Since I didn't have the time to play Mio's arc in the VN in this week, I decided to rush the entire of Mio's arc without reading the VN first.

The result? It's good. I got the feel, although my head still recreate some of the script and music directions that I think were missed opportunity. But still, it's a good ride.

So I heard the next arc would be Haruka's. I like her character, but I totally dislike her route due to her (and Kud's) writer. Random pacing, so many useless text filler and lack of punch in the emotional field. Hiah... If only Jun Maeda have enough time to write the entire Little Busters... Non-Refrain (and non-Rin) routes would be much better.

I hope Haruka's route in anime would be better than in the VN.

Conclusion : Much better than Haruka. Mio's arc : 4.2/5.

Also, http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/2013-01-10/writer/jun-maeda-might-work-on-new-key-title Yeah! More Jun Maeda pls! Seems like he returned from the long break.

But before that, SLEEPOVER PARTY!

He needs to comeback and drop kick Tonokawa. That Shizuru route was most abominable.

Best episode so far.
I wasn't satisfied by Komari's arc adaptation, but this one was simply perfect. Very emotional and well executed.
5/5
Some fun for the next episode, I was waiting for that.

Note that it only states that he MIGHT return. Nothing confirmed yet, or it could be "only" that mysterious Angel Beats : The Visual Novel that wasn't heard anymore in news for years.

The magazine asks if the staff on the new Key title is going to be the same as in Key's Rewrite project. Tonokawa responded, "It is still not set in stone, but there is a possibility that might happen. Also, I'm thinking to have Jun Maeda participate."

I wrote a summary of the events from the VN when I was on reddit yesterday, if you want to get a better feel of what happened. I'd like it if my writing didn't go to waste lol.

Also, if you liked Mio, you'll like this. I hope it gets animated!: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l7Td4Lzaziw

Mio gets a lot more funny later on in the "common route", which is basically the inbetween slice of life stuff between each heroine's "big finale" in the anime.
I know I can't give a good idea of what the experience is like in the Visual Novel, but those are some key events that were missing. It took me like 3-4 hours to get through her route, so the experience was more intimate, even though Mio was my least favorite heroine (pretty long and wordy in the VN)

Anyway check this vid out lol: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l7Td4Lzaziw

Thank you, but I prefer to experience it by myself lol (Kurugaya, Mio and Rin 2 left). I heard some comments about this route would be much better if it's romance based, but I can still buy the "Riki value friendship over everything" reasons :p

Anyway, somehow what I got from your last paragraph is that Mio in common route will be different after the
, just] like small differences in Rin after completing some routes. Am I taking it wrong?

Btw, although it still has pretty bad sound direction, the BGM itself is really great in this episode. Probably it's one of the factor that make the 'feel' in this episode felt good.

Faraway is by the way the english meaning of "Haruka Kanata" which is the song title in the VN playlist, also this song impacted me the most during Haruka's route, incidentally the japanese title is a combination of Haruka Saigusa and Kanata Futaki's first name. and yes just as VN reader have previously said, there is a voiced version which is surely going to be played on the refrain arc which will be reserved for season 2.

here's the list of the tracks that played in this episode for everyone to "youtube"
besides "Haruka kanata", we also heard
"Little Melody",
"unused track 3"
"Lamplight"
"song for friends instrumental"
"when will realization come"
"incummunicable message"
"in town of incessant rain"
"two sugars:
and the new(supposedly) ED Rita's Clear weather after the rain ^_^

I'm pretty sure on Rin, Kud and Haruka's arc the voiced version for the song "song for friends will play" but maybe this could also be used for the part II aka "refrain"

as for the Episode, it does feel rushed, this coming from me who took hours to finish Mio's route, but imho reading Mio's arc was too slowpaced for my taste so I prefer the way this was adapted in the anime version, though of course I'd be happier if JC Staff would make the anime work similar to amagami SS wherein each Heroines would get their romance since some (important and interesting )elements in the VN will be left out just to maintain the anime's linear plot flow. this arc did not made me cry in the VN, so basically this anime won't too. but I love the OSTs playing and the depths it has reached, this arc was better adapted than Komari's arc which I think everyone would agree. now I'm looking forward to haruka's route as imho her route is the best one of all the girls, (I personally disliked Rin2's arc for some reason)

now next EPs gonna be a troll, as every VN reader would guess, yeah it'll troll us with pun intended.

PS: I've read EX version and the bath scene between Rin and Komari was uncensored as freak, revealing things that shouldn't be revealed in the first place, but good thing JC Staff is not pulling HSDxD or we'll be accused of being a lolicon O_o

She was the one that didn't try to contact other children at a young age she was the one that created her imaginary friend she didn't do anything at all to contact people her age from what i could tell.
She doesn't appear to be overly shy so she could have made friends along the way but she didn't she didn't try to improve her own situation at all.
Which is the main reason why i don't like her character with her behaviour i can't feel sorry for her.

Thank you for the psychological diagnosis, Dr. Aversa. Oh, wait a minute...
I took that into consideration however it's not a excuse for her to not befriend others.
It's also not a excuse to not stand up for herself which she didn't do at all not to her mother not to the doctors not to people of her age a good example of this was the previous episode where someone walked against her and she didn't do anything about it.

Well, her initial incentives for creating an imaginary friend weren't due to loneliness, she is just a figment of her imagination. And she could have stood up for herself, but you gotta remember how young she was back then. Children at that age aren't often able to think for themselves and they often follow the lead of their parental figures. The mother was against the idea of Mio having an imaginary friend and took her to see a doctor for treatment. As a result, she lost something that was significant to her and she received a lot of mental scarring that lead to her current mentality. As a result, she feels the need to give her own existence so that Midori would be the one to stay. Also, while her character isn't really fit to be called shy, she never had any intention of making friends either. The only reason she made friends with Riki is because he took an initial interest in her.

Wow, best episode yet, in my opinion. This was so so so so so much better than Komari's route. This was also the first episode to cause me to break down in tears. I think part of the reason I liked this so much was because of how much I can relate to Mio. She's still probably my least favorite heroine (not that that's a bad thing because I love all the girls), but her route may end up being my favorite (other than Rin's, Refrain, and possibly Haruka's).

What "Adolescence" do you have?
Do you remember "Childhood"?
The irreplaceable one existed there.

Tbh, i didn't shed a single tear until the second half of clannad after story. Angel beats was a 13 episode series and hit the climax much faster.

were not even half way up the hill yet buddy, hold that disappointment till the end.

I don't think you understand how Key productions work. Takes time to work up the series.. Examples = Clannad, Kanon. Angel Beats and Air got to the climax faster because they're 13 episodes.

It gets MUCH better.
The past two heroine were probably the least character emotional routes for me from playing the VN. A lot of people who enjoyed the last episode liked it because they fell in love with the characters, or played the VN.

The future routes and character backstories and motivations are more identifiable, I feel, compared to something like Mio's backstory.

I teared more in Refrain than I did in Clannad After Story and Ano Hana combined.
I hope you'll come to enjoy the characters more, please chill with the Little Busters once a week until the end.

Actually, Kanon would be a pretty bad example to use since it was better in the beginning than it was towards the end, but it is true for works like Air and Clannad and Little Busters would be no exception. Maeda Jun is Key's only great writer up until Rewrite.

Yeah, I feel like his writing will pull through for Rin's routes and Refrain. Maybe that's why there seems to be so much time left until the eventual 52 episodes. Hopefully it will use up a lot of time for those parts of Little Busters.

nice, really good job with the mio arc.
left out some parts, but this definitely was faithful to the VN

REALLY nice how they actually used "clear weather after the rain" as the ED for mio's finale, hoping "song for friends" comes up as well

although, i cant help but think, with only 12 episodes left (11 episodes, since next week looks like it will be solely on the slumber party)

bro, you have NO idea what this series will do to you once it hits refrain... -_-

you wanna cry? just wait....

and besides the fact, komari's and mio's routes in the VN weren't exactly the most emotional, in my opinion.

leave your judgment for the end

I don’t have time to write out what I really want to write. I will try later on. Seeing it twice. This is my take on it.

About the reality side of things, Mio tell Rikki she does not want to live in this world and suicides by drowning herself in the waters, which happens a lot in Japan as a suicidal method. Rikki saves her by getting her before she sinks too deep.

About Key Magic, Midori transports Mio into a deep sub dimension or deep underwater place. This made me think of:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dark_Water_(2002_film)
Where Mio awaits and Rikki happens in wanting to save her is granted by Midori access and saves Mio. Now this might be vague in general.

Finally I am leaving this,

THE BEST MIO MOE! Girls like Mio should totally have a nice guy to make a nice family and be happy. They don’t deserve being bullied, thrashed, abused and discarded into suicide or hikkikomori status. No one does. Time is up! That’s all.

The underwater part was sort of just artistic license. He wasn't really "transported" anywhere. It was all in his mind.

Also, LB's description mentions Riki's feelings for Rin? What? Does this mean a Rin ending is confirmed?

In the visual novel, he actually almost drowned and Mio

BUT yeah there was the artistic part with Riki + Midori + Mio when Riki reaches for the dove and everything. He's imaging all of this while he's underwater, though.

You know I did not have time but for you I show. In the spoiler
was a very nice foreshadow of that love. Notice the 2 bird kind of like kissing by suddenly turning their peaks towards each other? Yeah IMO that is a foreshadow of Rikki's love notion.

Also so it was in his mind OK but all in real time was that he was in the water stopping Mio from drowning, yes?

Well with Midori's powers as a shadow, it's quite possible if she wanted to show Rikki something that she wold do it in her master's way, that of Mio.

I was surprised that Midori did not turn out more aggressive and contained.

Didn't cry, but damn I had some feels this episode. This anime has gotten me really interested in the VN, so I started it last weekend. Doing Komari's route right now since I heard that route was cut a bit in the anime. I didn't really like Mio all that much (didn't dislike her either, but she just seemed a little less interesting to me) but after these last couple episodes with her I think I like her a lot more now.

Either in Haruka's arc or the last arc of this series which we called it Refrain.

Kud route gets pretty sad too.... but only in the bad ending... bah... I always like Kud's bad ending more over her good ending, the bad ending is just plain better story writing.

This was a well adapted arc in my opinion with no major weak point. The story was powerful, perhaps a bit under explained but it managed to get the point across.

While I didn't have much of a response to this arc, I actually liked the writing and it definitely had a more saddening tone to it, the underwater scene was a nice artistic touch and also the poem's meaning was deep.

IKR that Kud's Bad End is way better but of course there's a reason why it's called Bad End.

But it's gotta be like the best bad end ever

off topic: Sasami and Kyou are cute, but Female Protagonist is the best

To the question of the number of episodes, we'll need at least 6 to 8 episodes for Refrain (plus 3 or 4 for Rin), and other routes like
will need to be made into an ova like with Tomoyo and Kyou's route in Clannad. There's no way this series will be just 26 episodes.

Well, thank you. I'm pretty sure my tastes aren't kind of bashworthy except the fact that I love Tsunderes which some or most of the people tend to hate them.

It is obvious and I can see that Kurugaya's arc and Kud's arc are on this season.

Also, it's already confirmed that this series will go beyond 26 episodes.

More importantly, if you're referring that EX heroines' stories(Some regular heroines as well like Kurugaya) should be in a single OVA, there's no hell of a way it can fit. Especially Saya's.

yeah... but part of their story are explain in main story like
. it just their ending that didn't. and of course one single OVA of Kurugaya's or Kud won't be enough.

Indeed. That's why they tried to cram it into a single OVA.

i think this mio arc somehow feels strange. something like unrealistic. but i like how it is put in the story.

so in the end mio will not bring along her umbrella anymore? gosh.. i thought it will be her identity or something lol..

and the next episode... looks like we will see some fanservices again lol

Saya's story is really good. It's on the same level or exceeds the level of Refrain.

At least 2 Movies about Saya's story is enough.

Or 4 OVA episodes, 2 about this and 2 about that
