As a standalone episode I really enjoyed this. They did a great job of conveying an alien world that felt unique and interesting.

At this point in the season you would think people would have gotten used to the episodic structure and have learned to try and enjoy each episode as a standalone experience.

I don't know how can people say this was boring but ok, in my opinion art and magic is not boring at all and this episode was the embodiment of that, visually speaking it left me without words. The music was in perfect harmony with the animations and I swear I didn't see an episode this much creative/unique in a while.

Yeah I don't get how anyone could have been bored with that episode. It was the most creative and visually stunning episode of Space Dandy yet. I loved how Dandy seemed to get caught up in the surreal yet beautiful world he was on. And how in trying to help them he ended up destroying the strange world he seemed so captivated by. This was easily the best episode of Space Dandy, I'd go as far as to say its the best episode of an anime I've seen in years.

I loved this episode. It was artistic and with an awesome soundtrack. I highly respect everyone who has worked on Space Dandy for trying something out of the ordinary. However, I believe that people who are not trying to be open-minded when watching anime won't manage to enjoy it as much as others do. I am expecting more from the next episodes and I hope that they manage to deliver it, especially after seeing that we might learn about Meow's past next time

Woah that was fantastic, I loved the surrealism here. The art and music made this strangely beautiful. Also that little plant was cute. Dandy seems to destroy just about every planet he visits..

What. The. Fuck.the colors were irritating to my eyes and the animation was great as usual, the art.. they somehow fucked it up and most especially it was so damn boring. Really... after that episode with that alien kid that was voiced by KanaHana all episodes were either boring or not funny at all (there were some funny parts but not as much as they used to) well I hope next episode would entertain me.

just wanna add that the baby plant's voice was so cute.. it was music to my ears

It was "I don't know what the fuck was that" until the part where the plants revert back to their original form (near the end), the music at that moment was great.

After watching until episode 12 this was the best episode so far (imo)
It had a great design and overall surrealistic feeling to it. The story standing for itself was also beautifully told.
also the music was so fitting.
the series in general was sadly underrated this season ;A;

That was... all kinds of trippy.

It makes me think of the Spiderworld series of science fiction novels. I am genuinely convinced that at least one of the writers read the same series.

This is one of my favorite Space Dandy episodes and I must have seen it like 20 times. But only yesterday I had an epiphany.
You know in the very beginning when Dandy is captured and tied and they try to inject some purple stuff into him? THAT WAS CODE D!!!!!
It's insane how much attention to detail there is in Space Dandy! Everything is connected. Nothing is accidental. So awesome.

I give it three stars. Trust me, I'm not an "uncultured swine", I know good art when I see it, and I'm no stranger with production swaps either, it's quite obvious when an anime tries out different producers or directors or whatever. I'm personally looking forward to episode 12 when Welcome to the NHK staff is present. So yeah, this episode was less plot driven and focused on being surreal. But hey, all episodes are surreal. Episode 2 had a strange vibe in its own right with the sappy ramen stand concept; episode 5 was this huge beautiful movie-like episode; episode 1 just ended up with everyone dying, hehe; episode 8 was extremely sad and featured a dying dog; while episode 7 ended abruptly with the plot being dropped and Dandy being teleported billions of years in the future for no reason...

What was that rant about? Just a clarification for you... I may only be nine episodes in but I'm no longer baffled by the abnormality of this show. And I love it. What a beautiful and creative idea it is to switch tones and atmospheres; some shows are "silly" while others are somewhat "deep"; and I guess some can even be trippy, hehe.

I didn't explain my three stars yet did I...? ;) Alright, the only reason for that was because I was bored (cue the "you're an uncultured swine" 's). But I honestly was. I can appreciate the surreal vibe they were attempting to portray. But half of the episode I just felt like I was staring at random shapes. Yeah, I' referencing the scene where Dandy lies on the hill and just stares at the sky. The first time I realized something strange was happening was when we first saw the dumpling-like-mobile walking and walking and walking across different colorful landscapes. I appreciate the time expended to create such dream-like terrains but eventually, I've just been staring at a walking dumpling surrounded by different colors for two minutes.

What I'm getting at... is while there's a plot and a story line... yanno, the quest to "Code D"... it also just felt like an art piece... I was just staring at different colors while nothing really happened. I was also slightly unsettled by the way Dandy looked in this episode. Yes, I noticed it too... with different art direction comes a different looking character. He looked someone skinnier (in the face; it was sorta elongated) and he was VERY geometric looking; especially when his lips moved or when he talked.

I dunno... sure I gave it three stars but the minus two stars just constitutes for my boredom. In the name of appreciation, I still wouldn't change a thing about the episode and I'm glad the show is so experimental and can push the boundries of TV shows. Very avant garde.

Song around 16:00 is sooooo cute!!
No boobies? What??
Space Dandy keeps getting better. After ep 2 I had really low expectation for it. It was not funny and I expected its animation and art will overshadow the stories. Now been enjoying the last 3 episodes very much. It's best when it's not trying to be funny (boobies aint funny, Dandy's jokes aint)

This reminded me of ep 5 of kaiba on that weird desert island and the later episodes with the giant plant. I really loved the worldbuilding in this episode. Would have been nice if they dedicated more time on it.

As for the episode itself it was an interesting commentary on evolution and progress being pushed on the plants without having a say in it. They were forced to evolve and become humanlike because of the meteor and not of their own volition. The little tuber was pretty cute.

I wish the creativity had shown a bit more in the earlier half of the show, because I was pretty close to dropping it but I'm glad I didn't.
