Naruto was awesome at the beginning of this episode then he wimped out at the end. Haku and Zabuza have a really weird sub dom relationship. I want to see Naruto using the foxes powers again because it was really cool.

Not what I expected but they should show more of Naruto's powers. Haku's story was sad.

Eh, it just seems like Haku is asking for pity to me.

It's not really strange, Haku simply seeks acceptance and he willingly lets Zabuza use him so he can feel as though he has a purpose in life. He is probably telling Naruto this so he will at least have an impact in some way on someones life. I guess having a crappy life can change your way of thinking into something warped like this.

I enjoyed the hell out of this episode btw.

That was some sick story Haku told, I feel quite depressed now. Also the rage of Naruto at the beginning was cool. Kakashi's dogs weren't that impressive though, but kawai dogs, as he said :P

"We are powerful and we are feared" this is one of the, admittedly more subtle, running themes of Naruto.

So many emotional flashbacks lol.

Haku's story sure is depressing. Though, I have a feeling it will be some kind of trick they used to stall time while trying to recover. To be honest, I'm having a hard time trying to figure out whether Haku is a boy or a girl..

Lol same here, I had this issue of deciding whether he was a girl or boy for so many years, and every time you see this scene flashbacked in the following episodes. I'm really pleased to have found out that he is a boy after all. He said it himself in a previous episode. He still looks and sounds like a girl though xD.

Also Naruto stopped because he liked that guy as he was nice with him. Also don't worry we will see Naruto's power a lot!

I kind of enjoy that Haku looks and sounds completely like a woman, but is still consistently referred to as a guy. Not sure how I feel about this character design concept coinciding with his back story though, as someone who serves blindly for love, which is something like what many traditionally and unfortunately want women to be. It's as if he is a woman, because of his personality, but still has to be a guy to be worth something in battle. I wouldn't be thinking anything like this if Sakura wasn't so useless though, and I do still think Haku is a great character. Being a male who looks like a very beautiful woman mirrors the way his admirable traits, primarily his extreme sense of loyalty, are mismatched with the evil he commits. He's like a broken beautiful and good person, which is what is his tragedy. Also, love the mask.

Haku's story is depressing but im sensing some Zabuza/Haku fluff. It's interesting that they portray Haku as this male who looks like a woman and is very attractive, according to Naruto. Then you learn that Haku is an orphan who gets taken in to be "owned" by Zabuza. Naruto seems to be big on character development so I tend to question everything the writers do..it's implied that theres a slight romanticism to Haku and Zabuza's relationship.

This is by far my favorite episode so far. It had quite a measure of moral depth and Haku's backstory was especially poignant to me. Consider me hooked.

Me too! I thought I was the only one just getting into the series now, LOL. I feel like I'm so late >___> Everyone is on Shippuden already!

Geez, Haku sure had a sad relationship with Zabuza. Naruto was freaking awesome though! I'm surprised that he was even able to stop and change back to normal just because he recognize Haku without his mask on. And I totally did not expect Kakashi to summon a bunch of dogs lol. :P ★5/5

Kakashi being totally unpredictable again! And I didn't think Naruto could kill Haku, but it was still great to see what a nice guy he really is. Haku had such a sad past and it really gets you thinking about things in a different perspective. Poor guy, I even feel bad for Zabuza. He's a bad guy, but he's not all bad. It's so heartwarming how he took in Haku, giving him a reason to exist.
Starting to contradict myself again.. having mixed feelings. But it's certainly one of the best episodes so far,if not the best.

I wouldn't have believed I'd like this anime so much.

Really nice sakuga in this episode, some things you don't really notice/appreciate when you were younger. Naruto totally beat the crap out of Haku.

Naruto is too innocent for the shinobi world though, he doesn't understand how Haku could want to die because he's lost his reason for existence...and that reason doesn't make sense to Naruto either. It seems unreasonable, but not for Haku. I learned in my Social Relationships and Health class that people want to be needed, and Haku is just an extreme example of this. It's sad, but that's just what the world Haku lived in did to him.

The animation at the start of this episode was pretty good, and poor Haku, that's a pretty fucked up childhood...

Zabuza the main man. I kind of hope that they all become friends instead. But I think it either means Haku is going to die or something :/

This episode showed a glimpse of some terrific animation that I've heard about in Shippuden at least. Very short, but still cool af.

I don’t really know what it is, but I like the Zabuza arc a lot more then a couple years ago when I watched it O_O I am older, so maybe that is the reason.

But man, that sakuga when Naruto punched the fuck outta Haku, HYPE!!!
I really love this arc, Naruto has very strong backstories. One of the selling points of this anime. The worldbuilding was also great this episode.

The music is also fantastic. Naruto is more emotional in comparison to One Piece.

It makes you think, Naruto really wanted to become a shinobi so he can be a hero. But he now sees all the sadness, the violence and deaths, is this really what he wanted?

Sooo excited to see this coming of age development and how he will handle this! :)

The power of the Nine-Tailed Fox looks awesome, even though I'm sure we just saw a glimpse of it's potential. Haku's backstory is sad and I want to give him a hug :( I'm positively surprised how much darker and more emotional show this is compared to what I thought. Very interested to see what happens next!

Finally some good animation and fights. Looked pretty "cinematic". Were they saving budge and dranging things out during the previous episode for this 'sakuga' burst?
