes 3-4 ... but the anime adaptation never animated this very well XP

Wah, all I can say is that this has motivated me to maybe start reading the manga.

Let me get this out of the way

THE BATTLE AT THE END WAS AMAZING

My dreams of a Negi shonen are so close.

The only bit sort of cut that bothered me was them not showing Anya with her parents, that was a really good moment for her character and added some depth to her character.

I can't wait to see Rakan animated.

I think that was cut because while that did give good depth of her character, at the same time it was super brief and we don't get to see much of Anya after Negi's group was separated for the next 70 chapters.

I missed the scene of Anya and her mother too. It would give her character a whole different view, like it did to the mango to me.

But well.. NO SINGLE PANTY SHOT SPOTTED. HOORAY!

Personally I think this also a nice improvement. I was half expecting I'd stare at -insert 3A student's name here-'s panties, but that didn't happen 8D

Overall I think this OVA project will live up to my expectations~

Yeah, it's a little rushed but considering it's a 4 episode OVA...ITS SPLENDID.

Great fight scene, although Im not a big fan of the transformation xD I imaged it to be more on the "puff of smoke" side rather than sparkling rainbow colours but at least it's short! xD

The OP is quite well done too! <3 Great! I can't wait for more...and the movie! :D
Bleed for me.
