| I used to ship them while I was watching the first hour of the movie. But I think that's because of my guesses about the future of these characters. I supposed that they will have to live apart for a long time and then Ariel would grow up of course, but Maquia will still be the same and because of that maybe somehow they would fall in love with each other when they'd suddenly meet, more than just mother & child love, you know. But the movie went on and everything has changed, so I soon put this idea down. After all, this plot is so breathtaking and I love that it's absolutely about the love of mother and her child. So I'm very happy that Ariel became a father for Dita's daughter and then a grandfather too... Gods, this movie has an amazing and so untypical story... |

| Its not about being possible or not. I think its about how the the movie has given hints from the start that Ariel likes Maquia more than a family. I do ship Maquia and Ariel but how the movie ended is still okay. 9/10 for me. I think I'll just ship Maquia with the half Iorph next. Haha. That's how fast people move on so I guess I'll let the plot twist of Dita go on too. |

| the reason i liked this movie so much is because of the relationship Maquia and Ariel have; how it is a story about love but not between two lovers. However.... and this doesn’t change my opinion above. when ariel said he was a brat but was going to be a father i was confused, rewinded and rewatched the scene three times. And the only two things on my mind was if it was possible that Maquia was preggo and why the hell are lang and ariel so hot. Also, I really, really dislike the person ariel is with. Fuck dita she literally is so unimportant. |

I would never ever think of them in that way in the least and with someone who raised you since birth and was like your real mom, that's just not okay for them to fall in love romantically.
