| As someone who hasn't read the manga, I thought this episode was pretty damn good! It still doesn't reach season 1 quality, but it comes pretty close. They finally used some actually good OST and I think I've gotten used to the drop in animation quality. But most importantly, Takamura is so badass that it's hard to not make him look cool. I think I'll pick up the manga at some point, too. Especially for that Mashiba fight everyone's raving about in various comment sections. I have the Hajime no Ippo OST downloaded and I tried reading manga continuations to the anime OST before and it's pretty damn amazing. It worked brilliantly for the Kaiji series. So I can recommend doing that to those who haven't tried that before. For a time I was pretty pessimistic about this season and wanted to give it a 5/10. It's gotten to a 6/10 by now, but I think depending on the next few episodes it might even get a 7/10. Which is really good, according to my own rating system! I simply can't deny the fact that it's still very easy to binge and time seems to fly by. Which is something only pretty good anime series can do. But if Hawk wins I'll have to choke a bitch. (Not that I expect that to happen) |
