I am not interested in any fan made badly animated version of it even if it is based of the novels.

Something tells me dem fans could have made a better season 2 than KyoAni.

Season 2 wasn't that bad, I'm not sure why everyone got so pissed about it. I understand that the whole thing about Endless 8 was stupid but to be honest we're lucky we got anymore content in the first place, also, 'dem fans' wouldn't be able to get a whole team of good voice actors that sounded like the ones in Season 1 AND be able to animate another good season.

There was possible news about plans for an anime of Nagato Yuki chan no Shoushitsu (a manga spinoff set in the Disappearance universe), although as far as I know there haven't been any details since the news in December.

If you want to know what happens, I would suggest reading the light novels.
There is no such thing as shit taste. Only idiots who think everyone should have the same taste as they do.

Didn't they recently announce an adaptation for The Disappearance of Nagato Yuki-chan? I'd actually sorta like to see that. It's quite the adorable manga.

But yeah, I don't think they'll make an S3 for Haruhi. It's been what, five years since S2 now? That's an awful lot of time to wait and then suddenly decide to make another season even if it did take like eight years to make another season of Mushishi.
And I mean that in the most sexually painful way possible.

I do love everything to do with Haruhi Suzamiya and all the characters in the anime but endless eight because tbh I think it was an awful wait to start a new season. I'm not saying people who like it shouldn't, I'm just trying my best NOT to go off topic...

Well, that is the first new video of Haruhi in 4 years and it is to promote a pachinko game. I think that may answer your question (and I am a gigantic Haruhi fan who even semi-enjoyed EE).

I think you're right, they probably won't. I agree with the fact that they'll make other content like movies and maybe a spin off or something but I don't think they'll make a s3 anymore

No chance. Not after the Endless Eight. That shit was the very definition of lazy. Who knows if they even have the material for a season 3, much less getting the green light.

We don't really need more Haruhi Suzumiya, but considering KyoAni always prefers quantity over quality with their shows, we might get one.

actually, it wasn't "lazy", at-least not on Kyo Ani's part. every episode was made and animated separately. there was no rehashing i believe.

there is enough Material for it and it could still get green lighted. there was a Haruhi centered event last month so she still has a bit of fame.

That is why I said "KyoAni always prefers quantity over quality with their shows".
I should've said "KyoAni prefers quantity over quality in their latest shows". I wasn't talking about the animation, rather about the shows they actually animate.

I was talking about the quality of the source material and the content of the shows, Hyouka, for example, is just visuals with no actual content.

the story of the endless 8 seems very lazy by itself yes, but not as much when you tie it into the disappearance of haruhi Suzumyi. Maybe it would even have more significance if they adopted more of the novels.

I don't think they will and not counting on it. I'm fine with reading the LN and even if that doesn't continue the ending of the last was sufficient x.x I don't want to think about it much lol.

Anime adaptation of LN have one main goal : to boost LN sales. Haruhi novels already sold a freaking lot per volume. Having a third season right now wouldn't really make any difference.
So the only possibility for a third season to be green lit is new volumes from the author. If you look at the release date of the anime, and at the release dates of Haruhi's last few volumes, it should be pretty evident that a few more volumes could lead to a new season. It's not that the Haruhi series is lacking material for a new anime series. It's lacking material not yet promoted by an anime series/movie to justify the need of a new anime adaptation.

Now, here's the problem. it took 4 years to Tanigawa Nagaru sensei to write the follow up of a volume which ended on a cliffhanger. So; he's fine with letting his fans wait for FOUR YEARS after ending his last volume with a cliffhanger. This time around, last published volume is the end of an arc. So no cliffhanger or anything. Just how many years does he intend to leave the fan waiting this time around? 8 years? 10 years? Have fun waiting for it.

I would personally enjoy seeing an adaptation of that 3 volumes-arc in an anime, indeed. ImO, that as the best arc since the start of that series.
However, waiting for it may be... a bit too long imo.
So, while I'd like to see it, I answered "I don't really care" on the question above. Because even if they do it, considering how slow are the novel volume release, I'll probably have lost interest completely in this series by the time we'll get one... If we ever get one.

But even if the LNs don't get a single additional sale by a third season, it would still be a success. Haruhi has a great fanbase and because it would be by KyoAni, who also has a lot of fans, a financial success is nearly guaranteed. The Monogatari series gets a full anime adaptation, even the LN is (supposably) over.
So why don't they make a third season?

With the recent spin-off with the main character door being shifted from haruhi to nagato, is it possible with an upcomming season 3? Is it just a stall series to get enough material out of the novels and mangas so we can get a good sequel? The new spin-off series gives some hopes for that

I really love Suzumiya series and even despite I really can't stand Kyon at all (mostly because he wanted to punch Haruhi... loser). Anyway it's 2016 already I don't belive that the 3rd season broadcasting would ever happen. so sad. though I hope i'm wrong and it'll be broadcasted in spring or summer season... Hope is mother of fools though...
Other way... I didn't read all book yet so I don't have my own opinion but the movie was an extremely great end so if the continuation sucks then maybe they didn't want to mess good anime.

If not KyoAni, then other studios would make the remaining volumes into anime. But instead they choose a casual-world AU OOC manga by another author and without any sci-fi. I've heard that it's because KyoAni bought the exclusive rights to animate Tanigawa Nagaru's novels, so other studios can't do it, only KyoAni can, according to the contract. And, sadly, they don't wish to continue Haruhi anime, every year having other plans.

The worst thing is that light novels isn't likely to be finished. The author clearly said in 2011 that he's tired of Haruhi, it was hard even to finish the last volume. He decided to abandon this series and begin a new, unrelated books.

It's never going to happen, but I made my peace with it. Would rather have the author properly finish the LNs, which is also probably not going to happen. Still, I'm grateful for everything Tanigawa gave us up until now.
