I'm honestly not sure what to think of Vileena. She is hard to read and I'm not even sure exactly what she wants. There's a lot of politics going on so far rather than action or violence.

She is a daring young woman though based on the first volume even threatening to take her own life with that pistol. I guess she's the type that is willing to take any risk. Political marriages could have potential to turn into real romances although the "love" so far is hollow. Not bad for a start. This war is going to have to end someday even with all these controversies.

just finished it a few days ago. This first vol. is much better than most that I've read.

Seems heavy and dark of a story but it also doesn't look hopeless.

No character yet impresses me but I'll stick up for a while as the politics stands to hide more cards there.

6/10 for this 1st volume.

Definitely a lot more different than most light novels I've read, especially with its tone being far more serious and much more concentrated on the politics than I expected. The volume did sacrifice character interactions for exposition since there really wasn't too much that actually grabbed me with the characters, both Orba and Vileena. But the actual focus into detail on explaining the politics, the backstories of Orba and Vileena, the battles were really solid. The volume and story so far is a bit dry in personality but the content definitely was decent enough to still remain fairly good to read despite the slow nature. Intrigued to see how the next volume turns out to be.
