Yep both MHA and Demon Slayer are those kinds of anime. Most people hate on Jujutsu Kaisen for also being “that kind of shounen” but I don’t see it that way, especially not with what’s about to get animated (and honestly already has been animated).

But yeah, I fully agree with you. It was one of my first shounens but now looking back, it kinda is pretty damn generic. It has had its ups, but the climaxes of each season aren’t enough to compensate for how mid it is otherwise.

don't feel demon Slayer is overrated but it does have some flaws in story, although fights are brilliant in both mha and ds, thereby the popularity

JJK is no way "that kind of shounen" it's much better than MID Hero Academia

MHA is kind of oddball tbh, i think it's weirdness isn't so bad. demon slayer is more straightforwardly 'that kind of shounen.' and JJK is good but very shounen lol

I'd say yes based on your premise, but I think a better term would be "gateway" anime since "normie" implies there's something wrong with a show having crossover success.

It's on Toonami, appeals to young men, and has a pretty straightforward story, so it shouldn't be surprising that it's popular with even non-anime watchers.

I liken MHA to your favorite band's most popular radio single. It might be exceedingly average compared to the rest of their catalogue, but it introduced a lot of people to the rest of their music that otherwise wouldn't have heard it.

I agree with your statement to an extent. I believe DBZ and Naruto have bad animation to be fair (when compared to today’s standards). To meO e Piece got better as time progressed, but at the beginning, the animation style wasn’t as interesting

Actually, I’d say it’s Attack on Titan. Tons of people who had never watched anime watched Attack on Titan back in 2013, and people are still getting into anime through it. You can clearly see from MAL’s own statistics that it’s currently the most popular anime and manga in the West.

There really aren’t many anime, especially shounen, that are a comic book style storyline.

The most basic shounen would be the big 3, since normie is usually described as more watched things from many people.

The right mindset when watching an anime is hoping that it will break your top 10

Out of all that I've seen this show is actually the lowest in terms of quality among all other modern Shounens...... Even black clover is a much better option
