| I didn't understand Kaoruko's perspective at all. Her thoughts led me to believe she was going to do something bad, but it turned out she was simply contemplating a kiss and falling more deeply for him. I know I have a Western perspective on relationships, but does she think that wanting to kiss your lover or falling for him is selfish? |

A lot of shy people tend to feel like they're not offering much in a relationship and that they don't deserve the love of their partner, even in the western world. It's sort of like an imposter syndrome, they just don't believe themselves to be worthy because they are so deeply in love with the other person, who for them is worth everything in the universe.
