I knew we would see Jeanne again after Fersen has left. Still es evil, but what I wonder is what her actual goal is. The other antagonists so far had clear ambitions, but for her it's just a vague inreasement of wealth and status, but to what end?

I was wondering why Oscar didn't immediately investigate why the Cardinal would thank her for no reason. Normally she's just that suspicious.+

And in the end I also thought Oscar would get stabbed. Why did she take the sword and hide it if she didn't plan to use it?
I probably regret this post by now.

I wonder if there's any love in Jeanne's heart at all? From this episode, you wouldn't think so. Makes me wonder why she keeps her husband around...

They did a really good job of making the Cardinal really despicable. Every time he showed up, I was cringing. I don't blame Antoinette for running back to her room after she saw him.

So it took me up until now, but I just noticed how good the bassline was in the intro. Haha, it's catchy.
I loved the Cardinal when he was parading around at the ball. Every other thing he does is just gross though.

Even though Jeanne is a bitch and I hate her she sure is cunning and interesting in a way.

Cause he is useful once she has no use for him it wouldn't surprise me if she threw him under the bus....uh I mean carriage. Then again just have to wait and see how there relationship will play out.

I taught Jeanne was going to kill the blind girl and dump her body in the canal. I'm glad she didn't. She must plan on using her again. I did not expect this level of drama in this show.

I strangely liked it. Spend a night with the queen for 10 sous! Haha.

Oscar is not as suspicious as usual. Jeanne is very manipulative. I like that she can play the foolish Cardinal like a fiddle. But that scene with the vodka is ominous foreshadowing. Her web of lies will be cut soon enough.

If she's so good at gambling, just gamble yourself into nobility. XD

My thought exactly. I'm still wondering what's the knife for though.

I like Jeanne more than the previous two evil crazy ladies. she's more clever and isn't involved with the queen (yet). although I have no idea why she didn't stab her, it was a perfect opportunity.

The one aspect I dislike about this show is to create evil masterminds out of nowhere. I can understand about Jeanne being a money whore and all. But to see her the way she is atm just because of her greed is a bit far fetched imho

Jeanne is a DuBarry in the making. I loved that scene where she started crying after she was drunk - she's chasing money and status with no care about personal morals, and that isn't giving her anything close to true happiness. Only momentary satisfaction at best.

The appearance of the Queen doppelganger is possibly much more important than it seems right now. She could become embroiled in something far bigger - time will tell.

Jeanne is such an evil bitch, but I love her for that, I wonder if her goal is just to escape the emptiness or if there's more behind her scheme, tho.

Anyways, this show is really a blast to watch so far,not a single episode disappoints.

That scheming bitch Jeanne, but you gotta love her cunning strategy to strip the perverted cardinal from all his money which really makes me curious to what her real goal is considering she already aquired enough money to live a comfortable life.

Jeanne is a really clever character, I'm really starting to like her. She might be evil like Du Barry and Polignac but she just has a type of aura around her that makes her different from them. I can't wait to see what she's gonna do...

Jeanne is one crafty operator. She might be a step above Madame du Barry in her scheming ways. She's playing Rohan like a puppet.

I felt really sad for the poor prostitute. What a life and blind too.

Damn, shes scamming the cardinal hardcore!!

The fake queen plan worked out nicely. They were really close to getting caught by Oscar though.

Even though Jeanne is clearly the antagonist, I can't help but appreciate her cunning tactics and gambling. Part of me is rooting for her while also waiting to see what her eventual downfall will look like.

Jeanne got back with a donkey in the middle of the biggest beach ever.

This felt more like a warm-up of Jeanne's scheming.

Jeanne is starting to shape up to be a great antagonist.

As for her end goal. I don't think she has one. Her gambling was a metaphor. She actually won 3,370 Livres before the cardinal showed up. I did a rough calculation.

I know the year isn't probably isn't accurate, but it's close enough! She roughly made about 625k US dollars, yet she decided to gamble again. The point is that she doesn't know how to quit. Most people who made over $625,000 would consider that a good win, and leave the casino. Yet she kept gambling. Her greed doesn't stop.

That conversation with her husband clues us into a part of her mind. She's saying that it has to be interesting. It's like she's saying, "I left my family, my mother died, and I have a strained relationship with my sister. Something has to be interesting in this world, to make all of that worth it. If nothing is actually interesting, if a lot of money doesn't satisfy me, then what was it all for?"

Also, for fun. I'm doing a tally of how much money, Jeanne got in this episode. How much did this cunning girl scam?

At the roughest estimate, because we don't always get the exact amount. At gambling she won over 3,370 Livres (3,000 + 370), since she bet that much again.

Though we don't know the exactly amount. I'm just going to double it to about 6,740 Livres. There was the money sent to Oscar, but we never know the actual amount. It was just two large barrels of Gold. Then the Cardinal gave her 10,000 Livres for her letter.

Then she scammed 50,000 Livres from him.

That's a total of at least 66,670 Livres. Doing the calculations on the website:

She scammed well over $12 million this episode. No wonder her husband said that's enough to do it up for the next 10 years. That's not even factoring that he has a steady income, as a royal guard.
