Surprisingly strong showing for Sunrise considering it felt like they did jack shit all year and it didn't feel like they've had much of an in with regard to anime lately. Maybe I should start Love Live Lyriq said: Anime about anime wins anime award at anime festival - @Lyriq (might as well tag the guy :) These are the more otaku friendly sort of awards so it's to be expected. In the more mainstream Japan Academy Awards that include Live Action and foreign stuff as well Bakemono no Ko easily ran away with the animation of the year prize. |

Best Director: Yoichi Fujita (Binbougami ga!) You're telling me someone got an award for that garbage? Makes you wonder how much rest of the awards is worth... Oh well, at least Japanese Elvis got an award for one of the best openings in the whole anime, that was used even during JSDF marching festival. |

Shirobako was solid good, so yes. I just feel like it's anime industry patting itself on the back, lol. (I dont mean this negatively) Also, Best Animator: Chikashi Kubota YES TOTALLY DESERVED IT his work on One Punch Man is nothing short of phenomenol. |
Imagine a berserk anime by Yoshiaki kawajiri at Madhouse. Now take a look at Berserk (2016). YOU HAVE MY PERMISSION TO CRY. |

Fujita Yoichi has to be my favorite anime director. Glad to see Gintama win the fan award. I remember when it was in fifth place and Shounen Hollywood was in first. It really rose up from the beginning. Shows how dedicated some fans are. I was watching the votes pile up but didn't participate because no twitter account. P.A Works really needs to make more Shirobako. Only good thing they made recently. |

Animation of the Year Shirobako (Television) I was expecting it to be either this or Osomatsu-san since both deserved it in my opinion. Individual Awards Best Director: Yoichi Fujita (Binbougami ga!) Best Script & Original Story: Shuu Matsubara (Osomatsu-san) Best Character Design & Mechanical Design: Naoyuki Asano (Saint☆Oniisan (Movie)) All of them did a phenomenal job with Osomatsu-san. Haven't checked the other shows they've worked on but still well deserved. |

The results are weird to be honest, Shounen Hollywood -Holly Stage for 50- is the second but that barely sold 1000 copies and no sign of Hibike/Yahare/fate. |

Having a staff that actually seems to know and care about what they are doing goes a long way, especially in today's industry cause it doesn't happen much anymore. WiseFlower said: Stark700 said: Same here...I want to see more of it...I'm very pleased to see Shirobako winning the Animation of the Year award. Hope it gets another season in the future! I can agree to that sentiment for sure. It really doesn't seem like it should be that hard for the industry to just listen to the general public and overall fanbase again instead of consistently doubling down on catering to otaku whales like it's been doing the last couple years. I keep thinking sooner or later something has got to give and break but it's sure not looking like it's going to happen in 2016. It's probably because going out and actually creating things like Shirobako and Love Live or doing revivals like Yamato 2199 and Osomatsu takes genuine time, effort and care and it's just so much easier to pump out generic hit light novel series x's 12 episode adaptation and make small but cumulative installments of income. There's so many times that there should have been a wakeup call for the industry already that the way it's been doing things isn't sustainable but it seems like only a few entities are actually really listening instead of just trying to use money and influence to force their agenda to take hold. |

Thank fucking god Shirobako won and not that overrated and overhyped OPM. I absolutely love Shirobako and I haven't watched Love Live film yet. I pre-ordered the film on NIS America's website and I'll be getting the copy this summer. Even if I haven't watched the film yet, I'm sure Love Live movie deserves the award 100% because there wasn't a single great anime movie that came out in the year 2015. |

Oh god this is justice. Shirobako has out of this world animation. Watching the series made me feel that the creators REALLY cared about it. The amount of work they did animating this far surpasses everything else. I'm just gonna say for the sake of argument that they have animated everything in almost all panels. Like backgrounds characters, hair, shadows, their clothes etc. They even animated their eyes blinking in EVERY episode. I don't know if this is something that happened before but Shirobako is the first anime that I actually noticed it. \o/ Hurray for Shirobako! PS> gintama love |
